Looks very nicely built, did you come up with the design yourself or base it on something? - Nice bikes too, btw. B)
[edit]I'd have thought more rake on the steering column but that's just an impression I get.

cobalt6700
11th October 2005, 18:04
well we have built it from plans, and we got some parts, but we have had to make a few bits here and there, plus lots of love and attention. :thumb:

plan is to get it up and runiing, do a wicked paint job, and the sell it on. its only something to tickle our intrest with, and depending on how this one goes, the next plan is either a 2 seater with a large motorbike engine or a trike with a car engine, or something really wacky. :wiz:

w will see.

BTW if anyone is intrested in buyng it, we may have it finished for christmas (what a nice christmas pressie for your son ;-), or you!!!:D)

idea for coulor is yellow and blue.

another update either this friday with pics, or next week end some time. were also moddin the volvo. mini fridge, footwell lighting, and a induction kit, maby a boost valve. :dremel: ^_^

hehe ... this thing is way cool :D

Years ago, a mate of a mate made a gokart which was leathal yet soo much fun!. Kind of similar you your design, it had a 600cc bile lump with a mental home made linkage that went to an old mini gearstick with sequencial forward and backward shifting :D It had a mini seat with masses of pipe lagging on the roll bar because the springy seat used to bounce your head into the roll bar at the top . It also had mini wheels with no suspension what so ever. and was liable to wheelie accellerating hard over bumps!

'kin scarey but oh so much fun! :wiz:

Good luck with yours man, ill be watching closely ^_^

i think i deserve the worst week of the week award, awarded weekly on a week by week basis. try saying that fast (radio 2 listeners know im not mad:thumb:)

my week has been so shit. citylink cant delvier the back axle cos the lost it , my scooter is in bits, and i mean carb off, oil reg off, gears out, body work off. it killed its self. i dont think there is any oil getting trough. <_< :wallbash:
and i had to push it 2 miles to work and 5 miles home..

:bat: (http://misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=24#) to the bloke i got it off.

tho i have found an engine for the cart. so i braught that. :D

eh hem. yeah. well the engine is here!!!!!!!!

woooo!

umm yeah lol. very exciting moment . i didnt get many pics of the packagine with it in, cos it came off faster than my girlfeinds clothes. me and matt came back from college to get my mum saying, what the hell is this f**king huge box on my door step, and we were like, dont know mum. lol. we knew what it was. she thaught it was a graphics card??!!!?! lol.

mums for you..

anyways, we got it oil'd up and petrol'd up, mounted it to a board and it vibrated its self accross the grass while we were running it in. lol. alll good fun.

it really marks a crucial milestone in this project, we now have a powerplant. we still dont have a back axle. lol. plus we only have £500 left to spend on it, and that is £250 each next month, and then its the home straight!!

just got to get some paint, and bits and bobs, work out shit, get some lorry mudguards, genral stuff. plus move enigne stop switch ot front of kart. anyways nuff of me fogging on, some pics of the beast, and she is, it kicks the board up when you rev it!!!!

Nice motor. Sounds like its built rite. I was wondering if you thought of forced induction for it? :D

I been cooking ideas over the past cuple of months on how to make cheep forced induction units for small mototrs like that. Lets just say it involves something very unlikely. Anyways.

Also how about a water jacket for it and a heatercore and nice 12v pump to keep it cool?

Anyways nice motor.

Ps get rid of the muffler and put on a cuple of strait pipes in horn shapes. It should sound like a machine gun.:wiz:

lol, i was looking at some tuned pipes on ebay, and i think i my go with that. also, a scooter induction kit may fit onto it, but its got a weird mounting place.

how the hell would i put a water jacket on it?? (or were u being sarcastic?)

and can u give me a hint as to your forced inducton, i might just give it a try :D

i just got this through for the GFX from fibbs (the one that my mum thaught was in the huge box, hehehehehe :D)

THe water jacket can be done in a fiew ways.

First way (I dislike this way) is hacking the fins off the motor and smothing them down on a lathe. Then getting a pipe larger than that and welding some O shaped rings ontop to create a tight fit and welding the whole thing to the head. Taping two holes and puting barbs then just runing water through it.

I would prefer keeping the fins geting a pice of pipe that has the diameter of the fins (if the fins are round) and piping it with a larger pipe and create two compression flanges ontop and bottom to tighten the thing water tight with bolts and use barbs again to flow water through it.

As for the forced induction. Lets say its sort of like supercharging but with some very cheep unlikely parts and electronicaly controlled.

cobalt6700

LOL@hairdryer.

Not quite tho. Ill tell you this mutch, it does involve a :dremel:. Im thinking about building a small motor first to test it out, before I get laughed at. And im even thinking about intercooling it. Lets hope I dont blow the motor to bits.

Yeh that could be problem. No breack in time means short life. It means gauges in the cylinder walls, warped parts due to heat and general breackdown and short life cycle. But im shure they know what they are doing pug:cool:

cobalt6700
7th November 2005, 23:20
haha yes i do. have a friend called will that is.

the minis are totally blackbox. as with any off the shelf RC stuff. so that ,means motors intread of servos. and there shitty single acting put into one jobbys. so. we are just using them for spare parts. and were going to put a firewok on one.......probably matts.

im strapping mine onto one of those boxes that gos blam blam and shhots up little ball shaped fireworks..... ill dig a hole over the common.

well see.

There is a new show out with Ryan Dunn off Jackass and Viva La Bam called Home wrecker. Last night he wired up two paintball guns to a servo. The guy walks in the door and he sees a picture of him self get shot full of paint, 400 paintballs all in this one spot and I thought I saw a small chunk of drywall missing.

I want to do that to my gun lol.

Ever thought about forced induction?

Well I have an idea for you. go to a junk yard and get an old turbocharger, the smaller the better. Find a weedwacker motor (30cc or so) hook up to direct drive the compressor housing by removing the collector housing and bold directly. The weedwacker engines spin up to 40k rpm easily so you should get some very good boost. Connect to the main engine intake and bore out the sprayer for gasoline.

Start them in synch, or you can start the main first, the compression of the main engine should be able to fire the secondary engine easily.

Be careful though, you can blow the engine to bits. It would guzzle fuel but you could be looking at allot more power.

I wanted to ask, what kind of gearbox do you use? is it a torque converter kind? or is it a full gearbox.

Congrats on finishing it up.

cheers for that -

getting a small turbo was an idea i had. thats an intresting way of doing it though....i was simply going to made a custom exhaust manifold and run the turbo off the exhaust.

no gearbox as of yet. no diff either. its a direct drive via a centrifugal, geared down 4:1.

ill have a chat with matt about a turbo today.

jaguarking11

Be careful with forced induction and two stroke, engines made like that are not very strongly made, so if you overboost you can blow the block to chunks hurting yourself. If you decide to go forced induction though, get a barrier between you and the engine, at least a thick layer of alu.

Also when experimenting get a mustard bottle full of fuel and feed the engine manualy in case of overheating, and for gods sake take proper precautions when experimenting.

Kawasaki had a very sucessfull two stroke turbo from the 1980's so google that up and you will find some helfull ways of tuning it. Remember two strokes have not timing chains or belts or valves so to prevent detonation add some alcohol to the fuel.

I know its very complex but it can work if done properly. I am currently looking for an old turbocharger and I cant seem to find a decent one for cheep. The engine I plan on starting to experiment with is from an old moped I plan on gutting.

I figure its my first window to tuning engines, then I plan on getting a small 4 cyl off the junkyard and play with a 4 stroke. The possibly an FI v8 later on.

You see I analyzed building a votus and realized that I need some experience with engines and transmissions before jumping in, well more experience than what I have now. I plan on picking up a ride on mower transmission as well.

GL and for god sakes be very careful when dealing with engines.
