Which product do you use for your car or bike? The people i know who have worked in the auto trade all swear by Auto-Glym but the Type-R owners club rave about Meguiars (sp). :huh:

I used Meguiars Gold Class Wax (havent used Auto-Glym) for the first time this weekend and it was just amazing! It was sooo much easier to put on and take off then the stuff i got with my car and left it looking like a mirror. B) Infact it looks so good the old guy at the petrol station came out to look at it when i was filling up this morning. :lol:

Since its a VW, my mom got me some stuff that the german autoclubs recommend for their owners when she was over there this past january. I actually haven't tried it out yet. I have the horrible VW red that loves to oxidize, and the for the cars first few years of its life, it was not waxed regularly ( or at all!). So that leaves a good portion of the body witha lot of oxidation.

I can't even remember what the stuff is called, its at home, and im at the GFs on the toilet at the momet (LOL :blink:)

Never heard of Zymol. I assumed from reading the meguiars stuff that they are #1 in America. :huh:

Zymol = made in germany

Meguiars is ok. More ingenious marketing than anything else. Kinda like Dremel

mnpctech, this stuff was 2 bottles shrink wrapped together: 1 gray and 1 red... the more i think about it the more i think it probably is zymol.

To the best of my knowledge Zymol are now owned by turtle wax..

Auto Glym make some great products but they also make some cheap crap. Their polish it very good but their interior trim cleaner is the best I have ever seen.

A company called Concept also do a great range of polishes sold mainly to the trade. Its mainly sold in gallons but also available in Ltrs. For cars like Stars red VW I recomend their trade perfect polish. A good polish with a slight cut. Can be used on a semi regular basis and will remove mild oxidation and build up of old polish.

All these companies do 10 to 15 different types of polish for different appications with different ranges of cut, ease of use and protection provided. Carnuba contect does not guarantee a good polish. Some types of paint need a cutting agent to stay at their best some dont. New cars need less cut, older cars need more. Find a good valeter or suplier to valeters and get their advice. Any valeter worth his salt will have at least 3 or 4 different polishes that he uses. He might even give you a sample of each to try or at least recomend one for your application.

Meguiars all the way for me I used thier Scratch X it's great for getting swirl marks out of the paintwork (i've got a 99' Focus that was fairly unloved by it's previous owner:unsure: )
Waxed it with their cleaner wax and it looks bloody fantastic - so good one of my friends thought i'd traded it in for a new one!!:p

I know Zymol is good stuff but i just can't afford to spend that much sadly:rolleyes:

The stuff I have is 'Klasse' one is a cleaner, the other is a sealant. Claims to be imported from Germany.
