as a/c stuff is low flow - is just a basic lil ehiem pump enough or will i see and improvement going with a bigger pump?

thanks

Not that I know what I'm sayign is accurate, but I'd think that there wouldn't be an improvement if you went with a larger pump. By larger I mean an Eheim 1250 or so. If it's designed for low flow, that's how it's gonna work. Right?

I have two blocks (GPU and CPU) and plan to add two more blocks, and I don't plan on changing my pump from an Eheim 1046 (Aquastream 12v) to anything larger. I'm sure Pug knows more, but I think I know that he has four or five blocks running off that "lil" Eheim 1046 (again, an Aquastream - AC's 12v version). ^_^

1046 with small-bore 6mm ID works fine. With 1048/AP900, you really need to run 7-10mm ID to see much of an improvement worthy of speaking of.

The newer cuplex Pro may be slightly different but I do remember AC stating the there was little improvement to be had by using any stronger pumps with the blocks available prior to its release (and the only tubing/hose choices I know of that were ever available for them have been 8/6mm plug&cool (pushfit), 10/8mm pneumatic (compression fit) and 12/10mm barb (umm, barbed?) and again, there is little, if any performance difference to be had between the three (unlike the choice/number of radiator fans).

Thing is, it's not necessarily that it's been designed for low flow & that high flow won't work - easier perhaps to think that it's been designed with a certain flow rate average in mind and has been optimised for that accordingly.

Well, something I love about low flow is that no one is screaming "waste of flow!" or "restriction!" around every corner.

You know it and I know it but there are those who'll still scream it regardless.

ok thanks thats kinda what i thought, thing is if i go bigger tubing ill loose the plug and cool fittings wont i? and ill be stuck with barbs.

also as things like the aquatube only have a 6mm gap is there a point without modding all that to a bigger size?

sounds like to much hassle for a few degrees.

OK, that's another thing I love about 8mm tubing, "Plug & Cool". They are the best, and so much nicer to look at than clamps on the tube holding it down to the barb. I will admit that I have seen 12mm (1/2") push-fits, but they look similiar to the sort that Asetek ships with their Waterchll line of products. A friend wanted water and ignored my "buy Aqua Computer" plea. Instead he bought that Asetek kit. The push-fits are loose and very easy to pull out when pushed in, all the way too.

ekk, well im not sure if to go the plug and cool route or the 10mm barb route for all the gear.
ill have to use clamps for that tho wont i, hmmm.

thought going 10mm will make my life a bit easier later on if i want to change bits about as theres more that fits that.

Stange, I've been mucking about with the Asetek hit and haven't had andy trouble at all with the supplied blocks or pumps. I've also modded the old rad to take pushfits and used three (and counting) different types of fittings in the rig to boot.

Tubecutter is advised, of course!

:)

Well, I guess I shouln't rag on about it, perhaps it was just a bad kit. Oh well. I did happen to get some new all metal Plug and Cools in my last order, they're so much nicer than the ones with the plastic inserts.
