After playing around with the eMachine shops software i drew up a quick image of what i need for my Aluminium heatsink box project, but i need to find a decent UK machinist as it would cost too much to have the eMachine shop do it.

Anyone know of a fair priced and efficient UK workshop that could do it from a basic picture/sketch. It's simple really just a block of copper thats had water channels milled into it - i'd do it myself if i had access to a mill.

anyway, heres an idea or two of what i want:

Has your Uni not got a machine shop?

tbh, i don't really know. I don't know anyone who does engineering, not even sure they offer it as a course here, s'pose can't hurt to ask someone if students are allowed access to whatever machinery there is.

Would just be easier to get it done for me right now, if not i'll have to wait until nearer xmas.

When I was at college last year, (I was doing an IT course) I managed to get the engineering dept to cut up my Sierra rad for me, and get the fittings I needed on the lathe (to remove the threads on a converter barb in order for the fitting to fit into the rad), so if you do have a machine department, I'm sure they'll be able to sort something out for you.

Worth a try asking around.

Other places are likely to charge quite a lot. Still have a look though your local yellow pages and you may be able to find something reasonable.

Theres a UK Bit-Tech member by the name of Enak (Kane backwards) who advertises waterblock etc machining. There was a post by soemone who got a waterblock design machined by him and said the service was excellent. :)
