Sorry, but you're saying you've never seen any of the above before? http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/huh.gif
Good god man what rock have you been living under? http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif
The Zalman flower has to be one of the most famous heatsinks available, mainly due to it's rather distinctive shape. Infact, I have one sitting in the PC next to me.
The other two are newer but have still been around for a while.

How about that one from Thermaltake, eh? This is one of the reasons I don't argue too much when people talk bad about them... they make some stupid-fly stuff.
Or how about the ASUS Star Ice?

Each of these is big enough to make you wonder what the hell they were thinking...

I don't have a link right now, but I saw one that's an improved heatpipe; it's ~2 inches in diameter, all brass, and is roughly 6 inches tall. It came in two different sizes.

I've always thought most of those sorts of HSF's were neat looking, but have never used anything other than Swiftech, Thermalright or a stock HSF

yeah but if it cools well then its doing its job. Form follows function.

It looks like it might do well, w\ the shroud on it to keep all the air flowing through the fins. Cept it looks like it's configured to blow air in, and we all know what happens when you do that on a radiator (which is less restrictive than those fins of the HS)... the air bounces off and you get a severe airflow drop compared to pulling. Or it could have just been the stupid PR department putting it on backwards for the photoshoot.

I'm going to give the mfr the benefit of a doubt and guess that they didn't want the fan mfr's logo on their product images.

Any other pics? Mebbe there's a second fan...
I've seen different shroud designs on heatsinks perform differently on fan orientation.
The best-known users of shrouded h/sinks were always Alpha. Their shrouds were nearly always optimised to have the fan scavenge off the h/sink but it's not a hard & fast rule for all shroud designs, imho (and they certainly didn't look like this one).

Way back in the day I did some tests with an Alpha. Having the fan flipped to run the other way didn't make much difference at all. Less than two degrees if I remember right.
