bubbly water...

Ok, as the title says, my water is all bubly, as if it has washing up liquid in..

I fitted the clear tube so to be honest i dunno if it was allready like that...

1) Are bubbles common, they havent dissapeared for a long time
2) Could it be washing up liquid from when i emptyed the water into a measuring jug (The jug might have it in there after being washed up)

3) Will it hurt my comp if theres some bubbles in there?

Thanks

Guys, im about to stick two HSF's on my computer because im so sick to death of the ammount of troubles watercooling is being with me

Ive sat for ages replacing all the tubing etc, i am still getting temps of around 55 degrees, which is too darn hot for my liking, my bios & temp sensors are within 1 degree acurate aswell, so i know those are the right temps.

Problem 1.

The water has bubbles in it or something, some foreign water has gotten in their too i think and messed the lot up, i dunno how it works and what will kill the components, but im living on the assumption tap waters got in their and that my components arent going to last all that long.

Problem 2.

My tempratures are way to high, i dont know if its related to the water in any way or not, help appreciated, i am running currently..

-> Pump -> Res -> Block1 -> Block2 -> Pump ......

Problem 3.

I think i need a bigger psu, mine just dosent seem to have enough Juice!
I am running a 550watt qtec psu, and ive been told they fib about their wattages so i beleive i need something bigger as these LED things keep flickering :(

Thanks, Please help guys like i said im in a state of wether to just stick two bog standard HSF's on their and forget the entire watercooling job, i just sick of it :(

your temp troubles are probably due to the bubbles. don't ask me to elaborate physics of it, but as you can imagine air is a much worse temperature transfer agent.

I'd advise you find a way to blow massive amounts of tap water through your loop, and then do a final flush after 4 to 5 hours of tap water (not running in a loop, just running it in and then down the drain) with 8 gallons or so of distilled.

As for your PSU troubles, forton "aurora" units are very good bang for the buck. A 350W or 400W version of that will put out at least 400 and 450 respectively, they're quite underated

Hi

Problems i have

Distilled water cost me £1 a litre here so to pump 8 gallons through would cost about £36 :(

I am currently running a '550' watt qtec psu and it hasnt got enough power, i think they are slightly under rated to be honest, but i do need a big psu, mine hasnt got enough power atall, the amps on the channels aint big enough...

Sorry to hear about your water cooling troubles.

As for PSU's i would ditch the Q-tec as quick as possible. They are CRAP! People will try and tell you other wise or say they are good value for money but they arent. We use them at work, (because the univeristies a tight ass) and they are always failing.

8 gallons of dstilled for 36quid? that's ludicrous! That much distilled costs me about $10 (less than 5 quid!)

For distilled water, I just went down to the chemist (no petrol stations around my area in Manchester) and they gave me a 5L bottle of the stuff for a couple of quid.

I've since moved in Manchester so there are stations near to me, so I'll buy from those in future if needed, but I'd imagine they would be the same/cheaper. Where on earth are you getting it from if it's that expensive?!

Ok recomendations for the new psu, i will need some sleeving etc and have £45, so about £40 for a psu.

It needs to be able to power:

Dual amd mp 2400+ Mobo and Cpus
2 x 120gb 7200 rpm hdds
4 x smart fans
2 x cd-roms
Watercooling Kit (pump & 3 fans)
Matrox Parhelia
6 cold cathodes
1 x Thermaltake EL strip
4 x 512mb ddr
56k Modem
Usb Pci card

I was looking at some superflower 520watt psus on ebuyer, a little over budget but they look smart and got some nice power ratings.. I could also sell mine for £15 maybe?

As for the water thing, i'll see if i can get some liquid stuff.

I also want a new fan controller, mines just about had it! - Any recomendations ?

Thanks

I would save up for a better PSU, you get what you pay for.

for your setup a "good" 350W psu will be enough. cheap psus maybe provide 500W at maximum but they won't provide 500W stable.

Well i am looking into getting a 520w super flower psu for around £50.

I compared the +12V with a 500w psu a friend of mine bought, he said his was 18A, this one is 30A so its got some good power.

Do you think this would meet my requirments? is that a fair price, i could maybe just say stretch that far, im £2 too short on my debit card though :(

I will need to mod it straight away, which will probably cost another £15 - £20 for good modding.. I think i'll look for some local work :)

Distilled water can be got at a chemist very cheaply.

As for the bubbles.. are you sure its not air ?? Also you dont show a radiatior in your loop (but I assume you have one). Where is the rad in the loop ???

Double and trebble check that all the connections are tight. Push every pipe home hard to make sure it is all the way in. While you are at the chemist pick up some isproponol and run it through you loop. You can run it neat or mix it with the distilled water. This will kill any bugs in the system.

What kind of pump as you running ???

Its a koolance 1/4 ID kit

Pump/Res (Its combined) -> Rad -> Block 1 -> Block 2 -> Pump

I'll see what i can do in the way of pictures, ive got £40 and i thinks im gonna see if i can get myself a camera, sick of mine being broken

Thanks

(Ps where u get ur water from i got mine from a garage for a £1 a litre)

Ok i got myself 5 litres of distilled water for £3.

What should i do? i have got some anti freeze left so for filling it back up thats sorted, but for now should i take the entire loop apart and flush all the parts?

Cheers..

you dont have any plastic lids or acrtylic parts in your loop do you? isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) will weaken or crack the plastic.

The Koolance ressy (inside the main unit) looks to be made of plastic/acrylic. I was just peaking at a [H]ard OCP review on it and noticed that.

Acrylic weakens, other platics are ok with it.
