Now im confused
Use ketchup and a toothbrush to clean off the deposits.
But seeing as you can't open the blocks up to get open-air access to the actual channels that's not an option.

You could try squirting ketchup into the block, leave it a bit and then wash it all out with some distilled water.

Ketchup breaks down rather well, err, it washes away fast, well, I mean it shouldnt stain.

Yup just wash it through thoroughly and you should get rid of all the ketchup. B)

I must admit, for non-easily disassembleable (who cares if it's a word or not, you know what I mean ;)) blocks, I've had a hard time finding anything truly effective yet.
I've been thru ketchup, lemon juice, vinegar, bicarb of soda, Cif foaming bathroom cleaner (which is great for grubby keyboards btw), combinations of several of these (and others) and yet still can't find something to work without being able to scrub it directly with it.
If you suss it, please let me know. <_<

The main issue for me here is i only have 1 tub of distilled water mixd with anti freeze, so i need most of that to fill the system up, im guessing its a bad idea to use standard water? think i'll just leave it, i will be putting it all bak together tommorow, but have to do some work for my mum now i'm afraid,
Cyas tonight or tommorow...
(Its a koolance block if that makes a difference)

Hrmm... pipe cleaners (not the fuzzy, crafty kind, but the bristley stiff kind for actually cleaning (tobacco) pipes) might do the trick.
And its the acid in the ketchup that does the trick, btw.

Run some Coca Cola (brand name, Trademark, and all those funky symbols here) through it, that does seem abrassive though. I used to clean dishes that had a lot of crap stuck on them with coke when I didn't want to scrub them. Dishes aren't waterblocks either.
Call up Koolance and complain.

Coke's evil. Great for cleaning engine parts and stuff like that, God alone knows what it does to our insides

Urban myth, I'm afraid. Take stomach acid. Basically it's dilute hydrochloric acid at a pH of 1, that can completely dissolve a pig's rib (the actual bone) in about two hours. It can take care of a piece of metal the size of a credit card in about three days.
The acid strenght of Coca Cola meanwhile is just about 2,12 pH, so well within the limits of what a stomach is designed to handle on a daily basis.
Still, Coca Cola has a high sugar content and what havoc it doesn't wreak on your tooth enamel, it will wreak on your blood sugar levels, so personally I don't drink any.

Always rinse your mouth w/ water after drinking soft drinks. Just a tip from my family dentist. Now if I could just remember to do that ^_^
