Time for a few modifications.
My tower, as it is, i really do like but i dont think is 'amazing' as it could look, if i modded it. So i have a few modding plans to the cooling, monitorsing, sidepanel and cooling system to make the machine a thoroughbred beast. Propostions for the mod are:
[1] New Fan/Temp monitoring system
[2] Intergrating the cooling into my case
[3] Cooling North Bridge Chipsets & VGA
[4] Possibly a new PSU, a bit later
Ok, alot of people here will know what my system is, and its an absolute entire monster. Its not really you're average pc, however it is not overclocked atall, and thats the way i'd like to keep it, i reckon 2 x 2ghz processors is plenty quick enough!
The System in breif is as follows:
Dual Amd mp 2400+ CPus
2gb DDR ecc registered pc2100 mem
2 x 120gb maxtor diamond max 9 @ raid0
Matrox Parhelia 128mb triple head
General CD roms, etc.
The case and cooling:
Thermaltake Xaser III V1000D Blue windowed case
Q-TEC 550W psu **
Enermax 4 x 4 Fan controller Temp moni
All really schweet wiring (dont need to be touched)
Koolance External Liquid cooling Aluminium version
2 x CPU200G waterblocks Gold (Koolance)
ok allready i have a small problem in that the tubing is only 1/4 and is not compatible with alot of things.
When doing the watercooling mod, the resivour and pump is going to need to be replaced, i fancy one of the dual floppy drive resiviours if possible, or is there anything else better? I will need a pump and the quietist and cheapest is the best please lol
Cooling the NB and VGA is going to be difficult because of my arrangment of tubing, if anyone could please come up with a 'route' or something of which i would cool everything including a resivour & pump. I havent got the kind of money to replace the waterblocks (any donations) so i dont know if its worth going to 1/2 tubing or something?
I dont know to much about watercooling apart from the fact it dosent mix with electrics and that it can be bodged :)
The enermax fan controller sucks and barely works, just looks cool and illuminates my bedroom at night which is kind of annoying, i would like rid of that and replace it with something that can maybe monitor the temprature of my processors and maybe other stuff like fan controlls etc. Another Issue here is that if i do intergrate the cooling, the way the exos is set out i will need to put the radiator at the top front of my case which will significantly loose alot of space, probably an entire drive bay so if the control could be as small and compact as possible so it dosent get in much space. thats good. The case has a small cutout in the front door so the entire top is visible wether open or shut, so it must look good (under the door i dont care about)
**The PSU, i dont beleive is powerful enough, i am seeing fading of the EL strip at the rfont of my case and cathode dimming when i boot a cd etc. I thinks i need a bigger psu, but i am not sure what size. Becuase of the ammount of juice all that memory, big gfx, 2 cpus, raid etc all sucks up + mods lighting fans etc i am thinking maybe 800w. Where could i get one of these from and how much?
If pug can help me out price wise for these mods i will start a full project about it as i'm getting a digital camera soon :)
Ok, i'll provide a link to a page i'm currently making with pics for case.. ty
