Lo guys,

I have a slight problem.

Being the perfectionist (read gimp) that I am, I want to get hold of some 3/8" BSPT (1/2" bore) nickel plated barbs, but am buggered if I can find any.

Don't spose you chaps know of anywhere?

Ta me muckers

Andy

Don't think you'll find any 3/8" BSBT - 1/2" bore fittings tbh. That thorite link is about the best you'll do. You can always widen the bore of the fitting yourself, ofcourse any anodising/coating/plating that wouldve been on the inside would be removed.

You beauty, knew I could rely on you guys! :D

Only a week or so now until I can get the main part of my rig up and running.

Mach II cooled 4.6 Ghz P4, watercooled 6800 Ultra and watercooled components anyone? :D

Mach II: £365

6800 Ultra and waterblock: £410

Voltmodded Asus P4C800 E Deluxe £100

3.4 Ghz Northwood: £180 (cool running, craps out at about 4.4 Ghz)

3.4 Ghz Prescott: £ 180 (hotter than Satans sauna, craps out at 4.6 Ghz)

Using my BH6 that I bough aaaages ago too,(at the bargainous price of £220) is spoed to be PC3200, but I'm running it at 250 FSB day to day, 260 it runs fine but I don't wanna stress it too much lol

Also factor in the cost of radiators (dual loop, one for GPU, one for components) and waterblocks and you have enough to buy me a car. Or two.

Whole shebang should be up and running in it's final resting place soon as well, just gotta put the finishing touches to a base unit for the Mach II, so that it matched my Black Widow (I butchered another Black Widow, EEEP)

Right now I'm wondering if I should just give OC'ing serious consideration and buy a Northwood 3.4 instead of any fancy schmancy AMD64's. I do lack the Mach 2 however. My 3.0 craps out at 3.4 usually. Sometimes I have to take the RAM out and switch it with my 2700 Samsung stick to get it to boot again.

If you're thinking of going the Intel route, I'd personally go with a phase change solution with a D0 stepping Prescott, or a good water setup with a Northwood 3.4 if youre after pure overclock.

You can expect about 4 Ghz from the Prescott 3.4 on a D0 stepping (30 Cap Malay jobby) at default voltage, some people are achieving this on air, so phase change added to that mix = hoooj overclocks (5.2 Ghz on a R404 based compressor achieved by Brwmogazos on the EP-UK forums), and the Northwoods tend to crap out at about 4.4 Ghz, which you're not gonna get on water alone.

The Asetek route would probably be the best option for you for phase change, as it's mounting system can be used on any current system, it has a full warranty (unlike the Mach II, as nVentiv went bankrupt) and is designed to dissipate a greater heatload than the Mach II GT, as it's utilising R507 gas in the compressor.

I wouldn't rule out the A64's if you do go phasechange though, as they are absolutely slaughtering the Intel equivalents in benchmarks when at high frequencies.
