I can draw up all my ideas on the pc on photoshop and whatnot but when it comes to drawing them on the case im pretty rubbish and it never turns out how i want. so does anyone have any tips how i can get my case designs looking like the ones i actually want?

I have just recently found this site, and its awesome!!!
So, this is my first post :D
Anyhow, i am horrid at drawing, so i have an idea for when i mod my case, someday.
Here is what i will do:
Find the picture, print it.
Goto a tattoo shop and ask them if they will paint it, at least the outline, on your case for their hourly rate
Best i can come up with lol.

Thats a real good approach JBM. Tattoo Artists are Illustrators afterall.
Another thing Toby can do, break down the design into sections and print those out into templates to be cut out and traced onto the case.
What I do, I apply "Transferite" paper over the case and pencil sketch over that. Gives you capability to erase lines as you sort out your design.
Trasnferite paper is sold in rolls by Professional Sign Supply Shops

i will have to go check some of that transferite paper out. i mean designs for cutting its hard for me to do text and stuff cause i am so poor at art but i can cut all the designs out.Normally i put masking tape all over the panel and get the shape ready to cut for like blowholes and stuff but its harder when i want to do an actual design

That stuff sounds pretty handy. The problem I had though, was realizing that the tape I used was off center and thus, the design (simple Airplex EVO 260 grill) was off as well.

Its a classic , nice to see americans can get our wierd sense of humour sometimes :D
I tend to design by hand onto a masked case , I've never found an easier solution but its not perfect. I'd love an a2 plotter that can plot onto some kind of special masking paper but thats just a dream :D

Toby, if it helps at all i can get those transparencies printed for you on a digital laser printer (A4 only im afraid unless you want to buy some a3 and send it to me), i think. The only thing is im not at work next week [yay 4 nights in the isle of white to get away from it all] so it would be the week after. I'll also have to check to make sure we have some but im pretty sure we do.
