Well I was watching 5th gear rerun last nite and I realy got hung on the car of the gods.

http://www.astonmartin.com/thecars/v12vanquishs

v12 vanquish S. Man did I love the sound and detail on the car. Only downside is that the transmission is too high tech for my taste. It tries to choose gears and gives you gear availability. Hampers the fun but man did it carve every corner perfectly. It got kicked by a ferrari but as the host said ferrari is becoming boring and I quite agree. Any idiot can buy a ferrari or porsche but not too many enjoy their astons for more than a daily cruize or a roundabout around town.

Anyways no real reason to post but many will agree that the v12 vanquish is one amazing automobile.

I'm going to do a complete 360 here from another post and say that the Aston is one car I would happily splurge on. Its just an amazing bit of machine.

The auto box in the Aston Martins has been pretty heavily slated of late, on Top Gear they said the car was near perfect but the gear box just wrecked the whole car. Mind, if you can afford an AM you can probably afford to have it converted to a manual or a decent auto box.

I'd go for a DB9 over a Vanquish though, it may not be as fast, but it's a much newer design and it's fixed most of the problems with the old DB7.

Aston Martins have to be my all time favourite car. One day I will own one!!

Wooooo top gear rules starts again in the autumn, my favourite feature was the bit they did on Japanese Drift Racing and he takes a Voxel Monaro VXR over to japan let them try it out, those cars can do some serious skids

you mean pontiac gto? Its been competing in formula D for a year now and its realy doing some serious stuff. I loved when they did a review of the asie version (original version of the gto) and it was doing 1500rpm at 65mph. The guy driving it said this engine is idling...LOL...Gotta love ls1's and ls2's have more power to boot.

I'd go for a DB9 or Vantage, definately not a Vanquish as every pro footballer and his wife over here has one now. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/dry.gif

Off topic!

You might catch a glimpse of my ugly mug on 5th gear, as they're filming at Silverstone on Sunday and I'm attending.

I say attending, but private helicopter ride from my place to Silverstone, access all areas pass and champagne breakfast attending. Ah the perks of the job :D

CORRECT!!!!

But you guys seem to have borrowed our engine and transmision rear axle posibly suspension from our cars. Lets see now. Before it was the ls1 motor that is primarily a vette mottor and the tremec trany that also belongs in a vette. Rear axle too. Im not too familiar with the suspension but I belive thats off a bonaville... No matter though. Your correct the gto is a holden that has a pontiac front end. And as a matter of fact I would rather own a real holden than a gto but at 80grand ill stick to a 36k gto with an ls2 and 400ponys. Or for 66grand ill buy a new z06 with breack neck acel at 0-60 in a blistering 3.7sec and a nice ls7 shoehorned in it.

Btw is that a pickup monaro? Reminds me of the elcamino. But the front end looks like something off a mitsubishi. I prefer the newer meaner gto front end with hood scoops like the original.

anyways gm is a big old conglomorate and they share chasis with all sorts of brands.

well holden is owned by GMC

that 'pickup' which we call a ute is a HSV Maloo

HSV stands for Holden Special Vehicle

its like nismo is to nissan.

they basically take a standard holden shell and engine and whack in more power, better stopping power and better handling, + a few cosmetic things..

check there website out at http://www.hsv.com.au (though the new 05 maloo isnt as good looking as the 04 maloo imo)

u reckon a holden monaro is tuff, the HSV monaro is tuffer :D (LS2)

Well in the states the special vehicles are usualy 3rd party. Lingenfelter does some good work with gm's. I think they made a 650hp ls1 and probly in the 700hp range ls2 but they are most known for their TT 427 small block. Pushing out 802hp and 850+lb of tourque. They do pretty mutch anything to gm's you wish. From adding hp to cars to making them handle better.

One of the best cars and very near to my heart is the 2001 vette with the 802hp 427 and a 0-60 in a blistering 1.9seconds on the drag strip and they even configured them for corner carving with that mutch power. Mind you a vette with that mutch power is not easy to handle but those who can handle them pull some impressive track times and turbo lag is not a problem for those machines with a measly 15psi of presure.

lol the point we are making is that the:
Vauxhall Monaro
Holden Monaro
Pontiac gto

is the same car, its just that the Pontiac obviously is left hand drive and has a different front bar, but yea doesnt change the fact its the same car.
