If you've read my other recent thread you'll know I've had a vew probs recently
with graphics cards and water blocks .....

What I want to know is, will I be OK trying to cool a 6800GT with a std AC gfx/
northbridge type block, as long as I have ramsinks on the memory?
I'm not planning to overclock the card by the way.

Cheers,

Olly

Yes! Watercooling the RAM isn't really neccessay, especially if you're aren't overclocking. :thumb:

I'll add the caveat that you'll still need some kind of good airflow going on (from experience with a lesser card in a completely fanless box).
Stress-test with a good gfx benchmark & watch for artefacts as you would if you were overclocking. :thumb:

A little bit of airflow plus some ramsinks seems like it would do the trick. I'm using a twinplex on my radeon 9800 pro.

Good point, I've not got much airflow in my case and my GPU heatsink dedinately get's toasty

I used the Twinplex Star's gonna be using on a 9800Pro OC'd to XT speeds with great results (and ramsinks). For my 6800GT I used an Alphacool GPX (29° idle with a dual rad and 53cfm) and no memory cooling, OC'd to 425/1250 (could go higher, but there's no need). I never broke 33°.

I've got a twinplex cooling an OC'd 9800Pro with no ram sinks and its been working fine for over a year.
