I think I might just wait til Tuesday to look at it. It's going to be pretty slow on Monday.

Can't wait to see it though

This is like the moment you're waiting for your favorite headlining band to take stage.

g-gnome is the rock star of the mod community B)

We know you guys have been waiting a long time for this, and believe me, I've seen it and it's worth it.
Master of understatement on both counts? Can't wait.

I'm going to beat my modem to a bloody pulp downloading that worklog, but I know it'll be worth it :D

Woohoo! It's up (and looking as good as ever).
Took me about an hour all told to get to the last page but now I feel all contented and happy (and can get on with ordering and all the rest of the boring stuff again :D).

Massive thanks to Pete for the link (http://bit-tech.net/article/135/21) on this one too. *me starts the "not worthy" mantra chant*

Jebus!

I expect to see Orac3 on the cover of a few mags this year.

Pug, you can't get any better publicity than that!

i like the way he sleeved the wires, he did a great job. and used loads of different materials, bet it must have cost a fortune

Also loved it. The one thing that strikes me is it actually looks a bit cluttered cable wise for my liking, but I suppose that fits the overall theme of the project. A great read from start to finish.

That was entirely my first thought until I realised that much of what I was seeing was reflections in all the chrome. B)
Still, don't envy swapping out hardware in it.

True indeed Pug, I spose some of it is reflections and I totally agree about swapping the hardware in it. Definately wouldn't want to be taking it apart and putting it back together too often.

That's what I like about the Metaversa project in here for instance, the fact that a lot of effort has been put into making it so easy to dissasemble by allowing the water loop to come out in one piece. Genius.

Aye, that's a bitchin' project... ^_^ Well worth the read... ;)

I'm still reading... jeez, I can respect the craftmanship as godlike, but the style doesn't trip my trigger. Still extremely impressive though!

Pretty damn sweet. Has a fairly heavy industrial feel - but a kind of hi-tech industry. Esp. with the cable routing/termination boxes.

Didn't know that you could have perspex/acrylic chromed though  weird.

toby

i didnt know you could get acrylic chromed either! its not what i would have done for a case mod but you can definetly see all the hard work and good ideas that have gone into it

Wow. Just got done reading it and I'm amazed at the level of workmanship that's gone in there.

Personally I'd have liked to see the wires bundled up more tightly in order to show the stealthed motherboard a bit more, but that's still far and away the best case mod I've ever seen.

Well, I've read the "finished article" (in both senses of the word)... It's all pretty awesome. I'm not one for glowy plexi and chrome bling-bling myself, buyt the craftsmanship and realisation of a theme is outstanding. Definitely raises the bar of modding!

Hey, I'm mentioned as a credit on the second page. Do I have some l33t-cred now or what? B) Although in all honesty (and I did mention this in the Article Discussion thread on Bit-Tech), Scopedog takes credit for discovering the Pi-Thon hoseclamps and showing them to me first. But the hose/tube seperators idea is mine, all mine! :D

Well looks like ScopEDog and yourself will be getting mentions in my log then (not Bit, well under par for a feature there)
as I have ordered some Pi-Thon clamps too

And I thank you for it, sir! :D

Hey guys!

Thank you kindly for the nice words! I'm just glad it's done. I have a nice idea for the next project and can't wait to progress it (I've already started). Yes the Orac project would be time-consuming to change-out hardware, but not as long as peeps think as I know the process now. However the intent is not to upgrade - when the tech is old, the case will sit on my shelf. It's more an exercise in modding and building my skills than the workhorse everyday-PC I had originally planned. It's going to live under a dust cover mostly with only occasional use. So now I have the urgency to build another comp to replace my ageing XP2000/Ti4400 combo as a regular workhorse. I'll be building a case from scratch, and have some interesting ideas. It may not look like anything you've seen before...

It'll probably take a short while for the traffic to die down at bit as the project got slashdotted about 7 hours ago. The bit servers are ticking along fine, though the site has slowed down a lot. I hope everyone got to see the article ok.

And yes Nexxo, you are famous! B)

Really? I thought it should be more along the lines of: Gently reclined on a purple velvet cushion, under a bullet-proof glass case, enveloped in a climate-controlled protective argon gas atmosphere, perched on a marble pedestal. Rope chains circling it. Pure white halogen spotlights focussed on this work of art that is visited by modding pilgrims and worshipped by modders everywhere...

the 'real' Orac would somehow think it appropriate. :D

Ahh nexxo...what a way you have with words :p

G-gnome excellent work on the case, and looking forward to your next worklog. If you ever make a stateside visit with ORAC let me know, wouldn't mind taking a closer look :)
