View Full Version : Water Valve Idea...

I'm browsing Innovatek produtcs, and I just got this screwy idea, but will it work?

I'm thinking of buying six parts. The main part is a 2 way mini ball valve. The next is a T fitting, and I'm pretty sure the valve screws into the fitting. Next I just need an adaptor to use Innovatek hose with my Aquastream/Eheim 1046 and a basic compression fitting for the NexXxos block, plus some Innovatek tubing. The plan is to attach the T line after the pump and before the GPU block, that way if I want to drain the system, I can just the valve instead of needing to get a big bowl and unplugging a Plug & Cool inside the bowl.

Will that work? It seems like it would, but I've been awake for 27 hours now and if we rank sleep deprivation with another harmful behaviour, I'd be drunk. I've seen an Aqua Computer T Line on water cooled compy on one of the above forums, but what size was it? Do they make them with 1/4" thread sizes? That way the valve would screw onto the fittings and I could avoid the rest of the parts.

Good night/morning

Should work. Put the T in the lowest part of the circuit, and you won't need to activate the pump (as running it dry is bad). I think Aqua-Computer sells the appropriate valves.

Did you see what I did with a tube repair thingy on goliath?

I skimmed through it, so I suppose it warrants a stare now. ^_^

I want this: http://www.aquacomputer.de/prodimg/nd_products/pnc_t_kun_500.jpg

What I'll do is connect the hose from the radiator to one end of the T. From the reservoir, I'll plug the hose in as well. Now that it is in-between both, I'll plug another line into the middle of the T and place the cap on the end of that. It will be the lowest point and will now make draining simple and easy. Well, I still need to buy them and have just sent Our Man Pug an email. :)

For the drain line in my setup I used metal Norgren fittings which allow the fitting to rotate on the connection point. thus the line (with inline value) can rotate round to drain:

Actually the drain line is now on the rad-out so the t-pice is vertical unless I need to use it. If I'd though this out a tidier approach would have used a 1/4 x 10mm T-pice and treaded it directly into the valve.

Risky - I've not seen a pushfit yet that didn't allow rotation (one of their strengths as far as I'm concerned). Nice to see the rotating barbs on the PolarFlo block following that approach too fwiw.

Puggy - if you can hang fire for a coupla weeks, I'll be releasing something along the lines of what you're thinking of (but much more compact than Risky's approach).
What was your second pic of btw? (aah, n/m, I just checked the pic properties)

I'll wait. I'm good at that. ^_^

That's half the art of modding, waiting for ideas or crap to arrive.
