Well I had a peice of plexi lying around the house (and who here doesn't) and I decided to tackle a hard etch like so :http://www.unf.edu/~gonp0001/images/halo.JPG

Now for how to go about it? Well I read about something over at the hardforum about tracing the outilne with a marker so that the outline will show through the back of the paper.
I use this:

After doing this I had this to show for it :

Well after some scary etching voodoo I ended up with this:

Since I'm not one to waste plexi I also did a halflife 2 etch on the plexi :

Nifty little trick! Hope you all learned something about something or other! Makes hard etchs easy!! By the way sorry the blurriness of the pics but what can ya do?!:D

Well if you want frosting you can buy the engraving kit for the dremel that brings bits that are more or less made for frosting! I just used a 107 engraving bit for the half life 2 etch and a 105 for the halo etch as it was smalled and more detailed. To frost it you just have to "color" in the the plexi area! Just make sure that you dont leave the bit in one specific area for too long or you will end up going through the plexi!:D

You gave me a fantastic idea. :-) Could you please post a pic of the finished product? I'd love to see it.

Anyone ever try the etching stuff in a spray can?

Could anyone with etching experience explain/describe how it's being done in a good manner? I want to do an etching on my computer's window and would like to know a bit more, before I make an attempt to ruin it. Well, I am going to run the window, I just want to know a little more about it before I make an attempt. :-)

Try this article (http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2005/06/17/Engraving_for_modder/1.html)on Bit.

Thanx for the link. Ok, I'll do my etching later today if all goes well. I even got me one of those flex-thingies from the shop here at the airport. I must say I'm kinda looking forward to this. I guess I'm in a creative mood. hehe. I'll post pics later.
