The saga (http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=27) continues... (as does the cooling and the modding)

Now completely watercooled for your viewing pleasure -

Yup, that's a mosfet cooler. B)

and a watercooled AquaPower PSU

all running on a 5Watt 1046 Eheim pump. :)

Woah!! Very nice. Does that mosfet cooler actually help? And how loud is that thing. Has it only got those two fans on the rad?? :o

Woah!! Very nice. Does that mosfet cooler actually help? And how loud is that thing. Has it only got those two fans on the rad??! :o I haven't had time to play with my overclock yet (I still need to rebuild the work rig that I just took the AquaPower out of...) but I know they've been pretty toasty in the past at when I run my 1700+ (http://www.wizarddesigns.co.uk/images/cpuZ2435.png) at high FSBs.

How loud is that thing? Well, the 120s are rheoed Papst 4412 F/2GLs, rated at 26dB, 55.3CFM, so let's just say they're pretty easy to live with. :)
I've been turning up the rheo on them a bit to make up for the fact that I no longer have the F/2GML (32dB, 67.1CFM) on the PSU (combined with the fact that the AquaPower has no grille for the air to pass through, even without a fan there) but my next mod will probably be an outtake grill in the top above the PSU which should bring things back to normality again as regards the airflow and the lack of the third fan does make it a bit more silent.

Has it only got those two fans on the rad?? Yup. Bliss.

First up... nice rig Pug!

Second of all, been looking at various watercooling stuff and nothing comes close to Aqua Computers products so far in my books! Fell in love with it when someone posted a pic of his rig in our CoolCaseGallery. I especially like the reservoirs!! Very cool looking.. even Innovatek copies it now I think...

So I was wondering if you ship to Singapore Pug. I could do Paypal and also needed your help in the configuration of the watercooling kit setup for my P4 rig.

Thanks for any help Pug! Awesome setup again!

Thanks for the reply matie!! I simply couldn't resist the temptation to bust out my credit card and buy them! LOL! But I'm new to watercooling so I'll need some help with the config... I do have a Swifty Kit in my rig now... they're simple to setup but nothing beats the looks of the Aquas!

Mod eh? That would be an honour!

I seen it in custom and had to find more pics

I'm about to get my first water-cooling going as soon as my student loan comes in and i was wondering what order you've got yours set up in.

Hi bud, thanks and welcome to WizD. :)

Currently it goes -
Res -> Pump -> Cpu -> Nb -> Gpu -> Voltage Regulators -> Psu -> Hdd -> Rad

I used to do my Gpu/Nb the other way round but this made for a smoother loop and still works really well.

Kerbump!

*Pug blows dust off thread (reminding him to do the same with radiator)*

Been a while since Hex got any love but now that there's the UK modding comp (http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=315) going down, I figured it was time to change that a little.
I started modding a bit more in preparation ...

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/rebel.jpg

^^^ The sidepanel fan was just getting in the way, and it's not like I was using it.

I made this to go in the hole...

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/joggle.jpg

using not much more than you see below ('cept a planishing hammer that I couldn't find till I'd nearly finished  )

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/handTools.jpg

Yes, those are secateurs - I couldn't find my side-cutters :D
Anyone says they don't have the right tools for modding isn't looking hard enough.

I do have a few more photos to compile a bit of a guide if this all goes to plan but thought I'd just post a few taster pics for now.
I just hope I can finish it in time.

To be continued... :h34r:

The hexagonal cut out is a good idea, fits perfectly to the hexmesh.
BUT me wants more pics. A lot more pics ^_^

Thx kazuo. I have a bunch more on the camera for future use but no time to put them all up yet, so I thought I'd just be selective for now.

more to come though... ^_^

Yeah! Pug's back in the garage ...err, I mean car port?
Car port? I should be so lucky!
(the car port was at the old house... what you see is more of an alcove (at just under 2.5' x 3') :p

Even so, I've managed to get a bit further with it.
*Pug skips several photos of the process*

Ta-daa! B)

Now to rescue the door from its little altercation with being shut a little bit too hard... :o

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/doorCrk.jpg

You'd be surprised how much extra weight the filler adds when you go to flick it shut like you used to be able to...

Hex hole came out beauty.

Wish I could be there for the contest <_<

Pug
7th July 2004, 22:07
Star, it's the same process I used before, near enough. :)
Isopon P40 (fibreglass bridging filler)
Isopon Metalik (alu based medium filler)
Generic 1K Stopper (fine surface filler).

Unfortunately, I appear to have left all my primers (etch & hi-build, most importantly) at the old house, so it's not going to have the same finish I got previously in time for the weekend. :(

The crack in the door's fixed ok now but without the primers above (and the plastic primer) it won't look its best.
I may have to break out some strategically placed stickers or something.

Me too Bill. :sigh:

Ok, a few pics showing how I went from hole to whole... ^_^

Following on from previous pics...

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/1tape.jpg

Once all was flush, I taped up to prevent unnecessary mess and plastered a bunch of P40 on the back side...

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/2tape.jpg

Peeling the tape away shows the fundamental basis for a transition such as this... bridging filler.

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/3back.jpg

Inside the panel, it looks grim but could have been worse
Time for a clean up...

Time to employ a few ninja precision masking techniques... :h34r:
seen from the front ...
http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/4tape.jpg

... and the back (cleaned up a little)

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/5tape.jpg

and so we begin...

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/6tape.jpg

back in a tick... this is the hardest bit to photograph without a helper handy {and I tend to mod when I can get everyone else out of the house so they don't complain about the funny smells emanating from the kitchen (well, not these ones anyway :p )}

Pug
6th August 2004, 14:18
As you may see, the filler cures pretty quick and although one second your spreader will do what its name implies, it's very easy for it to become a "dragger" in no time flat.
At this point, stop. Let it cure and flat it, imperfections and all.
You can always add a fresh layer where necessary afterwards. :)

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/7tape.jpg

http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/8tape.jpg

For reasons apparent in the above photo, if you're not well practised (sp?) at this, do one side at a time. You'll only find yourself buggering up the other side otherwise.

Pug
6th August 2004, 14:31
After flatting that back, you'll be pretty much at the stage I was earlier in the thread.
Let's see how I dealt with the original crack in the door... (http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/Pug/sideMesh/doorCrk.jpg)

Warning: Those of a sensitive disposition may wish to scroll past the following "Mod Mutilation" pics with eyes closed tightly. :h34r:

Oops. Forgot to mention, that's just resin, not filler.
It's what you normally use with fibreglass matting (but it's runny as f$ck on its own - that was applied after it had begun to cure very slightly, hence the globular effect).

Btw, fwiw, that's a pic of the repair I did before going to ModFest. now I need to do it again but the deformation of the mesh itself will make it a bigger job this time around.  :(
