Exclamation Annoying blue line

Turned my comp on this morning (well, i didn't wake up till gone 1pm so thats a lie) and there's a thin blue line that keeps flicking in and out of view across my screen. It's only about 1px in height but stetches the entire width of my desktop. It doesn't appear in the POST sequence and it's not visible when i have my browser maxmised - only on my desktop.

I tried disabling everything in the taskbar to no avail, uninstalled and reinstalled updated graphics drivers but it's still there. I don't see it being a prob with my screen since it only appears on the desktop and the same applies there for my GPU, so over to you guys.

Any ideas?

That happens to me only when I'm looking at the web browser on my desktop machine.

Do you use Window Blinds? I've had issues with various suites for that before, but not like this. I disabled everything and couldnt get rid.

I've found some things on Google but i don't think they directly apply to LCD's and i would've thought a problem with the LCD would be evident while using Firefox, or any other window - which it isn't.

UPDATE:

Well, i changed the wallpaper after trying almost everything else i could think of, and it's gone. Still happens when i use the same wallpaper as before, but with any other picture or colour there's no problem at all

One of lifes little mysteries

I've got a Hitachi CML174SXW (or SWX) 17" LCD with a small blue-ish line in the middle of the screen now. I've had the monitor since 2001 (I think) and only recently, around a week ago, after I mounted it on the wall, did I notice the line. It looks a smooth and rounded and when I see it, it annoys the hell out of me, no matter how much I concentrate on pretending it's not there. It's there from startup although it's hard to see on a dark background. I can see it on white text, so I know it's there, mocking me. It's about 3" long and a quarter of an inch thick. Could the screws I used to hold the mounting plate on be too far deep into the monitor and be causing this?

I got my mount from www.ergotron.com. It's the FX30 quick release and I used the short screws which actually were shorter than the ones holding the stock mount. I sent Hitachi an email last week asking about this, but I doubt I'll get a response.

On the plus side, it's been snowing since last night and is still going strong, YAY! I don't have to leave my house today.

Most pure flat crt's have a stabilising wire. Sony FD Trinitrons have 2 of these going across the screen roughly deviding the screen into 3rd's. The line can be more or less pronounced depending on the colour of your desktop and various other settings.

Since this is a tft this obviously isn't the solution.

The TV companies actually had to get flatscreens in after they came out as it turned out that their pictures were not properly aligned on a pure flat screen, on account of the fact they were still using curvy crt's at the time. Just a random factoid for you from an ex-tv salesman.

I still miss my sony 19" FD Trinitron crt, ati killed it with a driver bug...
:(

Driverbug, 2 monitors plugged in. 1 was a tft and one was a crt. Crt was running 100Hz tft was running 75Hz. Installed the buggy drivers because a game wouldn't work and around 2 hours the screen just went black, powered it off and on a couple of times and when it came back on, it was all green and the menu controls on the monitor no longer worked. Can't remember which catalyst version it was but they were known buggy and they destroyed quite a few peoples screens, the buzz on the forums at the time were that it was to do with setting the refresh rate of the screen and having a 2 screens plugged in at the same time. The tft survived as it was immune to the bug luckily.
