hi all
i recently took in a friends PC to fix. it seemed as though the USB ports and PS/2 ports may have failed. anyway i tried a different KB and mouse and they worked. XP needed to be reinstalled as it had corrupted badly. anyhoo i installed XP and dual booted it with UBUNTU 8.04 took it back and got it setup wirelessly online. the next day i had it back as the KB and mouse didnt initialise. basically it turns out that both are dead and so is the USB wireless Adapter. so does this indicate major M/B failure and or the PSU has a fault. this is for my edumacation more than anything.
my friend is going to have me build a brand new system. it will consist of;
MSI K9VGM-V M/B
1GB DDRII PC2-5300 Ram
Sempron CPU 2Ghz
ATI radeon PCI 128MB GPU
350W PSU
all for £102.46. i will use the existing case, HDD, and DVD Rom drive.
alternatively if he also goes with a New DVD RW, 160GB HDD, and case it will cost £171.32. this will give him a nice medium range setup. hes not a gamer so do you think the Price/setup is good? comments please.
