Hi Guys,

This is my first post here, so hope its in the right place.

Basically, my computer died, and instead of building another myself, I thought it would make more sense to buy a laptop instead, as I do travel to and from uni (although I am almost finished).
I have seen the following on ebuyer which all look very good, my first choice however, does not have a HDMI output, which I thought would be useful!

Can you hook the laptop upto a TV screen without HDMI? do most TVs have the VGA input? because I didn't think so?

Option 1:
HP 6735s Laptop AMD Turion X2 Dual Core RM-72 2.1Ghz, 4GB 800DDR2, 320GB 15.4" DVD RW LightScribe Writer, WLAN, 8 Cell Battery, Webcam, Bluetooth 2.0+, Onboard ATI Radeon HD3200 Windows Vista Home Premium, MSO rdy

Option 2:
Asus X59GL-AP007C Laptop, Core 2 Duo T5800 2GHz 3GB RAM 250GB HDD, 15.4" TFT, DVD SM DL, 6 Cell Batt, nVIDIA GeForce 8200 Vista Home Premium

Option 3:
Fujitsu Amilo Pa 3553 Laptop, AMD Turion ZM-80 2.1GHz, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 15.4" WXGA, DVDRW SM, Webcam, Vista Home Premium

They are all about the same price, with option 1 looking like the best spec, but I know nothing about laptops!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Mike

Holy late reply Batman!

Option 2. It has the most recent processor (the Turion is much older than the Core 2, the most recent nVidia on-board graphics and a recognizable brand behind it -not as well known for laptops as HP is, but not bad).

I bought an HP laptop with a Core 2 @ 1.6GHZ a year ago, mainly because it had an Nvidia 6600 mobile video card so I could do some light gaming (almost all of my 3D strategy/RPG games, World of Warcraft and UT2k4 all play well) and movie watching. The biggest selling point, besides the price at 1400 USD, was the Core 2 CPU and the video card and those are the biggest points of Option 2. It does have a smaller HDD (250 Vs. 320GB) and a gig less of memory, but I don't think they will matter much overall since the CPU is much faster than the Turions in the other options.

Have you bought the Laptop yet, I did a massive review (for myself) of Laptops a Christmas, I'll try an dig it out.

I was looking for a highish spec with a decent mobile gfx, I ended up getting a macbook Pro (Wife decided she liked it) bloomin expensive but very nice, unless you simply cannot do without Windoze.

You need to ask what you need the Laptop for? before you decide on what to buy?

Before you purchase any laptop (http://h40059.www4.hp.com/products/hp-laptop-computers.html) whatever the brand, it's worth, as JohnnyAlpha says, reviewing what you will ultimately use your laptop for. This article reviews 10 things to consider when purchasing and is a useful guide - associatedcontent.com/article/55872/ten_things_to_consider_when_purchasing_pg2.html?ca t=15

Hi Honest-Mike,

Before you purchase any laptop (http://h40059.www4.hp.com/products/hp-laptop-computers.html) whatever the brand, reviewing what you will ultimately use your laptop for. Check all the specification about that laptop and then buy with moderate price.

Thanks

Well if I have to choose between them, I go for option1. Another thing which I want to mention here that Hp is providing better customer support as compare to other which is another plus point for HP.
