Hey guys, I have been following your site for months now after meeting with HAL on the [H]ardOCP forums. He referred me to MNPCTECH.com and from there ..... well you know the route. Anyways I am greg. Dont really know how you all go about introducing each other but all I can say is that I am a confessed dork/geek (or so my wife says) and currently work in the Semiconductor industry. Well with that said *rubs hands together while looking around* Wheres the beer? Please tell me you guys drink the good stuff, I am talking about Guinness!!!! Anyways, hope to see you all around and build a good friendship and modding crew with you all.

I've looked at the crawler ones, and they are 3-5 times more expensive than a R2R rally car... wich I would prolly have just as much fun with... if you look here (http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8&page=15) you can see that I have an RC Jeep... it fun, but need more power.

The only good thing about it is that it has actual 4wd(2 motors, 1 at each axle).... the suspension flex is weak and the motors kinda give up when the roads get too steep. I picked it up around x-mas for $25... retails for like $55+

i fly out of norwich. have a armkiller 4m bullet (that scares me ) and a nice little Firebee 2.4, also have in the bag a little radsale 1.4m for my godson. he loved having a tow from the 4m bullet so i brought him a baby foil too play with. just learnt him the wind window and he a right little daredevil. give him 2 years and he will be 8yr old and big enough for the firebee 2.4 :D have a twisted knee so flying is slow and steady in 5-7mph winds. been told if try any heavy stuf could tear knee joint and will realy hurt. chased my mate too buy a powerkite, two days later he emails me with "hi paul im somewhat incapacitated at the moment etc etc I broken my arm "

i think i did things in reverse order...i've already started posting my worklog. :) oh well. background, software engineer, not quite 30, yet. did IT work from 15-23, when i finished college, engineering since then. southeast usa (georgia) is where i reside.
i've always had a knack for 'creating' things, though many times they don't work right, so i'm kinda a trial-and-error sorta person. i've always enjoyed working with tools and think it's amusing when someone isn't handy. i grew up around tools & diy stuff, so sometimes i forget that not everyone did.
as far as modding, not too much on computers. i told myself last year that i'd probably never build another system again, as long as i was happy with the quality that dell put out, but then i got this hankering for something that i couldn't readily find premade, a bitchin' server. they're out there, but for the price they didn't look very nice. anyway my experiences come from a bunch of 'car mods' back in my early 20's, messing with show cars, hydraulics, stereos, mobile tv's, etc. i'm comfortable with a dremel and can do a little finishing work, as well. i just need more tools, but who doesn't? :)
i hope to gain opinions and direction from the wizd forums. all you guys are into helping each other with techniques, sourcing parts, brainstorming, and creating, while not being biased against anyone or their ideas. one of the biggest things i like about what i've seen here is that people are never discouraging in their remarks towards someone elses work.
i don't know how much modding i'll be doing when i finish my current project. i'm not doing this as a hobby, like many of you, i'm doing it as a project. when the next project comes along, though, you can be assured that i'll be documented here. :)

Hello there and thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm 28, married, 2 kids, living in London with 2 jobs and still finding the time to dive into my favorite hobby, computer hardware.
My current rig isn't 'uber' (hey, I said I had 2 kids, so where is the money coming from :-D), but it does the job. I'm joining those forums to learn more about water cooling, because I find OCing on air a source of great frustration. :duh:
I like to take my time to choose my gear, so I'm planning for my watercooled rig to be ready in 2 or 3 months.

Hi to all here at WizD Forums!
I've been lurking around for a while and thought it was time to start
posting, so a quick introduction here should start me off nicely.
First, I'd like to pay my respects to: Pug, mnpctech, Starbuck3733T, and all
the other brilliant modders in this forum (you know who you are!). All of
you guys are truly inspirational, and giving of your time and knowledge -
cheers! :thumb:
I'm from Perth, Australia; am relatively new to modding (tho <3 it) but I've
certainly done plenty of reading 'round here.
I've just started building my computer: SG-PC, I'm going with a Stargate
theme as it's my fave tv show. I'll have millions of questions for you guys, on
some of the ideas I have, so all help is appreciated! I will also probably start
a worklog (once I figure out the do's 'n' don'ts to worklog posting), that way
I can share the progress of my work.
Great to be hanging out with you all - Keep Modding!
Regards,
David.

Hello Fellow Modders,
For my first post I figured an introduction here would be best.
My name is Bryan, Im 34, married w/ 3 kids (4,3 and 1 yr old) and live in Detroit.
I got into modding in early 2003 and was totally hooked and had multiple
projects brewing. With the arrival of our second born 1 year & 2 days after our 1st born, time and money wasnt really available. So unfortunately
all I had to show for it was a semi finished project, a few tutorials & a brand new black Ahanix Landrover case that I purchased in '03 for modding and has been sitting in the box till about month ago.
Well recently I have got the modding bug again and started planning for a new project. I have the Landrover case with a system running also & I have even resumed one of my original projects from '03 (which is 80% complete).
So naturally I'm in need of a place to hang out and share my work. With all of the skill, the encouragement, maturity and just positive energy within these forums. I see no need to hang anywhere else!
In the time that Ive strayed from modding I really didnt even keep up with what was going on. I was totally pleased to find out so much going on and the quality of work increased so much. When I was into it before there were only a handful of people doing truly Radical Custom Mods and Bill Owen in my opinion was the Mac Daddy of them all. Another pleasant surprise was too see all of the cool merch that Bill has for sale at mnpctech.com. Really awesome stuff! I always new he would eventually have killer unique wares there! I also notice a lot of sold out, which is a good thing. But funny cuz its everything I want to purchase:P But yea ...congrats on all the success Bill! Thats killer!
I need to get pictures together but I would like to share with you's my progress of my resumed Jukebox project. And once I get my plans for my newest project more solid I would like to start a worklog for that. The worklogs should help me stay on course too.
Well thanks for listening to my long ass post
Cheers for now
Happy Modding!

Maybe this is a bit late, but hey everyone. I stumbled into this forum after hearing all these things about MNPC on another board. Can't repeat what I read, I have younglings in the room. Just kidding, it was all good stuff. I am new to modding, but have a bit of DIY and computer experience.
I work in a call center for tech support for a large DSL ISP. Was recently promoted toa supervisor and am actually making enough to buy a screwdriver or two. So I figured what better way then to squander my meager earnings on taking things that work perfectly fine and hackin it up?

I'm Dan, came to this site for ideas for my next case. I already have build plans as far as processors, mobo, video card etc. I want to get a thermaltake Armor series case. Thinking about either a Black Widow Theme or Vampire Theme... Still not sure yet though.

Hey, Dan.
Hello, everyone at Wizd. I've "Lurked" on the forum for a while and recently decided to sign up. Everybody here is Knowledgable about modding and have earnt respect from fellow modders, me included. I hope to learn more about modding and maybe finish my Rat Rod inspired case.

Thanks for the welcome, I was on DFI-street.com asking people for sites for cases then one person mentioned the mnpctech site so I checked it out and decided to mod a Tt Armor case. I'm gonna go with the Vampire Theme. first thing I want to do is add more air flow. The comp has 4 fans 2 120mm and 2 90mm. I want to add 2 more 120's on the side panel to blow on the video card and chipset. There's two flaps on the face of the case so I want to paint them cobalt blue to add some color to the case. on the other panel there's this cross/ankh from Vampire masquerade: Bloodlines game. I want to have it painted on the other panel in cobalt blue. Thats the plans for now, still working on more idea's though and welcome to more opinions and ideas. I will post pics of the ankh, case pics, and grill I will use for the fan. Also I haven't bought the case yet. I want to plan this out and get an idea of what it's gonna cost before I get into the project.

Hi guys, figured I'd drop in here and introduce myself.
My name is Darren and I am a 32 year old father of one, living in Southern Illinois in the US.
I am a truck driver delivering liquid asphalt to local asphalt plants. Nothing glorious, but it pays the bills.;-)
I have been messing with computers since around 1988, when I took a BASIC programming class in High School.
I really took notice of the Modding scene when I stumbled onto the Orac³ worklog. G-gnome's meticulous attention to detail had me riveted, waiting for each and every update. I stumbled onto this site a few days ago, and have seen several projects with very similar attention to detail. Looked like a good place to call home and draw inspiration from some of the craftsmen here.
*As an aside, I am currently in the very early stages of planning a home built case based on the U2-UFO.
In short, I'll mostly be lurking, adding my 2 cents whenever I can help.

Name's Cooper. I live in the Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. Not so fabulous really. The whole city isn't what you see in post cards. Well, some friends and I around the city are computer enthusiasts. I've recently gotten into modding. It's so fun. I build computers all the time. But I've never really made any of them custom and unique. Darren: You and I are on the opposite ends of IL.
Everyone else:
I happened on these forums when I was shopping www.mnpctech.com (http://www.mnpctech.com) for the 92mm blowhole kit. I did a short bit of lurking and decided to join so that I could learn more about modding.
About me:
I am an old "geezer" at 38 hailing from the South Side of Chicago. I currently work help desk for the Chicago Public School System.
Like Darren, my interest in computers started when I took a course in BASIC. After that, I worked a college computer lab that contained Macs and PCs. That experience allowed me to learn a wide variety of software packages such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Over time, I started getting into the hardware and networking side of things.
Currently, I am working on my A+ , Apple, Certified Ethical Hacker, Cisco and MCSE certs as well as a Bachelor's in Information Technology.
As for my build, I decided to play it conservative for this one because it's going to be my workhorse computer. Over time, I plan to do some builds with more serious mods.

Anyways, I am DickNervous. One of the people responsible for bringing you the GruntvillE (http://gruntville.com) website, writer, water cooling reviewer, WoW addict, New Yorker, and last but not least, fan of Megadeth.
I have done a few mods (check the link to my gallery in the sig) and am working on one that has been 2 years in the making, my tribute case to Megadeth. MNPCTech knows about this one as he is responsible for the painting of the panels and I am sure he will be pretty excited to actually see them on a case. Finally.
I have been mostly lurking but will be posting some more here, and will make sure I post some pics of the watercooling for Megadeth. Once I figure out what I'm gonna use....

hey guys, name=Jonny
I'm a bit of a CG Freak (check out my sig if you want more info) which is why i've decided to start building my own PCs. Off-the-shelf just don't cut it anymore in terms of processing power. (I have an intel P4 3.2GHz HT with 4GB of RAM and it struggles to keep up with me)
I stumbled across this place a little while ago while searching for info on watercooling and stuff. Building my new rig will be an awesome experience, but it's fairly daunting and i want to be really prepared. I want to know as much as possible about everything well in advance, so i can anticipate any problems i might have and sort them out eary. (There'd nothing worse than spending 1 and a half grand on PC hardware to find it exploded from a dodgy PSU or whatever.) If you want I can post some specs of the rig i'll be getting. i'd also like to say that its so nice to finally find an english set of forums about this kind of stuff, i didn't realise the english community was so large

Hi, all-
Have posted a time or two but mostly been lurking for a couple months. Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to WizD and the participants for some great forums.
As for myself, been into computers for quite a few years. I'm female and um... let's just say I won't advertise age, although I do have a daughter that's 20 this year.
Never liked the old beige boxes and I build my own computers for the last 10 years. Always had an artistic side, but unfortunately, don't have the bucks or the facilities to do some of the things I'd like.
Case mods, etc. are like artwork to me and it never ceases to amaze the ideas and workmanship people put into them. Thanks again for the eye candy and ideas. Will post info when I can and may get my pcs to a point I'd like to show them off (have 3 currently).
Keep up the great modding and see you around. ;)

I'm a student in sunny(!) Portsmouth, Hampshire.
I'm from Bath, Somerset originally.
I only recently got into PC modding as it is something that I have wanted to do since hacking massive holes in my cases for extra airflow!
I'm a fairly arty guy, I'm a web designer in my spare time. Let's see if that translates into the physical world!
I hope to learn lots of stuff and meet loads of equally interesting and extra super skilled people!

Hi, y'all!
I'm Blooz1, and even though I've been poking in and around this forum for a few months, I honestly don't think I've ever posted here before!
I guess a lot of folks consider me "old" - I've been into computers since the middle 80's - I don't consider myself "old" at all!
I'm into modding and overclocking. Living in an apartment sometimes limit the things I can do (painting is pretty much "out"), but I've got a halfway decent collection of tools. I do okay with power tools like jigsaws and Dremels.
Although I don't have any "formal" training per se in computers, I've sold them for a living and done well at it. I worked at Fry's Electronics in California (the ORIGINAL store in Sunnyvale!) from 1989-1993, both in retail and wholesale capacity.
What else? I'm sure something else will pop up, but we'll worry about it then!

No worries, having spent a few days around computers, and software I understand that not everything can be rosy 100% of the time. I also understand budget and lack thereof. It is all good.

Hello all.
I came across this forum thingy a while back and slowly got reeled into joining (i'm lazy - to much effort to type).
Anyhow - I'm Karl, modded (broke) my fist pc back in 1992, blew up a psu in a 2,000 pound (old money) pc in my FAS course, spent 2 days trying to get a 286 psu into a 386 case without getting caught by the lecturer. Bought my first pc in "93 (the only original part left is the floppy motor) and modding ever since.

Welcome Traeloch and other new members - its good to have you all. Many more people will be 'reeled into joining' as you put it by possibly making the Chop Shop members only.
But you will find (as others say) that you can hone your skills here for use in modding and computing in general so pull up a stool and have a beer.

Thanks for the welcome everybody.
I'll have a mod worklog starting very soon (in the next few days depending on work commitments).
It's bascially a scratch built test station, housed in a wooden case, because I haven't used wood yet. Time for something new.
Incorporating a few electronic mods I've been playing around with, i.e,IR proximity switches, servos, vandel proof code lock (if I can get the timing sorted) and a couple more ideas - dont want to spoil any surprises. Will post detals and pics very soon.
^^ Look forward to it Karl. That code lock sounds especially interesting.
Welcome all. :toast:

Aristotle here from the USA. I am completely new to modding, but am diving in headfirst. Although I've built my own machines in the past, my current project is only my second (and first real ambitious) mod. http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5356
My first ever modding project is below. Yes, it is cheesy as hell. I modded an old HP Pavilion desktop. The same innards are going into my new project.

10th July 2006, 02:17
Hey folks, I guess it was kind of rude of me to jump into posting a worklog without first introdcing myself. I am a traveler from a far distant... *SMACK!*(receives slap in head from girlfriend standing directly behind him) :D
Ahem...to continue... My forum name is KaBoom, which I took due to the after effcts of some previous projects (not all computers) that I've worked on...'nuf said. Outside of the forums I'm known as Peter so I'll go by either here. I'm new to modding in that i've never really cut up a case to change its appearance. Mainly just kept the insides tidy, added a window and a fan or two. The Aluminus case I have in the Chop Shop is the first time I've ever tried to really change the look of a case and I'm having fun with it.:dremel: :D
By day I'm an I/T Businsess Analyst and used to work in tech support for an insurance company, but now I mainly keep various software projects on track (project management), time-wise and financially. I've had the computer bug since the Commodore 64's came out. Since then I've run the gambit from the ol' 64 to a 386 DX (ooooooo, ahhhhh  ) and onward through the Pentiums and AMD's. On and off I tried what we used to call "ramping" now more popularily known as overclocking and have several scorched CPU's to prove it...(I never said I was any good at it!):D I'm glad to have found this forum, great stuff here and a lot to learn.
Anyhow, Read Ya' Later <waves>

Yeah, you know, once the do-it-yourself home depot-style shops started popping up here people have started getting into modding and other arts/crafts. Combined with some astonishing works published online for inspiration, stuff starts happening. :dremel: Also, given the strong currency we've been having lately, it's pretty reasonable to import tools and parts from both the EU and overseas.
