1992 Lowered 2.0Litre 190E, 5Spd manual, C Class Alloys, ABS, Airbag, T&S E/S/R, E/W, C/L, Kenwood 4.1, PAS, <120K miles, usual Merc refinements, etc.
While you're at it, if you wouldn't mind giving it a full service & valet, replace the viscous coupling, catalytic converter and most of the exhaust... oh and if it'll fit, chuck a 100Hz flat screen TV on the back seat for good measure*, I'd be most grateful, ta. :wiz:
* God I love my brother.

This one's for Stefan (who doesn't think you get 2.0 on the boot of a 190E or twin tailpipes on a four cylinder Merc) ;-) -

Hehe, cheers bud.
If the plates were like that, I think the police car you can see in the distance in a couple of those shots might be just a bit closer than he is there!
Got a few jobs to do on it yet. Really want to refurb those wheels and maybe shoot them with a darker silver, maybe anthracite or gunmetal.
Looking closely, it appears they were previously cleaned with a wire brush drill attachment. :duh:
As I probably mentioned elsewhere, I've already put ~1500 miles on it in the space a couple of weeks.
It never missed a beat though and is looooooovely to drive.
I seem to have European cover on my insurance too... maybe I should pop over to Slame's again. I'm sure I can find an excuse to drive there this time. :inno: :wiz:

wozers, thats one mint looking merc. is that the cosworth 2.0L? 177hp correct? Nice machine. I would sand down the rims and brush them and then put a coat of clear.
I love the looks of those cars, its boxy but elegant at the same time, only mercedes managed to pull that one off.
If you havent already, put a new filters all around, including fuel, air, cabin, and oil.
What weight oild do you use? Do you use full synth? Or do you use dyno stuff. If you are afraid to switch to full synth then get the 50/50 blend.

Congratulations Rich - that's one good looking motor; I've considered getting an E-series myself, and still haven't discounted the idea entirely.
Props to your bro for supplying it :thumb: Say 'Hi' for me next time you call.
No shots of the inside of the boot - I'm guessing this Merc has got a tidy one?

Nope, the Cossie models were the 2.3 and 2.5 16-valvers.
The 2.0 is perfect for me as a balance of power, economy and insurance premiums. ;-)
It still picks up nicely when you need it to but returns fairly good mileage if you're a little more gentle with the old right foot.
Yup, all the oil, plugs and filters were done prior to me collecting it. I haven't checked which oil was put in yet, as it doesn't appear to have used any, even on the long runs, when hot but I do plan to find out prior to adding any more, obviously. :nods:
Cheers for the thoughts on the wheels but they're definitely getting a lick of paint before the clear, as I need to fill a couple of kerb-nicks and blemishes with some aluminium filler prior to copious quantities of hi-build primer. Should bring them up as nice as aftermarket rims, then I'll get them balanced using the stick-on weights so as not to damage the finish. B)

Hehe, I wondered who'd be the first to spot the suds around it! :wiz:
Typically though, the first thing we did after that was to go for another drive - the consensus of opinion was to head for some picturesque woods somewhere... complete with potholed approach road and muddy car park. :duh:
Needless to say, it didn't stay that clean, especially after the 400+ mile drive I made in it the next day, down to Devon/Cornwall. :inno:

Thanks mate (will do).
It's not strictly speaking, an E-Class. The 190E "baby Benz" was a model unto itself. There's a nice article here on 'em - 190E
Tbh, this model suits me better than an E or C-class and I got the latest one I could find in good order.
The boot is huuuge, (even with the stonking great bass tube in there) and was tidy(ish) before we went away but I'm sure it won't be long before it looks more like Slame's did. :D

I think the 190 broke the normal MB convention of using the engine size to dictate the model number, actually.
They did a 1.8, 2.0, 2.3-16v and 2.5-16v (also a 2Litre Diesel, a prototype electric model (http://www.geocities.com/shvoldum/facts/w201electric.html) and a couple of AMG models including a fairly rare 3.6Litre and a very rare 6.0Litre!) .
Thanks for the props. It's easy to see how you got so attached to your Mercs. They do make a helluva car. ^_^
