Ought to be interesting to see what creativity transpires here in the months to come.
Hi, so far I'm the only Yank here.. Bill Owen
Pug (Richard Pugh of Wizard Designs) is a good mate. At times I may refer to Pug as Infi. Short for Infidel. His screen name from Ars-technica where I first met him. Pug is one of the few Resellers whos active in the Mod Community. Hes a damn good business man to boot. Would bend over backwards to make a customer happy if neccessary.
Now, who are you and what brings you to this forum.. Most importantly, lets get some friggin mods/worklogs rollin here!! B)

hmmm takes a quick look round.
Hi Bill
Im Knipex (aka Kevin) and Im the Irish member. I also got to know Pug / Infi / Rich on Arstechnica and became his first customer (I think) when I bough a PSU from him. He got me interested in watercooling and as a reward I ended up here. :D
Rich is one of the best resellers I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with and customer service is second to none, so when he asked me if I was interested in helping out here I said sure.
I look forward to seeing the boards develop and getting to know the people here so lets get cracking with those mods people.

I'm Rich's original Forum Manager :p
Found him trying to look for Aqua-Computer gear. We didn't want to order from Germany so Rich provided a great service :D
We must have had nearly £1k's worth and everything has been good. A-C was our first W/C project so Rich made it a very easy experience.
Top Service! Enjoy the forums.

Hmm, where do I start?
How about "Sorry I'm late" (*me blushes, switches on the lights and heating and passes the beers around*)
At this point, I guess you all know me anyway but for future reference I'm Pug (Richard Pugh), aka Infidel on the Ars Technica forums, where I had the good fortune to meet Bill "mnpctech" Owen and Knipex (Kev), of the posters above me, who have both since become firm friends of mine.
Kev's an avid modder and Aqua Computer afficianado and we've chatted at length about various aspects of computer hardware - Kev knows his stuff, especially on the subject of electrickery amongst other things and after surmounting various problems in his own watercooling experience, you can generally rely on his opinion and his helpful posts to set you straight when your need arises.
Bill should need no real introduction but for those who aren't aware, just check out mnpctech.com (http://www.mnpctech.com) and then get back to us. ;)
Another massively helpful poster on forums I've seen him on, Bill is truly inspirational and without his help and input, HexaDragon would be just another Chieftec case with a rad in the front.
Offline and on, Bill is a great guy who I'm glad to know and I have muchos respect for him.
One of the main reasons I started WizD was to make our world a little smaller and more accessible to all. When I worked in a mom & pop PC store for a while, I was forever writing mails to companies like Alpha in Japan and Aqua Computer in Germany to see if we could get stock of some of the best products on the world market more easily.
That interest became an obsession and although I entertained the idea of taking on the business where I was working, I ended up striking out on my own and doing it all online.
It's great because it's also meant that through common interests, my site has brought other people to me, like Adwhitworth, who has turned out to be not just one of my best customers but also a veritable web hosting and software wizard and a good mate in times of need too. :)
Also, the mighty G-gnome (Pete - who needs no real introduction, as you'd have to have been hiding under a rock to not know about his work and yet still be able to find this place) who, high-profile as his work may be, is genuinely approachable and down-to-earth cool too. :)
Pete is a writer and moderator for Bit-Tech and the creator of the truly awesome Orac³ project (http://www.bit-tech.net/article/118/) which I'm personally honoured to have the tiniest bit of involvement in.
A hearty welcome and warm greetings to all and sundry.
I'd gush some more about how cool I think you all are but yes, we need to fill up on some threads.
Thanks to Bill for making this thread in my absence and Adam for the work on the forums - truly excellent (although I don't know how long I'll survive without a blushing/embarrassed smilicon! :p )

Weeel, Happy Holidays.
Hangover subsided I thought I'd say 'Hi'!
I'm the Aussie dude here  . I mod mostly over at bit-tech.net and got to know Pug through his many contributions to the modding scene and his always-good advice. This forum should provide peeps not only with a place to talk water cooling but to share other ideas as well. I'm glad to be here with great modders like mnpctech, whos work I have admired even since before I started modding.
I'm not good with introductions so I'll just say how happy I am to be part of the Wizard Designs Forum. I hope that people will be able to look at this as a place where they can get reliable, real-world advice and contribute ideas in a fun, mature and welcoming environment. :)
Happy Modding and see you in the forums!
Regards

Not much modding necessary there then. B)

Rons got some nice mods of his own too. I've seen his Cheiftec w/ UV theme chassis and Addtronics project in person. Also a Watercooling enthusiast whos very good with detailing his internals. Can do a mean PSU sleeving job too. :)

Hi there. Like what you've done to the place... *looks around appreciatively*
Most people won't know anything about me. I've been involved in computers since they became available to the European hobby market in 1981-ish. My first computer was a C64 (1982) which I soon modded with selectable OS ROM chips, reset switch (they didn't come with one , CPU status LEDs and a Parallel interface to speed up that e v e r - s o - s l o w C1541 5.25" floppy drive. Later I had an Amiga 500, which I upgraded to an Amiga 2000... Then I had a P90 (Dan Technologies), followed by a home-built PII-266 which I am using now. I am currently building Metaversa, a water-cooled dual Athlon, the project log of which is at Bit-Tech at the moment. It is my first real PC mod, so to speak.
You'll have noticed me loitering with intent in places like ProCooling.com and Bit-Tech.net forums. I also visit OS customising forums like Aqua-Sort.org and Winmatrix.com however, and Deviantart.com, as I feel the irrisistible urge to mod the software side as well as the hardware side. You don't want to know what twisted things I have done to my W98 OS... :p As such Project Metaversa will not stop just at the hardware build --think a radically tweaked OS. ;)
Other interests are computer graphics, virtual reality, man-machine interfaces, product design, cyberpunk and cybernetic enhancement, artificial intelligence, science in general. I read Neal Stephenson, Justina Robson and the New Scientist (and so should you :) ). Mod-man by night, during the day I am a mild-mannered (well, not really) neuropsychologist working in brain injury rehabilitiation and adult mental health. Oh, and I draw cartoons. :D

Hello! Eddie aka scopEDog here from NYC and the Bit-Tech, Pheaton forums. Found Pug from BT, and as it turns out he was selling some cool german WCing stuff. I dont know how he does it, but he has put up with my 1 million question emails back and forth....thanks for that Pug ;) The best online store definitely and geniunely cares for his customers..I definitely recommend :)
I've been into PCs since the rip old age of 12 and started my obsession with an HP 110 (for those that dont know, that is an OLLLLLDDDD CP/M terminal that HP made) and quickly made the jump to a nice AT&T 286. Then it just snowballed from there. Been into watercooling forever it seems, and love modding. PRIME was my first all out custom built project and hopefully just the beginning ;). I hope to exchange ideas with you guys, so we can take modding to the next level (insert thumbs up smilie here).
Good to see such talent (great to hear that nexxo is here...hey bro!) on these forums and its turning out to be a top notch place. I gotta say that Bill, I'm a long time fan of your work. Even though we never formally met, I've always checked out your site from the sidelines :)
Ok enough talking...lets get down to business :D

Hehe, welcome Nexxo and Eddie. B)
Nexxo hails from my old stamping ground in the Midlands and I've always had respect for his posting style and modding abilities, together with his approach to potential watercooling problems and pitfalls.
Having served him up with an Aquatube a while back (which he dutifully modified... as you do) he's also helped me out sourcing the odd hard to find item in the course of things. Most appreciated. :)
scopEDog, as mentioned, is the brains behind PRIME and happens to be one of my best long-term US patrons. Always a pleasure to do business with or even just chat to, again Eddie has a posting style and flair for modding that I have full respect for.
Due to previous orders, Eddie has had experience with many Aqua Computer products and direct feedback from me on the application of many of them.
A much valued asset to the forum, I'm sure.
Mod status now invoked, you're both part of the growing crew now (and what a crew, as mentioned above B)).

Just to echo Knipex's sentiments - and say sorry that Ive been tied up for the past couple of days and haven't been able to greet everyone straight away.
You're all more than welcome here - this thread alone feels like the beginnings of stuff that legends are made of, what with the posters in it...
mashie, you beat me to mailing you. :p :)
Crimson Sky, nice to see you here - fate tends to work in mysterious ways and I'm glad it worked to send you our way. :)
Oh and I had no doubt that you'd behave, honest.
I just wondered how well... ;)
Starbuck3733T, again, you beat to the mail. I haven't had a chance to follow up any pre-Xmas mails yet, so I'll check back through to see exactly where we got to on those drive coolers.
Good to see you here though and copy/paste should work fine for the most part (plus we're moving to vB3 soon) but you might have to slim down your inline filesize if you want me to check them regularly... [Edit] (should have been a wink here but the forum software is rationing my smileys)
Welcome, dude.
(BTW. mnpctech & Nexxo - very apt, question is, how to find a challenge worthy enough? We've already saved the world from beige boxes - mebbe it's time to banish the blue neon, windowed, lit fan jobbies that have taken their place :h34r: )
Gruntman, hi & well met again. Sorry I've not made it back to your forums yet but tell Dick thanks from me for an honest review.
Like you, I can't wait until the guys in here start trying to outdo each other on style points - I'm looking forward to a daily optical massage when the place takes off properly.
Thanks for coming along.
*me jumps into the hug with a big cheesy grin on* :D
Btw, if anyone in the thread so far wants their title changing to something more suitable before the real n00bs get here ;) , drop me (or Ad) a line with what you prefer and one of us'll sort it out for you.

Hi All :)
I am here after meeting Pug on bit-tech only a few months ago.
Real name is Max Withington...
I am new to PCs in the wintel sense of the word, but have been with them since the BBC Model B :D 32k Woo! My Graphic Calculator had 32k at least 5 years ago and that was just about pocketable.
I am currently in the process of switching from Apple Mac to PC, and have decided to go the whole hog self build (specs to be revealed soon :D ), at first it will be just a standard build, a few lights maybe, adding water cooling not too long after, but hopefully it will turn into a quality mod...
Good to meet you all, these forums look like they could really take off :)

Pug,
As requested, I thought I'd drop by and say hi properly. But since this is a tech forum, I might as well ask a proper techy question.
Anyone know what processors the the original A7N8X Deluxe mobo supports? I've currently got an Athlon XP 2700+ sitting in mine but it occured to me today that sometime in the future I might want to add some more horsepower.
Oh, and if anyone has seen Squelch, let me know... :-)

I suppose I better reply here B)
Hello to everyone, I met Pug over on bit-forums a while back when I was out on the look for some silencing surgery on my main rig. Air just wasn't cutting it. :D
I'm a great fan of Rich's Customer Service, it's what all online stores should offer, and it's a great credit to him that he has such a great reputation around every hardware forum that I frequent. I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone, simply outstanding.
Anyway, a bit about myself... I'm currently a student at Loughborough University studying Retail Management, and I've been provisionally accepted onto the Tesco Graduate Scheme (acceleration to Store Management and beyond). All I need to do is get my degree. ;)
Aside from that, I'm an avid computer hardware enthusiast and I love to void warranties. I'm a pretty avid overclocker, and I'm fairly well into benchmarking and tweaking (when time permits of course). I'm just starting to dabble in with voltage mods and other crazy stuff like that. Many of you may know me from my moderating duties over on bit-tech.net forums, possibly one of the friendliest forums I have ever had the pleasure of visiting, to be made a moderator was a great honour, I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping people out with problems, especially if it regards overclocking things! :D
I also enjoy case modification, but usually my money goes into buying the best hardware I can rather than modifying my next case. I'm looking at constructing a benchmarking case in the near future, much like the senfu PC stands. Plans for it to be watercooled, and built for performance over looks. I may even get crazy enough to start messing with TECs, this comes later though. B)
I'm glad to be here, and it's nice to see a lot of familiar faces around.
Look forward to sharing some stories with you here about the death of my hardware from too many volts or some other crazy thing I end up doing.

Hi everbody. I recognise a few names from Bit-Tech which is where all my modding really started at.
I'm always on the look out to learn more about water cooling and general computing so this should be a good place.
Oh and Jazzer. If you mean a pre rev2 board then it will take all XP chips up to the 3200+
They start having problems in the higher FSB's (~180 onwards) and most won't get to 200mhz without a volt mod. (which I will be doing to mine shortly :D)

I've been pretty subtle about spreading the good word at this stage, I'd have loved to be able to make time to mail you and everyone else I'd like over here but you all seem to be making it anyway, which is cool. B)
Hi again Jazzer. Nice one for dropping in. Hopefully Squelch'll sniff us out in time.
Don't worry about the tech side of it too much btw, we have two lounges and a "creative" section too y'know. ;)
bigZ - as I mentioned in the mail to you (and in an earlier post on here) I've been meaning to invite you along since we opened. Like the other mods here, you have the sort of posting stance I admire & aspire to when I can; helpful & laid back, as I'd like this place to be in general (the fact that you can speak from experience on some of our products stands you in great stead here anyway) *me heads to the admin panel...*
Cheers for the props in return. B)
Darv, I've probably welcomed you elsewhere anyway but as you know we're glad to have ya.
Sorry you're not feeling the goodness from our cooling parts yet but we'll get you sorted out as a priority when things are back in shape again.
The upside is you'll get the benefit of all these guys experience when you come to set it up, & not just mine. :)
Enjoy the fora, folx.

I'm Phil (aka Fillip) unimaginative name but it has stuck since someone decided to spell it like that at senior school
Have been posting on these forums for about a month now but never noticed this introductory thread until today!!
I've been into the mod scene for about 2 1/2 years but only ever used the forums, like bit-tech's for my own research and looking into what other ppl were doing, so most ppl wont have a clue who i am.
I recognise a fair few of the names here though, be it from bit-tech or just from their work. Wont name names cos they all know who they are!! the little modding geniuses that they are!! awwwww...
Anyways, im at uni right now studying Law and Info Systems (essentially computing and web/system design) i'm broke! (who isn't) and i'll be starting a new project come the summer which i'll obviously be posting on this lurvely WizD forum
anyways, lookin' foward to chattin' with you all.

Hi All
This is my watercooling life story so far.
I got the water cooling bug at the end of september 03, I was doing my research on water cooling and was almost ready to blow my wad on critidangerteck or something along those lines when i came across a site run by Rich aka pug.
After many emails and a few weeks i purchased a "Highend 360 kit" which promptly arrived. My kit is now up and running in my old server case , Not the best looking case in the world but it is purely functional, i have some internal work to do on it and i am prototyping some fan controllers to finish it off when i have the time... I will post Photo's, But i need to finished my website which will be the site is will be up shortly nothing there yet.
Mrhardware (http://www.Mrhardware.co.uk)
I have been a member of the forum since January under the alias of "satman"
but i figured i needed to Move on from my old name to the one that links me to my business and upcoming website.
Thanks to all of you out there for the info in the fast growing Forum and especially Pug for showing me the light and supplying me with "The dogs dangle bits" which we all know as Aquacomputers Kit.

Hi Mack. Welcome to WizD. :)
Opening time is fast approaching, don't worry. ;)
We're not yet Vat-registered, so you don't have to add the Vat, (just shipping and 2.5% transaction fee if you use PayPal).
Hi again properly Phil.
Nice to know a bit more about you and I can't wait to see your mods.
I'm the same with sticky threads myself y'know, they just seem to hover out of my line of sight sometimes.
Satman/Mrhardware - You've actually just broken an unwritten rule (but don't sweat it).
When the new forum is properly up, there will be strictly one user:one name policy but as this is the temporary forum (and you have a good excuse ;)), it's cool with me.
For future reference, name changes should be done through the forum admin.
Good luck with your new business, I'm sure you'll find a good resource here for all kinds of support. :)

Hello everyone.
I'm an angry scotsman who likes tinkering/breaking things, a bit of the old modding and a nice spot of overclocking. :)
When I'm not doing all that I play for and help run a counter-strike squad @ www.digitalkillerz.com. This consumes most of my spare time.
I mostly post on AMDB forums in the DFI mainboards section, but I lurk around in quite a few others. This place has some quite familiar (and knowledgable) people who I've seen around on various other forums so I may have to frequent it a bit and share your wealth of knowledge and (possibly) spread some of my own. :D
Cheers folks,

25th May 2004, 23:13
I havent formally introduced myself yet, as my spangly projects are currently in limbo due to lack of funding (damn college to hell) and I have been slightly intimidated by the sheer amount of reknown skill meisters perusing these forums.
Me name'd Andy, got into the PC lark about 2 years ago after building my own system from spare parts as I was bored, have been browsing the forums for ages, but signed up this March.
I managed to mutilate several cases last year with my amazing *cough* crap *cough* dexterity with the wonderous junior hacksaw (yes I'm too lazy to get a dremel!) and then started doing things properly after paying a visit to Mr Owen's site and leaving rather gob smacked.
My initial watercooling experience consisted of me getting fed up with idle temps of 56 degrees on a stock Athlon 2000, and using a heater matrix from a Reliant Robin, a Danger Den block epoxied to a K7S5A and a pond pump nicked from my dad. All plumbed in using auto tubing secured with zip ties!
My current main project is slightly better than that, and will consist of 2 seperate loops( Cascade SS and Maze 4 GPU on a passively cooled Ford Sierra radiator, NB, Mosfets and HDD's on equipment from here) in a Black Widow (mmmm spangly) slightly modified for better airflow. Second project is a horrible 10 quid steel case, which is getting a full hack n rebuild a la Mnpctech stylee
Anyway, thats enough from me, I'm sure you all have better things to do than read my random nonsense all day :)
Keep inspiring me guys :D

We're all just a bunch of folk with a common interest here, mucking in together & sharing ideas. Like you, I wish I had more time to implement the ideas this place gives me but every extra member has something worthwhile to contribute whether they know it or not (and it's the ones that don't that can often inspire us old hands the most {mnpctech et al excepted of course ;))}.

Ohh, haven't seen this thread before. ^_^
My Name is Marc and i'm from Germany. As I got really bored with the German boards i started reading American and British boards. I noticed that they are very familiar and i began reading more foreign boards than German ones.
The only German board where i'm really active is the Aqua Computer Board. I've been there since the beginning and they asked me to become a moderator last year. Cool job but sometimes it's really exhausting.
Since i was a kid i loved to do handicrafts. My mom told me that i even painted my toys with her makeup stuff to make 'em stand out of the crowd when i was 2 or 3 years old. because i'm half japanese we were very often in japan for vacation and i always bought a lot of plastic figure kits to Germany. Gluing, Painting etc ... damn I loved it
I also loved and still love building my own furniture.
It was just a matter of time to start modding my computer. I like trying new things. B)
here (http://www.ryoto.com/pub/pc50) you can see some pictures of my old rig.
currently i got two projects in progress. a small shuttle which will be watercooled by ac stuff and a "thing" which will be about 4.5 feet tall :D

Very glad to have you aboard. (I just wish our member count would increase enough for me to justify offering a position of moderator to people like yourself & dutchcedar too...)

hi there
my name is Yashar and i am from germany too (but no native german, i was born in iran)
kazuo gave me the link to this forum and i have to say that i am really impressed by the stuff you guys do with your cases!
my story is nearly like kazuo's^_^ (nothing beats his way of modding! i just luv his pc50^_^ )
i always had the urge to mess around with my toys and to disassemble everything
so it was pretty obvious that i started to mod my cases
all my mods are mostly pretty simple because i want my cases to look "smooth", stylish and not so overloaded like a runway of an airport:rolleyes:
i would like to show you some pics of my old mods but unfortunately a friend of mine deleted the cd-rw where all the pics where on:unsure:
here are some details of my different mods
deus-ex lan case
a mid-tower with a deus-ex cut out and a massive 120 blowhole in the frontpannel
hitman-case
a full tower case with an window and hitman cut out on the sidepannel
the cases was painted with black gloss paint
this was also my first watercooling setup:o
like kazuo i am an old aqua-computer freak
the cpu was cooled by the good old cuplex 1.0 and i used a bong cooler for the water:lol: (oh boy, that was an impressive setup^_^ )
here are the last pics i have from my old mods
(their are really crappy and very old, but you can get an idea...)
http://www.thegoom.com/artikel/artikel.pl?artikel=55
and here one of the hitman case and the bong (before the case got painted)
hitman case (http://www.pixum.de/members/bloodfeud/?act=a_view&album=170051&i_pos=16&page=2&ktw=6349d4bceab5406c1bcfcc226273a5b9)
my actual setup is also cooled with aqua-computer parts and the case is the lian li pc82
here is the thread i opened some hours ago :D
http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=355
in three or four months i will start with my next mod which is going to be again with lian li (pc v2000:o ) and aqua-computer (this will be my third watercooling-setup)
i hope you like my style of modding because here in germany people think it's too simple and not fancy enough (as kazuo mentioned below, the forums in germany are somehow....)
and sorry for my bad english, the english we learn here in germany really sucks:rolleyes:

Hi Yashar. Welcome to WizD. B)
I hope we don't have too many preconceptions here about how people should do their mods. If it suits your needs and improves things from how they were when you got them, it's a worthwhile mod. :)

it is not that i do not like the really tricky and big mods... (like chewy's grizzly:o )
it's just that i like the , lets call it "oldschool" way of modding with little details like a nice fanbus and baybus and one or two goog positioned blow-wholes (and of course some other details...)

I havent been much of a lurker i just joined yesterday. I found this board through the mnpctech fan filter how to i wanted to read it but i had to reg so i figured i might as well look around while im here and i like it. I am a regular poster over at casemodgod.com I have been into modding since last october but am just now starting my first case it is a thermaltake xaser classic no longer in production. You can see the pics of what ive done so far here: http://www.casemodgod.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1560 Ive dremeled out the fan grates for better airflow and since you wont see the back im not concerned about the looks. Im going to have it painted by my friends dad and it is going to be a Sunburst Orange Metallic along with my dvd burner and if i can find a fan controller that has red leds like the ones Will sells. Im ordering an orange tinted window for the side and i will be doing three blowholes on the top panel. As for other mods im not quite sure yet. Ive done alot of reading and researching and even though i dont have a modded case i consider myself a well informed modder.
Welcome to WizD :)
As for that case though, it's just a re-badged (by Thermaltake) Chenming chassis. You can still buy them as Chieftec Dragons (I recently built my flatmate a PC using one).

Ive also been in the watercooling game for many years so hopefuly i can lend a hand at something. I make a few bits n bobs for people now and again so if you need any custom work taking care of dont be shy to ask. Hoping to turn it in to some sort of a buisness this year but dont worry Pug its more on the building side of things than selling so you wont get much compeition from me

Yeh that was me. Thanks for the compliment but i must say its not attualy anywhere near finished yet (ive done about 25% of what i want to). I just stopped work for exams and i never get much modding done in the summer anyway as im allways doing somethingg with my cars/bikes. You should see another update by the end of the monthB)
Hey Slater, kudos on a clean rig & welcome to WizD.
Old hands' expertise is always welcome here, as are fresh ideas. Look forward to seeing your input.
25% finished eh? For many people, it might look like you meant 25% to do... should prove interesting. B)
I'll be watching for ideas for mine by the sound of it. :)

I guess this is the place to begin. Mnpctech gave me an engraved invitation ;) and I thought I would say hello to fellow modders. I'm an old fart that was real into building model cars when I was a kid in the 60s and now I'm just as addicted to modding computers.
Last Oct., my computer system, Functional Design (http://www.computerpoweruser.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles/archive/c0310/30c10/30c10.asp&guid=n4tf4480), was featured in CPU Magazine. I have started a couple other projects since then, but I am nearing completion of The Grump Case (http://www.coolermaster.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=100). It's nothing fancy, but I'm havin' fun with it.
I enjoy forums a lot and have participated on several. I have made myself kind of regular on GideonTech (http://forums.gideontech.com/index.php) the last couple of weeks and Gideon has been kind enough to post a couple of my articles (Acrylic Scratch Fix (http://www.gideontech.com/content/articles/232/1) and Quiet That Hyper 6 CPU Cooler (http://forums.gideontech.com/viewtopic.php?t=25558)). I like to write and I hope I'll be able to do more of it as concerns modding.
Here's hoping WizD Forums does well and that I get to meet many of you online here in the ether.

Damn Grump, render me impressed. Either I'm a no talent hack, or you've got some incredible jig sawing skills. I can't get a straight line on the damn thing for the life of me, which is why I'm saving $ for a bandsaw. Fence = straight lines.
Also, the grump case jives VERY well with your avatar/posting personality. The best mods are ones where the modders personality comes through w\ the design - yours, mnpctechs (hot rodding), mine (stealth/slickness). Great stuff, and I hope you stick around!

Thanks a lot. I especially appreciate you grabbing my avatar. I kinda feel nekkid without it -- an' that ain't a purty sight. ;)
Jigsawin' comes easier for me than Demeling because I use them in my flooring biz all the time. I'm gettin' better with the Dremel, but it's still a challenge.
I've looked at some of the work you guys are puttin' out. I hope I can grow into that kind of quality. It's always fun gettin' there too.
Thanks for the welcome.

Shucks I left it a while...
Anyway, work as a software architect for a yawnsome sweatshop in London. I started overclocking with the P2 450 and Celeron 333A on those classic BP6 boards yes and i remember the joy when i got 2500 3d01marks for the first time. I started watercooling about 18 months ago and with that came the modding - the two go hand in hand really don't they. My lanparty box was my first *serious* attempt. I have cut a few windows and blowholes before but now realise you need themes and originality to get a really nice result. I have so much kit around that it seems silly not to churn out a couple of projects a year as it's really unimportant what the hardware is as long as it's a nice o/c and a priddy box :D . Running a Prescott and an XP-M at the moment but only one at a time as I can only afford 1 gpu at the moment! Have a home network (win2k domain, 2003 domain server) and have 80gb of mirrored webspace (thanks to http://www.no-ip.com (http://www.no-ip.com/) !). I struggle sometimes to get the time to do this hobby but when i get in the mood i become quite boring about it
Three tips from me:
1) Never *EVER* get married.
2) Your company lies to you, start up your own!
3) Spraying cases in the garage can make you high
Thanks

Hi, I am godfoot (Mike) and I have know about these forums for some time (why I never joined is beyond me) via Bill (mnpctech) as he is also a member at PimpRig where I am a forum moderator.
I am a Pink Floyd fan as well so I obviously love the Wall themed case and am working on my own Floyd theme currently....... Animals.
It is going a bit slow now as I am preparing to move about a month from now but I get a bit done here and there as I can.
I will be posting pics in the forums here before too long, but if you just happen to be itching to see the beginnings of it so far, you can check out the thread over at PimpRig here:
http://forums.pimprig.com/showthread.php?t=27233
Once down in Texas, I will have lots more room to work with and access to a few more power tools that I don't have currently so the progress should go much quicker once I get settled in down there.
I am looking forward to viewing the rest of the site here as I have already seen a few awesome projects from members here.

Hey godfoot, welcome to wizd man!
Thanks bro, glad to be here. It is refreshing to get a new perspective and to see some more, unusual mods that folks come up with.
I am itching to get back to work on Animals (waiting on a few parts/tools, plus early packing for the move) so I will probablywork on some interior stuff tomorrow. I am currently running on air but want to do test fits to make sure the future transition to water is as painless as possible. I have plenty of room to work with, but I want it all to fit "just so", I am sure you can sympathize here. ;)
I have a DD setup with the copper TDX, maze 4 chipset block, Hydor (if I recall correctly) pump, BIX II rad (and a heater core, not sure from what vehicle), and a dual 3.5 bay res. I also had a dual 5.25 bay res but since I want this res to be custom, I traded that for some other goodies.
At any rate, does anyone know where I can find Dzus fittings on the cheap?

Thanks for the info Bill!
I didn't see exactly what I was looking for on that particular site, only place I have seen exactly what I want is on a site from the UK..... a small airplane service site.
Basically what I am looking for is a small (as in diameter) variety of quarter-turn, self-locking screws (spring-loaded variety) to attach the metal below the mobo tray. Maybe the regional rep will know where I can find the exact variety I am looking for.
Thanks again.

Here's a sort of formal write up of yours truly :)
Let's see, I was born in Albuquerque New Mexico en-route to Syracuse NY. My parents ended up staying in NM for a few months more and then when I was 5 months, we left for Syracuse. In Syracuse we had a house with a basement and an attic, plus a 50 yeard backyard (not sure how else to phrase it) and a pretty darn long driveway. Why is this important? Well, the house cost $40 grand and we payed outright, oh so low. When my sister was born we moved back to New Mexico, but chose Santa Fe. My dad was a full fledged Neurosurgeon at the time, so he joined a partnership with another guy so he wouldn't have to do it all himself. I've been here ever since. I'm a junior in college, but I dropped out a few years ago. Uh, I'll be 27 this year too.
Other facts you should know is that I hate when people misspell and use bad grammar, but I myself have really bad spelling and nearly no grasp of proper grammar.
I love my PC and water cooling, I also love my Gamecube. I'm single atm and I have asthma. I've got a joint and bone disease, but I only think it's one of the many forms of Arthrogryposis (my doctor disagrees with the geneticist who diagnosed me) and I have a bearded dragon named Le'Chuck (he's a hypomelanistic - lacks some kind of pigment).
THE END! ^_^
I felt I needed something a little more in-depth than saying hello.

What kind of geckos? I had a crested gecko a few years ago, and before that a leopard gecko. Neither died, I sold them to a pet store.

I'm sure the 'EDIT' and 'REPLY' buttons are now the wrong way round. It never happened before today, and it's because i go to do it instinctively rather than checking which one i'm hitting. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif

It's gotta be cause you've become a mod, it's happening to me too. I thought I quoted Pug, but right before I hit submit, something didn't seem right because there was no quote, so I backed my browser up and there was Pugs post... And I was like eh?... Uh, yeah, then I realized it was because the buttons have jumped and nothing is what it seems.
It sure takes a long time to format 300gb's, err 280gb's.

Allrighty, I should also mention that I have a western Hognose snake. She just came out of her winter brumation (hibernation) yesterday. When I went to pick her up, she was hissing and struck at me a few times. Normally that would mean nothing, cause little snake bites (she's about 30"/762mm) are harmless, but she has a mild venom, not so much that she's classified as a venomous snake, she's not classified at all, nor is any mention that she has venom made available in any published non internet materials. Since my snakehook broke (I was screwing around and lifting computer parts, and it snapped), I used a pillowcase to lure her into, then when I had her in my lap, I slowly emptied her into my hands, then she calmed down and I held her for a few hours. Right now she's not comming out, and when I reached in to pick her up, she hissed and flattened her hood (to look like a cobra). Using the pillowcase I'll take her out again, but I thought I'd share this, since I've only posted about my dragon before. Oh, and pics to come!
Here's some info:

The guy had to let the snake chew on him for 5 minutes to get en-venomated... Since she's rear fanged it's hard to inject, kinda like a Boomslang, cept the Boomslangs venom will kill a herd of elephants.

Hi all,
Kent based enthusiastic amateur.
Not new to forums; don't ask (cue the questions).
I'm after a new angle on this box of tricks near my feet.
Hope to be able to create something worth posting about sometime in the not too dim n' distant future - Dremel equipped and ready^_^

It doesn't matter if you belong/moderate/administer/own another forum, aslong as it isn't constantly pimped here - especially if those forums are closely associated with a company selling w/c equipment.
But now you got me intrigued

I will start a worklog when I finally get around to commit tools to case.
It'll be a short while yet; unfortunately there's walls to paper, skirting to paint, floors, kitchen, etc... basically a house mod really.
Yeah... that makes me feel happier about it.
I'm modding my house. :D

S'pose he should be thankful he didn't get the snakes mixed up then. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/happy.gifThey look nothing alike! The Boomslang is long and green to brown, and lives up in African trees. It's somewhat expensive to import them, cause you need all sorts of licenses and special shipping. Hogs on the other hand, are burrowers and you can't miss the upturned snout, although they do look like little vipers.
Did you know there's only 1 poisonous snake in the entire UK (and the countries not considered the UK too, I mean the cluster inbetween most of Europe and Maine)?

I wasn't actually seriously suggesting that he could mix them up, just that it would be a rather unfortunate error were he to mix them up http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif

A long time mate, as well as a gaming & modding buddy, he's someone I turn to when I need a knowledgeable ear.
Instrumental in the formation of this fine establishment known as WizD, I'm sure he'll make his presence both known and appreciated in many areas of technological know-how (and probably contribute his fair share of gutter-humour too :D).

Rough Cider is what you want. If it doesn't have straw and other detritus in it then send it back cos it's not genuine
