I bought the hole saws yesterday, o god, what have i gottem myself into.

Tell me how the drawings look cuz thats whats going to be done in the next day or so. Its all perfect to me, but someone could have a wild objection or something.

Ok the deed has been done, not too bad, a little work. The back 120 hole had to be dremeled then sanded because coolermaster thought it would be nice to put an 80mm at the top with these gay little vents so i couldnt get a pilot hole and the holesaw was unable to be utilized without screwing some stuff up and i didnt want to be doing that. SO heres the pics of the cuts, pretty smooth i still need to sand them and btw, My front bezel is thicker than anything ive had to cut so far. ANyhow, here we go...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/bryanaes/Overallcut.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/bryanaes/FontCut2.jpg

Here we go, i finished the front bezel and polished that mofo to a shine, o its sweet. The top ill post pics of one i get the hole drilled and all. Im thinkin about doing some fiberglassing so keep your eyes peeled for some kewl stuff to come. ANyhow. But this hole turned out ot be too small for what i was lookgin for so i drememled it larger, i will have pics of that up shortly.

Update 10/18
New pics, here we go, its up and running good, just wanted to test some parts so right now the setup is kinda messy. I promise that the final product will look much nicer becuase there are still many things missing in action, like the font bezel, top work, and miscelaneous painting and organization in the case. This isnt how im keeping it but i thought it would be fun to show some new pics and play with the water cooling becuase its been soo long since ive played around with a water cooled rig. I got the front bezel lookin pretty good, ill post some pics of my progress of that later. enjoy for now

Update 10/20
Ok so heres a little progress on the front bezel. Its been bondoed and these pics are after i have just sanded down the bondo. I still need to apply the spot filler putty and do some primering and sanding to prep for painting but its commin along pretty well i think. Let me know what cha think. :D

Looking good! :D

You're a lot braver than me to cut up an expensive case like that. Looks very nice though. Is the res going to stay where it is, because doesn't it stop you putting the side on?

Oh and what colour are you painting it?

Yellowsnow17
21st October 2004, 00:40
Lookin great so far man. I absolutely love coolermaster cases. Well, I should say their older cases like the one you have there. What is that little cage-thingy you have your hard drive mounted in and where did you get it? Is that a rackmount server accessory?

Mr.B
21st October 2004, 00:46
Nah, its just a side mount Hdd rack that came with this model case. Its really nice cuz its opends up that passage what between the HDD rack which i will have another radiator attached to the intake fan, just a small micro 80mm or something to put in the loop before the water hits the chipset or gpu depending on what i think will need the extra cooling.

Yes i am planning to leave the reservior there in a word. Im going to attach it to the outside of the case whether itll be to plexi or not cuz im debated cutting the window that far over. Im gonna then habe the tubes run from the outside into the inside via holes in the window that im going to be putting in. I might add another one of the same reserviours to the other side of the case so i have dual res's when u look at it from the front.

Thanx for the kind words guys, i appreciate it. :)

I did see the pics last night when i was too inebriated to post a reply. Good work though Mr B, Nice clean cuts. That looks like an 80mm hole on the bezel, will a 120 not fit at the bottom front?

Update 11/10

Allright everyone, the front Bezel is practically FINISHED !!!!!! I still need to clear coat it but the painting is done, i also need to clean the bezel up a little from some slight overspray. It can out really nice and shiny, i can only imagine it after the clearcoat. Enjoy.

Its insane how 3 weeks ago i could have something like this --------> http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/bryanaes/Crappyfront.jpg

And then after a little sanding (lol acutally a butt load) and some paint i would end up with this ----------------------------> http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/bryanaes/FrontBezlelnice.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/bryanaes/ftonbezel2.jpg

Heres the prop noses for the fans, they as well need to be clear coated but i will be getting to that in the next couple of days. :)

Mr.B
24th December 2004, 05:42
Hey guys, thanx for all the compliments, especially nice to hear it cuz ive been working to no end these last few days on it. :D

1. For the screw holes, the screws actually are not going to sit in the holes. I have so hollow rods that are made out of aluminum, which im going to be cutting about an inch long each, and put them in the holes so the rods will come out of the bondo and be flush with the top intakes. THe screws then go into the rods, then down through the holes in the panel, through the fans and into the radiator  LOL. Its hard to explain, but ull see when i get it all done.

2. As for a step by step procedure on the bondo. Its pretty much a freestyle act. But for how i did it. I just mixed up a big thing of bondo, then put it around the crevice where the pvc met the case. I used dish washing gloves, then cut off the fingers (the index and Middle). THen i would just spoon up the bondo on those two fingers and put it around the bottom. THen, after i got the bondo in the crevice, i used a putty knife to slop on the additional coats, then kinda just run the knife around the edge making the lip. THen i would sand the crap out of it! It takes a real long time by hand. I have a bosche Power sander so i would use that to basically get the general shape and get rid of all the uneveness in the bondo. THen i would use sandpaper by hand and continue sanding, thats how i got the "quarter pipe" style lip on the bondo.

If you have any more questions, dont hesitate to ask! :)

Once again thanx for all the compliments guys. Ill have an update tomorrow becuase I was unable to get all that I wanted done today.

Update Time ---> 12/24

Allright guys, whew. The top is finally finished off with the spot putty and is not ready to start the paint process. I never realized it but there is a hell of alot of bondo there on the top WOW. LOL, but its all good, i think this top piece is gonna be narly when its done. I also bondoed the front 5.25 fan bay and it came out GREAT!!! I never thought it would look this good, especially when i get the LED Fans behind there

TIME FOR THE PICTURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heres a pic of the final product of bondo, spot putty, and a god forsaken grip of sanding. I also primed it which explains why some of that gray is there.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/bryanaes/FinalBondo.jpg

Now heres the 525 bay. Its going to house 3 40mm Blue LED fans that i got from Directron.com. I was thinking about painting the fans chrome, well have to see what I decide on here, right now im leaning towards painting them chrome becuase every single other fan in the entire system is chrome.

Allright, well I got a little more work done, I drew this little flame lick for the top panel. Im going to be cutting that same size lick out of Plexi, then some polished aluminum lick (a little smaller) will be placed on top of the plexi. (the plexi will also be lit by Blue Leds.

Ive made a bondo fan holder for the outside of the case side panel. I thought merely mounting the fans on the outiside of the case would be very tacky, so i got the bondo out and came up with this beast :D Sanind took forever.
