Case Mod Guide by Mnpctech.com (http://www.mnpctech.com)
Laser grill is 80mm, but you must cut 92mm hole in order for rim to sit flush inside hole
The wheels are from R/C Truck. Hotbodies Predators (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVL5&P=7)
Fasteners are 2" 10/24 machine screws w/ 1/4" alum sleeves and 10/24 acorn nuts.
The ABS plastic surface beneath chrome finish is a disgusting brown color once you cut it. paint it!
That adhesive glue is from Home Depot. Let it cure for 24hrs. Great product by GOOP brand
Metalcast Purple Aerosol paint.

The original grill is 80mm. The R/C truck wheels are Hotbodie's "Predator" (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVL5&P=7)
Dutch is right, this tutorial is pretty much self explanatory ;)

ARG spinners.
I saw an old man with spinner hubcaps on his car at Sainsbury's. I wanted to put the poor guy out of his misery. He had obviously lost his mind. :(

Any questions bdogg?
I thought I outlined it pretty good.

so you just use the spinner rims instead of the regular rims you outlined before for the same effect? The links to the pictures for the spinners didn't work
mnpctech

Yes, same premise.
I haven't found time to do Spinner version

I wonder if it will spin like they do on the car, or will it just be a fan with a still fan on top of it that you just spin yourself

Very good job on the mod. Interesting idea - looks very sharp.

spinners wont work the whole rim needs too roatae for the spinners too work correct. i also looked into micro spinners for my racing/bling micro rc cars but i have found something that may be useful http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=144_21_177&products_id=15667
they are micro disc lights, couple of micro watch batterys and placed inside the wheel. now i was thinking they could be placed behind a smoked prop cone like on the ducted fans you made :D,
must say briliant idea and they also do some nice alloy rims too (pollished of course)

ah i have even better for you adonized alloy rad mounts or rc shock towers we call them, i wonder could hook up a small diff and create a spinner effect but would need covered incase small fingers start poking around ;-). ill get some snaps up of my micro alloy shock mounts they would add that swish look too radiators, btw best idea i seen for those darn clips in freezing weather they are the bane of us racers :D. try neoridium magnets fella they will stick too most things (W/Without glue) and give that easy removeable item but also have a good grip so wouldnt just slip/fall off. we use them for racing too

Here's an idea for the spinner.
Use the magnet from an old Fan and mount it on th topside of the fan you're using. Then an alu disc connected to the spinner through a bearing. The way it works is the magnet induces eddy currents into the disc which then follows the motion of the magnet.
Car speedos use this principle and if you have access to an old one rip it apart for the bits, simply replacing the needle for the spinner and losing the torsion spring.

that would work or have the spinners slightly twisted too force the induced air too spin up the spinners. you could use the actual motor as a device too allow the spinner too ingage using the magnets as a throttle but careful work would be needed with those unshielded poles

Thinking about it a little further. The extra magnet may not be required, so no fan mod is needed. If the disc is in close proximity to the existing magnet of the fan it may work.

This is so simple but effective. I joined this forum because I saw this thread and then read the rest of the site.
This has inspired me to take up case modding in my spare time and I think I will start with this little project as it looks like one of the more simple and effective things I have seen.
