You did it! Thanks, curious, what makes it not work?

Did you upload it from the web or your PC?

I saved it to my PC and uploaded it from there :magic:

I think I did both from my PC, weird nonetheless

It might have been due to a user-group based filesize/dimensions restriction (which Russ isn't affected by).

walkitiki

Oh alright, if it is too large or restricting Pug, I'd have no problem taking it down.

Heh, don't worry James - I won't deny you for the sake of a few pixels (but we're just gonna have a quick show of hands in the backroom as to how we feel about animated avs in general, just for future reference). :thumb:

i think if there not too big theyll be ok,you could do a max frames rule to keep the filesize down

No need. I can define the filesize down to a byte, if need be.
We have had bandwidth issues lately (we're currently pushing more than our hosts and keep exceeding our monthly quota :worried:), so we have to consider the precedents we set quite carefully at the moment, amongst other things.

James - general consensus of opinion is that, seeing as it's you, you can keep it (but the majority of us thought your old (walking) one suited you better ;-)).

Sorry if it's been a wind-up. :o)

 Ay, the thing was I wanted something unique, I hadn't made that one. This one took awhile, but I understand. Never played with animated .gifs before, its quite difficult

You made that?
Well then my respect for it has gone up a notch.

It looks of a simlar style to ones I've seen floating about for years, so I'll freely admit I immediately assumed it'd originated from an anime site or something. :o)

Its from a NEOGEO game. I ran the emulator on my computer and snapped screenshots, then went through and deleted all the background and trimmed the image. Then compiled it into a .gif

On the subject of bandwidth - if we attach files do they go to the WizD server? - If they do then that is a little wastefull - I for one use an image hosting site to host mine, rather than attaching.

If attaching and maybe even avatar pictures were remotly hosted, surely the bandwidth requirement would decrease by a huge measure?

Yep. Attached images eat up forum B/W. That's part of the reason why we've debated allowing animated Av's.

Avatar pictures currently take up a little more than ~0.5MB, as we've kept on top of things so far and restricted them to our responsible users, whilst maintaining restrictions on size.

The problem we actually had was that a recent vBulletin upgrade had switched on a server-side setting which forced all users to reload images from every page with each visit, instead of using their browser cache.
This obviously had a profound impact on our bandwidth, even from forum graphics alone.

With the next planned upgrade, sigs will also be hosted on the server (enabling us to moderate them more easily), so you can be sure I'll have my eye on this setting next time. ;-)

Test one two. Is 8k enough for this?

On another note may I ask why my pic seems to be so small?

EDIT: added pic

EDIT2: Streched the pic a bit. Seems fine now
