I took the plunge... replaced those IBM P260's with a trio of Samsung 21.3" LCD screens and I gotta say... major, mondo improvement in the 'putering experience...

Aye, yah, this has been my dream for quite awhile... some clever bidding and patience on eBay was the trick to not paying an arm and a leg. Believe it or not, the whole point of building BaDassII was to be able to run three digital flat panels through second generation DVI connectors... and dagnabbit, it works slicker than snot. B)
and no, no mouse pad... don't seem to need one... I even tried a Ratz pad, but the formica inlaid on the keyboard pullout seems to work the best, especially with a weight lifting glove... if any of you are on a 'puter all day, or game a lot, try a weight lifting glove on your mousing hand... works for me.

I even tried a Ratz pad Interesting you mention these. I had bought bulk of first version to resell to local Gamers. To this day, I never sold a single one. People I had try them out still prefered using cushioned pads.

Ratpad is me favourite no doubt. Very slick, especially with a coating of silicone grease. Cushioned pad cannot compare.
:h34r:
Absoultely chews through mouse feet though.<_<
Nice setup Dutchy your making us jealous again.:D

i have an everglide pad and a razer viper mouse and its very precise. i cant even afford one tft monitor, let alone 3!
I saw a pic of a flight simulator setup with a bunch of screens all around once but I'd have some of this triple goodness any day given the choice between the two.
   <- triple cool, accordingly. :D

Wow, i live in burnhope, near stanley, you might know that place!
If you ever fancy a game of ut2k4 accross 3 screens, your allways welcome..
Anyway, i got the picture *resises for 56kers *cough* pug *cough*
File Too Large. Limit for this filetype is 39.1 KB. Your file is 40.2 KB. - Pathetic...
Kickass,
Yeah I know Burnhope .... it's not that far from Chester-le-Street.
Nice setup by the way, I'm now feeling slightly deficient in the monitor department with only my 19" Ilyama and my 17" Hitachi TFT ! :D

We'll try to get back to AC stuff now... Aye Kickass... that's kinda what I had going with the box in the left of this pic... dual 2400MP's (modded XP's) and a 256MB Parhelia. The UT games and flight sims were certainly a lot of fun, and I can't tell ya how many times I burned a fatty, turned off the lights and watched the reef demo over and over and over again... but the screen resolutions were hurtin' my "work".

Damn work always wins out in the end...
BTW... the rig on left is still running, but is really nothing more than a back-up rig networked to the main rig. It was the first PC I ever built... has been runnin' for a couple years now and its almost time to clean out the water cooling. The Parhelia's even still in there, unplugged...
Enjoy the triple head rig... there ain't nothin' like it.
Glad to hear you got bit by the bug. B)

That's a nice desk, any info on it? Yeah, the monitors are nice too, of course. I have a single Hitachi 17" LCD and uh, I love it. I plan to add another, hopefully before the end of the year
I'll be needing to save up for an Nvidia SLI solution and then if I'm not seriously in debt I'll add another monitor, but I think I'll be in debt and owe more than $250 in interest alone per month...

Thanks Dr.... I built the desk out of 3/4" plywood covered with formica and trimmed with 1x3 birch strips. The keyboard tray works off of a pair of Steelcase brackets that let it slide in and out, tilt back and forth and move up and down (eBay finds). The tray itself is also plywood trimmed with birch, but the boards are flat instead of on edge.
The desk actually goes around three sides of the room. B)

I'm drooling now. That is one very darn lovely desk actually, I'm going to have semi erotic dreams about it now, uh, nevermind. It is lovely though. I'm thinking about adding a corner connector and then another 6 foot section to my desk, one for both sides, and then on one side, I'll put my bearded dragons cage. That way, she'll always be entertained and I won't have to get up to play with her, of course I'll need to put my bed benind the desks. An all in one soluition allowing seemless movement and transfer. Yummy.

You keep your wife in a cage?!
bearded dragons .........?????????
nevermind, I wuz wondering if someone could tell me how a parhelia card stacks up against a standard video card, does it compare to a 9600 or what (I had thought that they were only any good for 2D stuff - but very very good at that)

I wanted the 256mb parhelia but couldnt afford it, and seeing as my dual mp rig only has 4x agp i got the older 128mb model cheap on ebay, its a nice card and plays games in 2400 x 800 no problem! Its suprisingly older than i thought!
Not to be sad, but i read your article about your two rigs and that kinda inspired me to do it, they are some really sweet monitors here i love them! Inspiration is the key!
I am sitting here now with loads of stuff open, my taskbar has almost been filled with apps all the way accross allready, all three are on 1280 x 1024! Lovely!

I have both Parhelias and can tell ya that the 256MB version is only a very slight improvement over the 128MB model... it would be a waste of money...

True. More memory allows for the storage of bigger, more detailed textures, but in terms of graphics speed you will see little difference.
