Ok.. i play the game World of Warcraft. I had both games installed, the expansion and the regular one. I got crashes every 20 min or so (it was random) And i had to relog the game and again crashed like 20 min later. Sometimes my charecter would not move either and my interface was bugged, but it was still playable.

Now that the new expansion is out, i bought it and tried installing it knowing something was gunn go wrong because all the bugs and crashes i got. Anyways whilst installing the game i got an error all the time stoping me from going any further and had to try again. Tried LOADS of times. Then i decided to uninstall all the games and start new. This made things worse since now i cant download the original WoW anymore and cant even play it. I have the error message here.

"An error was detected while verifying the contents of the file "E:\Pelit\World of Warcraft\Data\lichking.MPQ". There may be a problem with your system, or with the drive at E:\. You can attempt to install again. If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support."

This is very very fustrating, i dont rly have much cash to buy a new hardrive or whatever... :S I really need help with this, if theres anyone that has an idea please please please post and give me ideas on what to do. Ive heard ppl say its the game disc. Its not ive tried my friends discs and tried to download it from the website also. Same thing happens all the time. Please someone help me here, ill be very greatful.

Thank you very much for taking the time for reading this and thnks more if you have a solution <3

if it's you hard drive then there isn't anything you can do except try to backup files that can't be duplicated(ie photos and documents).

though you should start by checking the connections to the drive in case there is a cable slightly loose. (make sure the computer is OFF when you do this)

if the problem isn't there then listen for abnormal sounds of the hard drive, sounds that don't belong to its normal operation. if you hear anything like ticking or sound similar to a bearing that has broken then it's quite a safe bet that your hard drive is broken and I'm sorry to say that there is no way to repair this. other than replacing the hard drive.
doing a disc defragmentation should also reveal if there is bad sectors.

ps. could a moderator move this thread to its correct place?

Well spotted AWACS - thread moved.

You've not given us that much useful info to go on really. What i would suggest is running powermax (http://digilander.libero.it/YorkOne/powermax/) to test your drive. Do the thorough test though, but it can take some time depending on the size and age of the drive.

Failing that, a format and reinstall of your OS may help, you should do this every now and again anyway to help keep the system running well.

Seems a few people have had problems with the expansion....

I'd still do the drive test, just because it could be at fault.

If you were having issues before the expansion then still test the drive, and think about a format. You may as well if you're that interested to get it running. If it doesnt help, at least your install will be nice and clean and nippy.
