I want to make my own custom-sized snap-out fan filter for the top of my case, where can I buy the foam mesh type stuff to do it? I've got no clue what I'm looking for on the all-mighty mcmaster.com

thanks guys!

Why not make a wire frame and use a black womens stocking threaded on it and put it between the grill and the fans? It should look good. And its washable.

Just an Idea.

^^^ beat me to it... after only reading the title, I was gonna link a lingerie store. :-p

Mebbe try an auto-cross specialist or something of the like.
Some kind of auto race nuts will want to buy raw filter material too, I'm sure.

Not in my mod neccessarily, but I'm sure we'll see it :)

Good links, I've gotta go to ace for more fasteners anyway. I don't think you can cut filtrete up b/c of their internal structure. I'll probably make the frame for the filter out of 1/8" plexi, and either have it laser cut when I order the lettering for the side panel, or just D-I-Y it on the 'fake mill'. :D

Thanks guys.

The foam filter in my Lian-li looks like the stuff they use in aquarium pumps. Try the aquarium section as you might be able to buy a block of it and cut it up.

NP. ;-) Out door pond pumps might be more appropriate as they would have larger filters.

Found some nifty links in googleUK. Too good to go unposted.
K&N Air Filter Facts (http://www.knfilters.com/facts.htm)
and
A UK-only filter mfr (https://secure.jfilters.com/store/main.asp?p=home)
^^ if you find something here that suits though, we can sort something for you, I'm sure. :-)

Filters designed for water use are not the same as air filters.....much more restrictive. I use real air filters in my rigs....like this.

That filter looks like the ones you get in laser printers. Star maybe you could 'acquire' some from work.

While he's at it he could 'accidentally-on-purpose break the printer, take it home and then magically fx it' :naughty:

Shoot, I actually just had a pile of printers go to salvage yesterday... oh well.

Thanks Starbuck.....that computer actually has two intakes, both with the same filter. No dust gets in this computer. (I've got a thing about dust). Most of my computer mods involve cooling, quieting, and filtering. Very few appearance mods.
