It was fairly lacklustre... but here it is
(god awful tiny wmv file... tbh it doesn't deserve a lot more but I will do a better one if anyone would like the file for archiving)

As I said on Bit-Tech: be reasonable people. They only had five minutes to cover the whole World of Modding. Even if they had spent an hour there would be some people who would still moan that some obscure aspect had not been covered sufficiently... <_<
I thought it was OK as a brief intro to the phenomenon. It showed a few nice examples from the whole range (tarted up PC case to outlandish bug, plus some pre-mods). My only criticism is that there was no mention of websites for interested parties to learn more. that would have cost little airtime and would have been very useful. Still, any computergeek worth his weight knows how to wield Google to good effect.

Hey I liked it. I'm fairly glad there were no interviews tbh; not to insult the modders in question but I think interviews about any mod projects would probably be reasonably painful television (think back to the Modfest PAs, those who were there, and times by 10 hehe).
Shame it was Aleks and not the lovelicious Emily Newton-Dunn

I thought I was being reasonable.
My parents, who know sod all about computers said that they learnt nothing from the featurette, but they're interested in knowing more about case modding... If it wasn't for me knowing a bit about case modding and being able to provide them with reading/resources to learn more, they'd not be able to learn more about it.
The actual featurette was fine, but they were so vague in the allowed time that they should have left it with a "find out more about modding on mashie.org, gordyhand.co.uk & bit-tech.net; also CustomPC is available from your local news agents" etc, etc. Mashie and Gordy were both there, as was Macroman... seeing as they were picked out for the segment, it would have made sense to offer more information via the three respective sites. All it required was a flash screen, not a lot to ask really
I don't live with my parents, so they've not really been educated on what case modding actually is. Now, where does joe public go and find out more if they don't have a clue how to work an internet search engine?
I just think they left it far too open ended for it to be of use to anyone who did want to know more about case modding.

To be frank, why the fudge would your parents want to know about case modding? They're not interested really, they just wonder what that peculiar hobby you seem to partake in is all about and whether or not it involves you taking drugs and/or worshipping satan.

I thought it summed up modding very nicely. Shame they didn't mention Modders who created the examples or suggest sites.

maybe you should look at it from the wider picture?
I was merely using my parents as an example - they're looking at installing a HTPC in their living room...

Yes, that's what I'm getting at ^_^

But they're not planning on cutting windows in it, replacing the front panel with CF or installing a touch panel fan controller.
Buying an HTPC case is not modding. Tbh getting a case with a window, some LED fans a cathode and a fanbus isn't really modding anymore since you just pull them off the shelf and plug them in.
I agree with nexxo that it was a decent "and finally..." kinda program segment, the funny odd report they pull out as something different. If anyone is even vaguely interested it's only going to take 10 seconds with google to find out anything more, and those people vaguely interested are going to be computer/technical minded people who will find it easy to get that information.

you're making a big assumption there...

They seem pretty reasonable assumptions to me...

Isn't that exactly what I said? :p

Hi All
I was both dissapointed and happy that they didn't keep our interviews. Personally it would have be painful for me to watch myself, but it would have been nice to see myself on tv (well more than my crotch that was in the background hehe :D )
They were supposed to put links to our sites on the gadgetshow site but they are still not up 2days later. That I find is very dissapointing considering the segement wouldnt have been there if it wasn't for the three of us spending a long day in birmingham.
Hey ho
PS First post hewo! I joined on the weekend :D

Hey Gordy good to see you around the forums :)
I thought it was pretty good, although giving some credit to the creators of these machines would of been nice. For the viewer at home, not knowing anything about modding, would be clueless on where to search for this stuff.
Screw that...we should just make our own show...The Wizd super duper hyper mega modding hour....SB can be the EE guy, Pug can be h2o lord, nexxo the techno-philosopher, Bill the mad hacker and painter, and I can be the comic relief.. whos with me? :D

Cool cap mrplow. I'd missed seeing it for real. B)
Nice to see footage of both mashie's wings opening and Gordy's LED array - sort of thing that pics don't bring across to the full.
Speaking of Gordy... Helloooo matey.
