Hi all, i'm new to this forum and as the title says water cooling ^_^. I feel it's about time that i moved over to water then air as i have just got a Mobile XP, which i'm going to overclock. At the minute i'm running it at 2.2Ghz (XP-M 2500+) and the temp is 41-42C ide. The fan i have on the heatsink is very loud and it's starting to bug lol.

This is where i need your help. I don't really know what i'm looking for so i'm trusting you on this . I need a water cooled system for my CPU, gfx card and mobo North bridge. I'm not on a great budget as i'm a student and not working much, so i would say £200 if i'm lucky for the set up. I would need all the stuff as well tubing etc.

I hope you can help

I would think that the Standard or Basic (http://www.wizarddesigns.co.uk/kits.htm) sets plus the applicable twin plexi northbridge (scroll down a bit) (http://www.wizarddesigns.co.uk/blocks2.htm) blocks and a twinplexi GPU cooler (http://www.wizarddesigns.co.uk/blocks2.htm) would fit the bill. you've still got P&P to cover, but that should jsut about do it. Any of those radiators should be able to handle the heat fine, but bigger rad = slower fans = quieter.

Welcome to WizD! :D

It looks like you're on a tight budget so the first thing I would ask is do you realy need a watercooled NB. If noise is a problem then a Zalman NB heatsink will get rid of the noise but still cool well.

Heres a list to get you started:

Cuplex 1.3 - 34.99
GPU Twinplex - 30.99
APE 120 - 38.49
Papst fan - 17.99
Eheim 1046 - 32.99
conversion kit for pump - 6.50
Primer tank - 26.99
2 metres of hose - 3.98

= 192.92

That's just a rough guide of the kind of thing you could get. You would need to refine it to fit your needs exactly. Pug and the other people on the forum will be able to give you more help.

That sounds about right. Do you really need to cool the NB? I've left mine passive, though I will be WCing soon. But to be honest it's been fine with just a passive stock sink on, and its an A7N8X, which I believe has the hottest northbridge chip of all the Socket A boards (of those that are passively cooled anyway).

i was thinking about the NB because when i see most water cooled systems they have the NB cooled too. I forgot to add my hardware before so here it is:

Mobo: MSI MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR
CPU: Mobile XP 2500+ (Overclocking it at the min)
GFX: Abit Siluro™ FX5800 DOTH Deluxe
Case: Thermaltake Xaser III w/ Window

Most do, but if you're on a tight budget I would cut out the Northbridge (as I did) and make sure you cool the CPU and GPU as well as you can for the money. Then further on down the line you can add in a northbridge cooler with not much fuss.

How easy would it be to set up the system? would it be better to buy all the parts brand new or get some new and some of other users? there is a forum where you can do this on, which has things in place where you can't do people out of money etc.

If you find one let us know. :D

You can pick up some bits in the for sale section here.

Haven't got the time I'd like right now to give a fully comprehensive input to this but on the NB block factor, the results of this Bit thread (http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=60800) might prove interesting for those heading for high FSBs in their overclock.

I need to revise the price for when you buy the primer tank and pump conversion kit together as there's no need for the inlet fitting so there's a few quid off for you.

I am aiming to list some new kits at various price points soon.
It seems that it's a trend to be cheaper to get a kit than buying components separately but in recognition of this fact, I'd probably do you a group discount on separate parts that comprised the makings of a full kit as best I could. :)

that sounds great. My cpu fan has just died on me so i'm using a case fan at the minute, which isn't a good thing. Hopefully i can get some money together and get a system asap.
