So my desk is in my basement. I've either been greeted (landed on by) or spot these tanish colored spiders on my desk. Busy getting emails and doing forum obligations, I've had to surrender to the little bastards so I can get work done. We've co-existed for more than 2 weeks now. All fine and dandy, but last two days its now these baby spiders. "Inviting the whole family now?!" "How many friggin baby spiders are in an egg sack?"

At this point I might as well wear a black cape with fangs... "Count Mnpctech"

(checks his hair again)

That sucks dude. I'd get some terminex spray in there right now, baby spiders will grow up and make more baby spiders. And there are (or can be) hundreds of eggs. not cool, especially if they bite you.

At least its not mice. or ()#@(#@)#@( cockroaches (like my old place in TX... gigantic cockroaches). or fireants. or college students--whoops, those were supposed to be there....

Heh - I remember leaving an old Kawasaki in my folks garage (originally a listed coach house) and coming back to a webbed up infestation of baby arachnids all over the front end - didn't last long when I took it out for a spin tho' ;)

[Edit] must admit - without checking which forum this was in, I half expected a case with a Ziggy Stardust style paintjob... :D

You know, I never did buy that bug killer Star suggested.

I had to play the traffic cop this morning.

3" Centipede is cruising (on morning commute) down the wall towards the floor... and the spiders are on their way to school (grade school btw), which is located above my desk :duh:

jebus K! the centipede just ran out from behind the bookshelf. its 4", not 3"

Work needs to get done, so I try to co-exist <_<

Holy thread revival, inspired by the spider story in the "weird Ebay thread" no doubt. :wiz:
I don't mind spiders but the missus hates them. It'll be interesting to see how see fairs when we move to Australia

I don't like spiders and when I went to Australia I was expecting loads of them. Only saw one wild one the whole time. That was staying in a tent in the Outback and it was only the size of a small one back here :duh:

I guess they must have evolved a bit to be able to put up tents.

Don't centepedes eat spiders? Perhaps you have two mnpctech, and they read Knipexs' post.

What eat's centepedes?

The Red back is notorious for hiding under the loo seat and biting you an the backside when you go to drop the kids off at the pool.
I think most of it sounds like sensationalism, not helped by the fact that they have more deadly spiders in Aus than anywhere else in the world. I'm fairly convinced we wont see many when we're there, esp. as we hope to move in or around Brisbane city centre.

I think as a general rule the more toxic an animal is the less you tend to encounter them.

I watched a program on Tv about a type of Spider in the US (iirc) which injects you with a venom that causes necrosis of the body and the only thing they can do is remove the effected limb/appendage from above the bite. Thing is it can randomly break out again years later so they have to chop a bit more off.

I like spiders :thumb:

When I went under the house to add another cable line to my room, there were 3 or 4 grey rats down there.

I've never heard of that nasty sounding spider though, only poisonous ones I seem to recall are the Black Widow (lots of em around here) and the Brown Recluse (they don't live here).

I dont realy mind bugs, but snakes creep me out. Dont get me wrong I dont cream like a girl but I hate snakes. :o)I dont mind rats either as those are easily killable with a large boot or somehting.

Well no pest is a good pest I supose, but as long as it aint a snake im cool with it.

There's nothing wrong with rats, I used to keep a pet one in my youth. His name was Brian (after the messiah) .... i took him into college one day :bounce:

I found a load of spiders living on one of my outdoor chairs on sunday. I saw a web in the chair and thought nothing of it. My wife like to garden hence there are alot of flowers. There were some yellow specs on the web, just waggling in the breeze and i thought it was just pollen. We sat down to eat homemade burgers from the bar-b-q and Aiden, my son, said "Look at those spiders daddy". I looked around and didnt see anything then he said "there all yellow!" and i realised. Looking closer they were about 3 mm long bright yellow, with black cammo markings. Looked very cool!

Dont BIG spiders eat centepeeds?

Yeah, rats are cool, I had a couple (well, they were actually my brother's rats) but domesticated rats are really nice and friendly if handled properly from young.

Venomous snake. I think there's only 1 kind of venomous snake in the UK, an adder of some kind.

I want a pair of rats, or a hedgehog, but I already have a dragon

Sure it does :o It snows in the winter, usually rains in the spring and if it doesn't, there's a drought. So, if rain is scarce in the spring, then it usually stays dry in the winter, that didn't happen this past year. :thumb:

Then, if it's dry in the winter, the spiders stay outside, if it's wet, you'll find them inside. Of course I can't explain why there is a web in every conrer here, and the resident spider is dead right outside the web  , in every web...
