Hi all, I'm getting a water set up soon and i need a cpu and n/b water block for this set up. I have just looked on my mobo, but i can't see any holes for the screws to go :(. Is there any blocks i can buy which will fit or am i better getting a new mobo?

I have a MSI K7N2 Delta ISLR. If i was going to get a new mobo i would get the Abit NF7-S V2

There are plenty of blocks that use socket clips to attatch to the mobo. Like the new NexXxoS XP block.

You can also do a DIY homebrew attachment for it. 2 steel rods to run into clips, drill a hole in them dead center and insert threaded rod. fabricate hold-down from thick plexi or 4mm aluminum, and use thumbscrews + springs to attach to the upside down Ts you've just constructed.

At least, that's how I'd do it ;)

My board has *nothing* around the NB, I am guessing yours doesn't have either (i.e. no clips for the NB heatsink, it's just stuck on)

I'm a bit weary of epoxying a waterblock since I imagine the pipes will put quite a lot of force onto the block and try to prise it from the chip.

I know that you want a 1/2" water block, so Danger Den does make socket hold downs for boards where there are no holes. I'm not sure about other 1/2" blocks though.

All of the low flow blocks I've seen come with socket tabs, which is very nice. I'm probably going to pick up a Cuplex 1.3 with a socket hold down for an older CPU soon, although the NexXxos XP in silver is really begging me to buy it.

This is the sort of device Danger Den makes for using a water block on a board with no holes:

that doesn't look to bad, but it depends on the price at the end of the day

The tab hold down alone retails for about $15.
