Hi, my name is Jerome, I’m 19 and live in a suburb of Chicago, IL. I came to this after flowing a link from mnpctech.com. I started modding after I finished my first home build computer. I also love classic/muscle cars but not having the type of money for that I want to improve my painting/electrical/modding and make a computer I can be proud of.

Howdy fellow Modders!

I'm an Aussie and am 20 years old. I work in a System Admin job for financial orientated software company which is incredibly fun!

I am just starting off with the modding scene and have got myself a dremel, angle grinder, drill and all the other little bits to help me destroy some steel products and electronic equipment.

I also have my first project underway and it is a big one indeed! The following pictures shows what I have up my sleeve to work with.

http://img20.exs.cx/img20/8774/dsc018252or.jpg

I plan to take off the panel facing towards you and put a top hinge swing door which will reveal the powerboard and HUB. I will post full plan specs in the appropriate section.

Hope to be around alot more in the future and meet you all.

Well I'm new here, so I might as well post. I live in san jose california (winter, what wnter?B)). I have never done a true mod, but I have done several small mods to my PC. My current project is to transplant the guts of my current PC to a modded chieftec dragon case (already underway) and water cool it.

Specs on my PC:
Pentium 4 2.8C ghz, socket 478, "Northwood"
ASUS P4P800 motherboard
1gb generic DDR400 RAM 512mb x2 (unmatched http://www.casemodgod.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_sad.gif )
Western Digital Caviar 120gb SATA HDD
Plextor Dual Layer DVD burner (the really nice one)
PNY GeForce6800GT 256mb
Antec True550 PSU
Creative Labs Audigy 2ZS soundcard
Mods are only really wire management and a few lights.

Will post pics of the progress on the new case when I get a chance.

But for now I'll say that it will use a dual 120mm chevette heatercore mounted in the front of the case much like Pug's awesome work.

Awesome site you guys have going here.

Hi folks, token expat Brit checking in. Hmm lemme see here, 34, married, one kid, DJ, Wisconsin...blah blah blah... Done some pretty basic mods in the past. Usual stuff, windows, blowholes, lights and things of that sort but now I'm planning a mod that I hope will blow your mind right through the bottom of your rubber underpants! (Yeah right - look at the company I'm in) at least I think I have a concept that nobody has ever done before. Oh and in the unlikely event that anyone recognizes the name, many moons ago I used to be a senior review and article editor at the now defunct OCAddiction (now DevHardware).

Hello everyone,

I'm James, a graduating Senior from highschool in Northern Virginia. I've been in love with computer since about the time I was born which precipiated mostly from my dad's job, a computer contractor of sorts. I've been accepted at some technical schools for college and I hope to attend either Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech. I've been lurking here for awhile, but I've finally decided to post an introduction. I really look forward to finding the time to do a real thorough job modding my computer and I wanted to thanks to everyone for all the great ideas. Thanks guy. I was whitewater rafting in Idaho and the guy we were staying and rafting with (he's a nut, was a smokejumper for a good part of his life, now he does computers, go figure), well anyways he has a '82 European 911 SC. Any how I drove him to go get a pizza for everyone and it took us an hour and a half because he had to teach me to drive a Porsche, which I learned is far different than any other car, I was passing people at 120 in 3rd gear! Bottom line is I'll never forget it and I want one of my own.

Interestingly enough this wasn't my first experience with a Porsche. My Uncle (surgeon) leases a 2004 Carrera Cabriolet. I drove it around my neighborhood. Once.

/end Porsche rant

/end Porsche rantMy dad was a surgeon, he wanted a Porsche. Well, his legs were too long. So no Porsche. Then he wanted an Aston Martin DB7... Was too much to have it made backwards/US compatible... So, no more DB7... So... He settled on a Land Rover, a Range Rover and a Lexus.

What does this have to do with anything? I once took the Lexus for a spin around the block and down a few streets.

Hi guys ! :)

Just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm based in the UK and been a computyer games programmer now for 20 years. Currently in Stage 1 of building my new rig - a dual Opteron 250 motherboard, with 2 6800 Ultra vide cards, etc etc. Stage 1 involves getting the system up and running, bedded in and stable before approaching Stage 2, watercooling it all. The motherboard does allow significant levels of OC'ing, and the Ultra's will also be OC'd and running in SLI mode. Primary aim is minimal noise levels, followed by stability and then cooling performance. I'll be using a mCubed TBalancer controller to manage pumps, fans etc. Case will either be a Lian Li V2100B or a Cooler Master Stacker.

Greetings most exalted ones...

Just a quick note to ya all as I'm Top Nurse aka (Janice). I live here in Southern California and am considered to be a wicked modifier of all things electronic. I am a registered nurse and I typically hang out in ER's and ICU's when I'm not playing with my computers or my amateur radio gear. First electronic item was a Heathkit shortwave radio many moons ago. Now I just build exotic computers for myself and friends. For those who want a normal computer I say DELL.com ;)

Welcome to Wizd Janice.

Thats an interesting combination. Nurse / electronic enthusiast. Do they ask you to fix the xray machine when it breaks down? Actually I find that ICU nurses tend to be extremely computer and electronic orientated. I think with all the fancy technology we use computers seem pretty blase at times. ^_^ Actually when computers break down I usually tell them what the problem is, but they usually ignore me being a "nurse." I just laugh and laugh harder when they tell me I was right.

Unfortunatly not. Nursing is a proffesion which welcomes with wide arms, very wide arms infact, the ugly and the obese. There are some honeys among them but the ratio of lookers to munters is very small. Okay, it's going to be a Tribute to Cliff Burton.

Side panel: It'll be something like this. Excuse the detail of trimming off shit, It was done in paint. :Phttp://img62.echo.cx/img62/9075/clifemall020hm.jpg

The "Metallica" will be cut out on a seperate piece of metal, then glued on. Around it, will be cuts made with the dremel, to allow light in.
"Cliff 'Em All" will be completely cut out.
A window etching of Cliff Burton smiling, really happy. :)
Custom fan grills. I'm thinking Master Of Puppets cross. With the dog tag or helmet on it.
For a top window, I'm going to cut that in the shape of a rickenbacker. Great bass with a very unique shape. One Clff played (duh!).
On the other side panel, either
1) A large window of his tattoo on right arm,
2) A professional airbrushing of him playing on bass.
For a fan controller, I want to get a dead bass pickup (depending what type I get will decide whether it goes into a 3.5" or 5.25") and take the poles out, and in their places, put fan controller knobbies
Paint the inside black. Fans and cathodes will be red.

I want to somehow implement a set of bass strings, but I'm not sure how. Suggestions?

That's all I've got for now. Hope you like 'em. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

EDIT: The red border may or not be there. It's just cut like that right now cause the Metallica and it are very close in colour and when I print it out, I want it easy to see. :p (Will be a black and white printout)

Hi Nuzzles and welcome to WizD.

It certainly sounds as though you've got your case planned out, and I think we're all looking forward to seeing it take shape.

As for including bass strings, it might depend upon which case you're gonna mod as to where they could go, but at the risk of sounding stoopid can't you string them across the top of your case above the rickenbacker cutout?

Nuzzles
18th April 2005, 14:32
lol I was thinking about that. but I thought it might look a little cheesy. I'm not sure, I might end up doing it. Waste of precious bass string though, have to go cutty cutty on it. :( I should really make them have tension, so if I take the top off, I can play it somewaht XD

I don't know what case I'm getting. :( Looking out for an old cheap one.

fillip
18th April 2005, 15:05
yea, fillip brings up a good point... Its happened to another member here, Vis. It's also a personal issue considering I'm seeing ideas being used atm that i've wanted to put to use for ages but havent been in the financial/or otherwise position to do so. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/frown.gif

It hurts, esp. when you know it was an original idea when you had it, but c'est la vie

The "Metallica" will be cut out on a seperate piece of metal, then glued on. Around it, will be cuts made with the dremel, to allow light in. Take a look at Mnpctech's Harley Davidson tribute, he uses a similiar effect, though not precisely the same.

As for the theme, i've not seen a Metallica tribute yet but the idea of band tributes is nothing new. Now who was that modder that did an amazing Pink Floyd tribute case... http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/unsure.gif

Sniffing anaesthetics, it could catch on...

Howdy, I've been lurking in the forums since the begining of the year and decided to sign up about 2 weeks ago. I guess its time to introduce myself...

I am 23, graduating with my bachelors in business administration in May and getting married this June. I have been building computers for about 4 years and modding for 2. Besides building computers, I cycle (road), climb (gym and outdoor) and game (dod and hl2). I also dabble in digital art a bit, feel free to check out my deviant art page (http://wreckless-agony.deviantart.com/). Or a couple of my sigs:

http://www.stud-squad.com/Sigs/nuge.jpg

http://www.stud-squad.com/Sigs/wreckless28.jpg

I have never really taken a big bite out modding for fear of getting in over my head. I am however, currently planning a HTPC that should get pretty mod heavy (for me at least) and I hope to have a log going here within a few weeks. In the mean time here is a picture of my old project that is still half finshed and half a$$ed :(:

Wreck-Tangle 1.0 (http://stud-squad.com/Sigs/alumnew02.jpg)

I found this site through: Bit-Tech --> Pug's HexaDragon Project --> Modders Mesh --> MNPCTech --> Wizd Forums

Thanks! I was reading through one of the other threads and saw one of your posts that said Metalcast drips. Yes it does. A lot! Then, you said it chips when you pull out screws, for example. Well, I had to move a hard drive in this build and sure enough, it chipped.

So, I was remembering the disasters I had with my little project and then I saw your comments. I figure the dripping alone cost me about 10 hours of sanding, re-priming, more sanding, repainting, etc. Well, you know.

AGREED!!!

Also, I got a dremel! ^_^ Just been practising a little bit, and what I can't believe is all the moaning about cutting disks breaking so often... I haven't had one break. <_<
Well, when I get a case to work with, I've had a hard time finding a good one, I'll get my worklog up and running. :)

Well, since the things he missed were about Soccer Football, I'd say he was referring to that, not US Football.

Lets be clear. Soccer = proper football and the name was hijacked for some strange American variant where you hardly ever use your feet to play, go fiigure http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/huh.gif. So yeah, when we were taslking about football we were talking about real football. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hey. Im new here.. not much of a modder, but i like seeing what others can do.
Pretty good with hardware, and hidding cables, but, i have very little artistic abilities, so, i tend to have dull looking, unmodified cases.. (no.. i cant even apply appliques correctly..) Anyway, Great forum you guys have going here, and there are some Incredible cases out there right now.
