This project Has Been Changed It is now Code Named "Redshift"

I have bought a cheiftec case basically becuase i didnt want to ruin my lian li case.

Here we go then we have some minor updates.

This morning i recived my very sexy red aqua tube i was awoken to to the knocking of the postman. He gave me this package.

Click For Biggies ^_^

Upon opening the package i found inside

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/at_box.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/at_box_big.jpg)

AND

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/bay_nount.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/bay_nount_big.jpg)

I have then unpackaged the aquatube

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/at_unpack.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/at_unpack_big.jpg)

Upon contruction of the aquatube and baymount i was finally presented with this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/at_in_mount.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/Richman/at_in_mount_big.jpg)

I have a question tho, when i was screwing the aqua tube to the bay mount i got the screws as tight as possbile but the res seems to wobble a bit in the mount. Also in the box with the aqua tube there was a little rubber ring, iam not sure if this goes under the plexi glass window or what could someone fill me in please.

richman, you should take a Dremel and cut those factory grill perforations. Its real easy. You only need to cut-out the 4 tabs. Increase yr airflow and lower noise

^^^^ What he said. :)

Practise on a bit of scrap metal first to get the hang of things if need be, then see how much of a temp drop that simple mod can get you.

I remember the first time I did that on an old rig of mine and tidied my wiring for better airflow, I dropped my case temps (and subsequently CPU temps) by about 10°C!

Good luck with it and keep the progress shots coming. B)

And if you've got a little more courage (and an 80mil holesaw) you can fit another 80mm fan mount in there. It's tight but it fits!

It does make getting at the first thumbscrew a bit tricky however so it's not the perfect mod.

Nuke the grills. Practice on scrap - if you still don't like the dremel, get a jeweler's hacksaw. It should go thru aluminum like butter.

Mod on!

Hiya all, thanks for the advice and support.

Dont you worry them grills are going and as soon as they do u will be the first to know about it :D

@mnpctech i was thinking once i remove the standard grills i was gonna replace them with these (http://www.mnpctech.com/HCGrills.html) also i was after some of these (http://www.mnpctech.com/Grommet.html) just wounderinf if you could tell me how much shipping to the sunny uk would be on these babys. I would need about 3 of the grills and 20 grommets.

Cheers

cheers mnpctech i will wait till you have them back in stock and bulk order.

Does anyone have a template for the the APE120 radiator as i dont know where iam supposed to cun and where iam not. If there was a paper template i could print then i could find out how much clearance iam going to have for my cd-rom/cd-rw and PSU.

I was thinking about what starbuck said about using a jewlers knife/saw to cut through the alu well if i marked out the hole for the rad and drilled a hole in each corner i could do that with a jewlers saw couldnt i and it would be more acturate.

A jigsaw is a probably a better bet. ;) Just put something with a straight edge along where you want to cut so the blade has a guide and you'll be fine!

I suggest you undo the screws for the mount and do it again. Sounds like you didn't do it evenly (going round and doing a few turns at a time)

The rubber ring is an O ring. It goes in the groove under where the plexi lid goes.
