OK lets pick your brains...
On my Wifes PC, if you try to drag an icon to another location on the the desktop it just snaps back to where it was as soon as you let go of the mouse button.
Is there some setting that makes this happen ?
She has not made any changes to her PC or installed any new software, a scan revealed no viruses or spyware.
Any ideas ?
BTW it always used to work OK

Nope, thats what I thought but I've tried all the options to no effect, the only thing checked is 'Show Desktop Icons'

Plagiarised from another source -
I recently developed the cant move icons problem after installing the latest windows update. I am using XP, but this fix should work on NT and others as well.
There are 3 reg keys relevant to this problems. Do a regedit and make sure that you have all 3, somehow the update deleted one of them on my computer.

Thanks for the help Lads.
Your not going to believe this, Just as a wild shot in the dark we changed the mouse and now its working perfectly, she's dragging and dropping away to her hearts content.
Funny thing is the mouse seemed to be working OK apart from the D & D issue.
Bloody computers.
