I am on the hunt for a switch that completely evades my mind right now. I can't think of the proper name (aka google name) for the switch! I got this idea while going into Lowes one day a while back. They have the automatic sliding doors that only have motion sensors on one side so they are true "enter"/"exit" doors. Unless you look at the right side of the door frame. There is a switch there that is not a pressure/toggle switch. It is more of a conductivity switch with low current needs. Basically your skin makes the connection between the contacts. I know there is something similar at www.xodide.com (http://www.xoxide.com/vl-system-touch-one.html), but that is just way to gaudy for what I want.<_<

I like the door switches I have seen because when mounted they extend no further than a bulgin vandal resistant switch.:dremel: This would make an ideal switch for my purposes, but I just can't find the bloody things!

Filling holes.....
I have an antec sonata that has been sitting in the closet for almost a year now. I was cleaning out my comp room (aka throwing out stuff that wouldn't sell) when it screamed at me and yelled "mod me!!" So now I am looking the case over and have ideas going all over the place (sadly no water cooling as there isn't room for a nice rad), but have run into a problem. Antec made one heck of a case with the sonata, but why did they have ruin it by punching a bunch of holes in it to spell their name on both side panels? me--> :slap: <--antec engineer

What is the best filler to use to fill in all these holes? There will be a cut out design in the side panel, so the filler has be able to stand up to some flex later on, take paint, blah blah blah. ideas?

Are they not called touch switches or contact switches? Star has used something similar in project goliath.

I take it you survived Katrina ok Willier?

Not sure, will have to research that thread when I return home this afternoon. Thanks for the tip to the thread.:-)

My wife and I are actually about 6 hours north of the coast. We had lots of rain and high winds, but no damage really. The back porch tried to flood, but a bit of shovel work fixed that in the middle of the storm. We never lost power and amazingly my dsl stayed up! This is the dsl that seems to drop if someone in the neighborhood puts a sprinkler in the front lawn and it hits the phone line.<_< Oh yeah, I really like these offtopic tags too.

Otherwise, I was thinking maybe fibreglass mat & resin on the backside first but I haven't played with a Sonata in about a year and can't remember quite what you're dealing with.
You'll need to back it with something if you want it to stay filled though. If you just goop filler in and sand it flat, it won't last (unless you fancy countersinking both sides of every hole, that is...).

Motion sensing... never messed with that before. What you're after could be done with QT110 chip, there are other ways of doing it too, but I'm very fond of the Qprox chips as they work very, very well.
