Hi there all, thanks for the very warm welcome here. I posted one question in the MSI K8N Master2 thread and before I knew it I have my own thread and a lot of reactions.
As you can see, I'm a newbie at building compus, I've opended them before, but putting it together from scratch is something new. So I hope I can rely on you guys/girls from some help every now and then.
Please check-out my own new thread http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2635&highlight=k8n+master
just a quick question. Where is this server hosted?? I have a 2 hour time difference with the server?

*Stumbles into the room*
I first found this place by clicking on a link in one of MNPCTECH's Sigys. More specificly his worklog on Motherboards.org. Found the Modders mesh and the log on the Mesh window mod and was inspired. Started looking around the forums and found some great info.
So far I have worked on some small mods Windows, Blow holes, HD windows, and Mouse windows, and had many ideas that require more money then I have on hand. But the current idea for a plexi box can be made cheaply enough.
I look forward to visiting these forums alot more often. :D

Hi there you all, greetings from France, I'm very happy to be a (small) part of WizD, I haven't been around for long, but I appreciate a lot the good spirit that lives here. No country, no nation but one passion, that is cool.
I don't mod much, but 'because' of you ;-) I HAD to buy myself a dremel, and some other tools, and I'm starting to mod my pc, hmm , my girlfriend's one as well, even if she isn't very happy about it :D... Each visit here is the occasion of discovering technics, ideas that I would've never thought of alone... Some of you are masters. I discovered modding with Defyant on BitTech, and started looking all around forums, and then fell on Dutch's BadAss, and... got mod-dependant!
Other than that, i'm 23 (since a few days), work in a big shop (Decathlon) in the workshop, and spend most of my time in front of my computer or on my bike, jumping downhill as often as I can...
There, I'm sort of introduced!
Before I go, a small question : how do you put pics on the net, I mean, pics of my PC for example?

Maybe I am writing this to late, but I am from Denmark, casemodding in Denmark is not a big "problem"(:-p), I got my first computer when i was about 5-6years old, I have had many computers in my 10-year old computer-life. When if discovered the "modding-world" was about 2-3 years ago, one of the first site I clearly remember was mnpctech.com (!). I was the first I knew that liked at clean-style case, like Lian Li, all I knew was ThearmalTake fanatics(:D), but now are they in a right direction, they want clean-style.
One of my other interests is motor, - cars, bikes and scooters. I just love the "kick" when you get the speed. The dream car is a Supra after '93. In Denmark there are very few Spuras, because of the car-taxes (180%).
Hope you understand my spelling.:-)

But I will and can't make speciel cases like some of You. I have my scholl and my job.

Well nothing really extraordinary, tidying all the mess of cables inside, changing the front of my pc. I have a pre-modded case : AeroCool AeroEngine, everything is already done but i always find things that could be changed, but... not much time, and not that much money, freeride bike and pieces is expensive enough :-(...

Hi, I'm Ed (TotalEclipse) and I'm a modaholic.
Over the last two or so years I've found myself lurking on various computer mod sites, religiously following worklogs and conversations. Until one day I foud Wizd and it just got worse. :(
I work at a company called The Eastwood Company which sells auto restoration and refinishing tools and supplies which I plan to use in my next mod. They also sell the Hotcoat powdercoating system which means I can powdercoat anything!
Anyway, I haven't done much modding yet but am ramping up for a project in the near future. I plan on asking a lot of questions so everyone be prepared :)

I don't even think I can call myself a noob as I don't actually have a PC (except this laptop). I'm just gathering knowledge and saving cash until I can by the kit I want. Main problem though is space for the PC and space to mod.

Welcome all.
Kinda weird how a totaly diferent group of people like the same things in diferent parts of the country and world. I was recently e-baying and what I was looking for is a decent vwbug to restore/hotrod. I was thinking about making it into a street machine with lots of grunt (about 300hp worth of grunt to be exact).
BTW bill you got any info on doing an engine swap on a original air cooled bug to something beefier than a boxter 4? I was thinking about a supercharged ecotech inline 4 motor.
PS: awsome restore on that rabbit. Is that the one you showed the video of when you took it out for the sumer?

j/k11,
A swap like that never interested me. Its VW/Porsche or nothing, but I can understand why youre asking, the aftermarket for vw performance parts is super expensive. My old roomate built up a 2.2 Dual Port Longblock with dual Webers for a 66 Beetle. He vested $6K in the engine work/parts alone, but that lil 2.2 could make your ass cheeks clench  It did the quarter mile in low 14s. If youre gonna spend that much money, buy a Porsche ..lol
I recommend you check out the Cal-Look Forum (http://www.cal-look.com/index2.html) These guys would be our equivelent in knowledge about Bug performance as WizD is about pc modding. Oh, and Gene Berg products would be equivelent in engineering & quality to Aqua Computer. The Berg family are lengendary Cali Tuners/Drag Racers. Gary Berg held the 1992 VW Super Street record at 10.39 ET.
and the video you saw was my 86 Jetta ;-)

Thanks dude. Definitly will look into them. Awsome jetta btw.:thumb:
And the whole thing about the ecotech conversion is that it will provide 300supercharged horses and still be street legal and very drivable providing its a good build and for less than 3grand to do it with a junkyard block. Well i suppose after leeching information in the Tips forum i should come here and at least introduce myself. i found this site while looking for modding information (imagine that) and it just seemed like a friendly place to be, so here i am. I am currently a student at UND (Grand Forks, North Dakota), first semester EE major. I am originally from Beulah, ND (western part of state) I am planning on doing my first computer mod this summer, will probably post it here while i work on it, for now i'm just trying to get a detailed idea of what i'm in for.
looking forward to getting to know everyone here

hey all, just recently found this place. starting to get into the modding scene.
im saving up for a wicked gaming machine so i can actually play some games other than ut2k4, quake 3, and warcraft 3.
my current rig is a single 1.8ghz powermac g5, 256mb (just about to purchase another gig), 80gb, dvd rw, geforce fx5200 64mb (good enough for me, gaming rig will handle the heavy stuff), etc etc ...
the rig im looking to build is here: http://24.62.175.197/gamingpc/
i might need to pick a bigger PSU and better ram. but im trying to keep it under $825.00. any recommendations? im looking to overclock just a bit as well.
anyways, hello all!

Hi Everyone,
I have posted a couple times here and there, but I thought I would make a proper introduction. I have been looking through all the major mod forums and finally found this one that I think is by far the best. :)
I plan in the next week or two to start a worklog on my mod of a Silverstone TJ03. This will be my 3rd attempt at a mod that I hopefully will like. I have to date destroyed a Silverstone TJ06 and Lian-Li V2100B. Maybe with some input from you guys on my worklog I will be happy with the results on this one. ;)
Later,

:thumb: I knew there was an intro thread somewheres in here but I didnt stumble on it last night. Anyhow, I'm a modding newb, although I've been wanting to try my hand for almost 2 years now. Basically I got tired of looking at my Cheiftec Dragon the way it is so I gutted it and started planning. The problem is, I change my mind constantly heh but anyhow, on to me. I'm 28 (just turned yesterday) I live in North Carolina in the states, although I'm from Ohio. Ive been building computers since I was 16, and I recieved formal training (after being an art major for 4 years) at a small tech college here in NC. I am currently studying for my A+ (alot of money to drop on a test that I could possibly fail ) Anyhow, I'm going to start a worklog today or tomorrow to show my (very little) progress I hope everyone enjoys.

I see Fillip already answered the question, but here is the exact one I will be modding.

The great thing about this case other than being the highest quality stock case I have ever seen, is that 95% of the parts in the case are screwed together. This really makes things easier for disassembly.

Looking to go entirely passive in the A64/ATI X850XT if I can. Been looking at stripping the HSF off the X850XT and leaving the heat sink in place but sinking the heat with a modified CPU water block instead of the supplied fan.
Need to find a block that's about 65-74mm by 45-52mm with no mounting lugs so I can strap it down using a bracket of my own fabrication.

I've been following some of the -amazing- work logs here the past few days/weeks during my micro-pauses behind the desk at work. And now, as I have a few minutes to spare before my ride gets here, I figured I might as well make myself known.
I'm from Sweden, as I'm sure you're all aware (if I managed to set the country flag in my profile correctly ..). I've been snooping around sites like bit-tech and arstechnica and the like for a while, as well as a few swedish modding/computer sites and forums. This place really appealed to me, however; I never bothered to register at bit-tech, for example. Could be the friendly attitude, collection of talented artists/modders, something else .. who knows.
I'm building up the courage, time and money to perhaps make a contribution to the modding scene myself, but that won't happen until earliest next year (which, of course, is not that far away any more ..). Until then, I'll keep a watchful eye on your worklogs etc.

Can't believe I haven't found my way here earlier...
Slightly silly Swede on a mission of getting my girlfriend's sons into the modding scene (at 11 and 13 they're just about the right age to start under proper guidance don't you think?)
Been in the computer/engineering buisness for ever and cut my first blowholes right after the term was concieved, shortly after the battle of Hastings. Member 101 at [H] (at least I think that's a bit funny) and also lurking at quite a few other forums (procooling, bit-tech, sweclockers...)
I've never been very chatty on the forums, and never felt the need to, or felt skilled enough to display my work, but I've been running dual watercooled pelts on a home-made triangular copper heatplate with good results, been doing watercooling that works, and experimental stuff that definately didn't work (sorry neighbours, sorry walls, sorry floor...)
After realizing that over 40 computers has passed through my hands during the past year, more or less rebuilt, all of them working much better than before, I've decided to calm down a bit and maybe, just maybe doing something real for once... ;)
At the moment using a totally naked old p3 1GHz laptop, an "exploded" chieftec chassi with an AMD64 3200+ at various speeds, a "hacked-to-bits" noname with 100% ducted airflow (2800+ originally). With a large pile of old cases and good-to-have bits in the storage room (..which my girlfriend hates with a passion) that will however probably change in a very short period of time. ;)
Oh.. I'd better add that I'm Swedish again, English is not my native tongue so I'd prefer questions to unnecessary flames if something isn't clear ;)

(Also, I'm pretty sure that I could handle it if it was to happen) ;) Baboon and Psykotik... I bet you're soon up for retirement considering you still use those old jokes ;)
Fillip, I'll take you up on that drinking part, but I was clearly born in the wrong country as the good stuff is made on that desolate lille speck of land just north of the hemp smokers... Tetley's "official Rugby" bitter was just fantastic, and Adnams just can't be bad anytime. I prefer the Islay stills but some highlanders know their stuff as well like the Macallan (at least the 18 y.o.)
Right now I'm pondering cracking open bottle 130 of 175 produced of Glen Craig 1975 (cask, Signatory Vintage bottling)
About the mods.. The same goes with them as with my drawings, I never get quite happy about them, and then get rid of them and destroy all the evidence ;) In another way, I've never bothered making any good looking mods, it's been all about function, and since I'm a design faschist I don't want anyone to see that I make ugly things... :eyebrow: I know.. it's not only silly but borderline nutters (or so the lady says) I do however hope to change that some day... some time... :inno:

Hi my name is Kristian Hargreaves and I am originally from the UK but since November 2005 I have been living in Vancouver with my wife. I am currently retraining myself so that I can get my CCNA qualification and then I will hopefully be able to get my foot in the door with an IT company. I have been a PC user for 7 years now and have only ever really made blowholes, windows and stealth drives in my modding time. I really like Shuttle barebones and currently have an SK83G with an 80mm top blowhole and no floppy drive so its getting alot of air. I really want to mod it alot more but its hard trying to work out where to buy stuff when you move to another country.

Hi, I'm littlejoe (Joe) I'm new to Wizd' :dremel: (re-registered) I'm moding a silver Tsunami case, started about a year ago, OK so now I got it, then you stare at it for a month or so, what to do, what to do, so you get on the net to the mod sites, lucky for me I came across mnpctech and Bill Owen, such a cool site, such a cool guy, bought a few things, Billet blow hole for the top of the Tsunami, as a bonus I got to Wizd' what a cool forum, "You meet the nicest people here" honestly, every time I log in I'm amazed, I'm on my third go round in the worklog of Dutchcedar's "BaDassumption" I'm still rubbing my eyes:thumb: That one is going to win like every contest it's entered into, what a great worklog, I'm learning more every time I look at the log. I'm still exploring :search: Oh by the way I'm from Orland Park, IL. I work in Technical Support, Hobbies; trucks, computers, woodworking. Hope to get around to posting a worklog of my effort at starting the modwork (still taking notes on photography) Happy to be here and looking forward to sharing ideas. Thanks

I kind of already introduced myself in my worklog thread, but I might as well do things "proper", I think...
John here, married 10 years, one child (2.5 y/o girl, "the wee one"). US Army, Infantry, 12 years active duty...
Quick explanation about my handle: I'm 33, but some days I get out of bed feeling old and decrepit... Kinda like an old man, thus, "Grandpa"... After 9 years or riding around in an armored vehicle at breakneck speeds, what else should I have expected?:duh:
I don't take myself too seriously, so I openly admit that there is much I don't know about computers and modding, compared to the little that I do know, thus, "Noob". 72 = 1972, the year I was brought kicking and screaming into this world. There, any other questions about that? No? Good...
I got interested in computers, gosh, so long ago... My father got me an old Timex Sinclair as my first computer... The 16K add-on module was the biggest thing that little old box of transistors had going for it. Cassette tape programs, printer paper about the size of a cash register receipt, that was LIVING!
Over the years, I've gotten to play with Apples and PCs, and I just really liked the versatility of PCs... Bought my first one back when AMD and Intel were basically producing the same socket... It was a K5-2 133MHz...:o
Since then, I've been trying to play keep-up with the speed increases, bought myself a pair of Dells (which are blessedly GONE now  ), and finally got into building my own machines a couple years ago. That's about the same time I got interested in modding. The local comp shop keeper had a box that he'd worked on as a display model... Split-loom sleeving of the PSU cables, electrical tape-wrapped IDE cables, etc... I was hooked.
I've had one project that for whatever reasons just didn't get finished, although I'm mighty proud of the work I put into it, and a semi-mod that I did for my wife's machine (I also built that one for her). Right now, I'm working on a project to create a machine (or at least the shell for one) that I can be happy with and proud of for at least a couple years, before I get the modding itch all over again.
Bill (mnpctech) inadvertently brought me here, since his shop page links potential buyers here. One of his projects is the inspiration/starting point for my current project, and I hope I can do it justice...
That's about it for me for now... Anyone else?

Hello all.
I guess it is time to introduce myself. I have been following various mods in this group for a while and have been both impressed and inspired. I was introduced to modding within the last year and have developed quite a passion for it. I am the proud owner of the worlds only modded emachine, or at least the only one I have ever heard of or can find reference to. Sorry I do not have any pictures to back up my claim. I do not own a digital camera.
Perhaps I will start posting, everyone likes an encouraging word.

I've been breaking stuff for a few years now. I tend to work with wood more than metal, but I'm learning :)
Like a few others I made my way here through Bill's site. I ordered some mesh a couple of years ago from him and keep going back staring at his painting tutorial wondering if I'll ever get that much patience.
My projects tend to stall nowadays with my little girl wanting to get into everything. I'm starting her out young so she can build me awesome cases when I'm old. http://www.nerdwarz.com/images/lynx/old.gif
