Good question; doubt it's easily possible.
What about p 2 pin' the dvd version and using your code on it?

can you not burn images of each one, and then make a multisession dvd?

Don't think it can be done tbh.

When you install a multi-disk game and you're prompted for the next CD in line, the drive will start to read the disk from a set point. If you put all 5 disks on a DVD then you have 5 'starting points' on the same DVD but no way fo telling the DVD drive where to start reading disk2, disk3, disk4 etc.

However, don't ;isten to me as I still can't get my NEC DVDRW to burn to DL media, and I've tried everything reccommended by NEC themselves - I'm angry

Its possible to do but then still being able to install it off the 1 DVD might be a problem. What game is it? HL2 come in either 5 CD or 1 DVD so maybe a search on google could find the difference or whether the 5 CDs are just put straight on the DVD. The installer might only ask for the next CD when its looking for a file it can't find or it might be preset what files to copy and then ask for the next CD. Is there that much to lose for <£1 of dvd?

I've done something like it recently. I made 1:1 backups as images and then dropped them onto the DVD. Using a CDrom emulator I can then load the images on to a virtual drive when prompted.

Suggested tools to use.

CloneCD, or Alchohol 120% for imaging (also have virtual drive caps)

Deamon Tools with autoloader (Virtual drive)
