Here is the start of my project I'm working on. Work will proceed at a steady pace until I run out of cash. The project will have an orange and blue color scheme, with of course, some mesh added aswell. The "³" represents that it's my third project.

Here is the case. It's an old rig. Notice the P3 Case badge.

Why the hell is the side panel one peice!
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/3.jpg

I've marked out the lines where I'm cutting the panel into three peices.

Here is the shell of the case.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/6.jpg

15 dremel bits later I have the two fan covers cut off. I can't wait til I get some reinforced bits...
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/7.jpg

There was a vent in the cover, yet they had these brackets stoping some airflow, so I decided to cut them off.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/8.jpg

Here is the second layer of bondo. I covered up the case badge area, where the leds were, and smoothed out the lower bay.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/9.jpg

Here is the finished front for now. I'm contemplating on cover up the entire lower bays and moving the power button. But for now it'll stay as is.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/10.jpg

Later on, I realised I'm going to need better airflow than that. So here I am starting to cut.

Finished product.

I decided to ditch the idea of an 80mm fan, and go with a 120mm. :dremel:
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/13.jpg

Here I took the fire grill and cut out the flame, you'll see more of this later on.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/14.jpg

Here is everything all sleeved. The sleeving is finally done. Phew.

Priming will happen once I get the modders mesh in.

Edit: I'm rethinking painting it myself... Powder Coating seems like a better idea at the moment...

That's pretty nice so far. Are you planning to cool it with air or water?

A lot of old cases were two pieces, as in an all in one cover and the frame. I have a 600 Athlon in a case like that. I also noticed that MNPC has reinforced wheels, for pretty cheap too, mine were nearly $20 for a 10 pack  .

Yea, ditch the 80mm for the 120mm ;)

I didn't know you were in Cheeseland Silverstrand. Get your site URL posted so we can see it your avatar or something ^_^

Hey, a Nobilis case badge. Solid performing PCs! The owner/founder runs a real tight assembly plant. Would you believe I interviewed with them 4 years ago for a PC Tech job? Nobilis is made by EQUUS in St Paul, MN. I thought I had the job nailed, but never heard back. I later found out they hired somebody else for $2 less per hour. 2 years ago I inquired about starting a reseller account to sell their pcs to my friends, family members and co-workers who care less about mods. Its been going good. No RMAs yet

Weird how things work out.

Actually, this might sound rather sad, but this is the first time i've ever touched a 120mm fan... :D I'm just starting to get others into the whole modding scheme, they just love there premods to much.... which always use 80mm...

Also, how many posts do I need to get an avatar?
Guess you got lucky with that job placement then Bill.

someone needs to give me a contstructive criticism <tag>...

Clean up that 120mm hole bro, and you will be well on your way. And the hole in the fascia is square - what are you planning there? Messssssh???

keep up the good work.

Starbuck3733T- Actually, the 120mm blowhole isnt that bad, it's just that the flash brings out every little thing.

And Yes, I plan to put mesh in the front. Yet, I waiting for Bill to get the round Modders Mesh in stock before I order some things from him.

G-nome- I realize my project name is quite similar, yet I did not mean for that. There is no way I could do what you've done to Orac. It's the most amazing and uninque case, that is sure to be the talk of the town for many years to come.

Sorry SilverStrand - didn't mean to swing off-topic. I got caught up in the end of the page while I was waiting for the pics to load.

Funnily enough, one of the oldest rigs I've kept to date has one of those all-in-one U-shaped covers (housing a passive PII-400). It's also one case I never modded much.
Back in the day, I was aircooling and mounting sidepanel fans was a common mod. With this particular case, it was awkward enough to get the cover off as it was, let alone with a fan in the way.

Maybe this thread'll inspire me to blow the dust off it again.
Look forward to seeing this one come along. :)

First mod i did was on an evesham vale case which had a 'U' piece cover. Decided to cut it down one side o i just had a single panel, as found on most modern cases, to remove. Considering it was the first thing i'd done and i was cutting through 1mm steel with my dads jigsaw it came out fairly well.

8-01-04 Update

It's been a while since I've had an update. I had to wait for my the mesh to come back in stock then i ordered late....

Here is the great mesh from MNPCTech.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/16.jpg

After cutting out the square, I started to bend it to fit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/17.jpg

Here it is all fitted and awaiting the bondo.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/18.jpg

Before the case had a one peice panel, I've turned that into two peices now. I'm considering turning it into three, yet I'm not sure.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/Silverstrand/orifice/19.jpg

Sadly, this may be my last photo update, as my second battery has almost died, and I have no idea where the charger may be.

Also, after many design changes, Orifice no longer seems to be the correct name for this mod, yet, I'm going to stick with it, as I like the name.

Expect an update tomorrow (2nd) or tuesday (3rd).

Looking good!

Don't forget to apply either clearcoat or paint to the mesh or it will oxidize. Apply self-etching primer before painting

Yup. It's great to see you include usefull instructions with it.

Yet, with the handles I ordered from you, there was no paper cutout included... But I should be able to figure it out.

Sorry for the mishap!

Measure out 2-7/8" x 5" hole.

Update 08-02-04

Today I had hoped to put some bondo on the front cover, yet, the tube of hardener had dried all out. I'll have to go to the store this week to buy some. Since I had time to spare, I drilled out all the rivets in the chassis.

Here is the chassis rivetless, awaiting it's trip to the powdercoater.

Expect the next update on the 4th.
