ok i am moving over to 3/8 inch and so far its not to bad i had to use my old 1/2 inch tubbing to go to and from my pump because no matter what i tryd i could not for the life of me fit the tubbing over those fittings (hell i had to heat up the 1/2 inch tubbing to make it fit.) now i am loking for a magician to do the lil ring trick and make my cpu block bracket actualy go on to the tubbing because i freeken forgot. also another note is vinyl fittings and vinyl tubbing stick togeather realy well and making eatch of thease damn tubes go on to the damn T fiting far enough that i fell safe about no leeks is a pain in the ass.

anyways back to the royal pain in the ass i have been working on for the past few hours.

You haven't forgotten the ole' trick... stick the end in boiling water for 20 seconds, then be quick, have you? :inno:

nope been using it all along the biggest problem with that method is the tubbing isnt srong in any direction the best solution would be if it was wek in the outword directon and strong in the length direction but thats not possible sothats the only solution.

fixd the bracket tho next up is the t-fitting then all that left is filling the system and leek testing witch il just have run while i sleep.

oh and i mounted the radiator sticking screws directly from the fan through the radiator simpely blowing as hard as i can in to one fitting while plugging the other assured me that by pushing the bolts though the radiators fins didint caus any leeks... (if i did or does it gives me the chance to buy a radiator with a built in shrowd or one with fans holes already in it.

You didn't buy (by accident) 1/16" wall tubing did you? poor sod. As dutch said, heat it up then twist it on. 1/8" wall is more than strong enough to go over the polypropylene or nylon barbs. Single barb fittings are also (imho) far superior to multi barb fittings, for watercooling, at least. something about getting wide, then narrow again in short order, probably. the multi barb ones never get skinny enough again to let the tubing "elastically" (?) close up around them.

where'd you get this craptastic tubing?

Would 7/16" tubing be close enough for your needs? It'd be a much easier fit, in between 3/8 and 1/2 in flexibility. Cathar over at OCAU (http://forums.overclockers.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=24) recommended it. It's what I used. Makes for a very tight friction-fit. These guys (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=18316&product%5Fid=7689) carry it in America, dunno who sells it on the other side of the pond.

the tubing isnt bad its the user who well isnt good at dealing with the tubbing..

anyways i was lazy and desided to just use my thinwalled tubbing on the parts that connected to the T-fitting (all but 1 are 1/2 inch...) i think i figured it out plastic fittings cause most of the problems with using small tubbing on large fitings i guess i should have bought a smaler T fiting while i was at ace...

the tubbing was from ace and its got a thicker wall but not 1/8 because they were out of stock of that.

my tubbing layout is much better looking and is more around the center of the case and not the bottom thus wont rub on my sound card anymore... im happy...

now where is my alenwrench so i can start filing my loop...

[Tip] For future reference, put a dab of dishwashing liquid around the barb as you go to put the softened hose on it. :magic:

Ahh yes, this does work too. I've been using high viscosity silicon spray for the same purpose. I discovered it originally as I needed something slippery and that's all I had at hand (had recently cleaned my paintball gun and left it out.) attempt to apply the soap/silicon/slippery stuff to the OUTSIDE of the fitting only, otherwise a bit more than you would like will end up in your loop. :h34r:

now thats a good idea thanks guys ill have to try that. (i realized that i connected the in hose to the out fitting on my waterblock and the out hose to the in fitting... witch means i have to drain my loop and reconnect those pices of tubbing...

lastnight i tryd filling my loop and ended up blowing in to my fill port in order to move any water in to the lop at all. it realy sucked... (well blew but hey what ever..)

not even minuts after starting work today i injured my self with a very sharp knife that i was using to cut the tubbing off the fittings. the wond is kinda deep about 3-5mm deep but isnt not bleeding too much its mearly a miner annoyance right now if it buggs me too much ill go to the hospital but im at no risk of losing very much blood though it. a simpel bandaid was able to fix it right up. anyways y finnal note is when cutting stuff cut away from your hands feet and rest of your body NEVER put your hands infront of your knife for any reason.

You've made a blood sacrifice. Now the project will go very well until the mod gods deem it time for another.

3/8inch tubbong...At least we know now that you don't actually need a bong quite that big... :D

oh yeah sorry didnt mean to type that wrong... tryed to fix it aftwerwords but didnt succceed.

anyways my loop is almost compleat i just need to get all the air out of the loop witch is kinda a pain in the rear...

i wish i could just push the water in and not have the water in turn push the air that im trying to replace with the water.

ok i got the loop all setup and installed all the hardware all that was left was pluggint it in and turning it on... ok well thats over with now i have to turn it on... Holy shit my monitor isnt displaying anything!!! the power light turned green but nothing happens i dot get to se my bios the light on my svideo to coaxial box witch usualy turns on when receving signal from my video card dosent turn on and i craw in to the corner and cry... i tosted my video card not from water or anything of the sort but from stupidity and over handeling... :( but ill have to come up with something to tell my perants to make them not mad at me for doing something i know i not supost to do... (i got it ill tell them the card must have gotten wet during some point of the process and tosted it...) :( i feel stupid and soon $200 poorer... :(

i am looking for a video card witch will give me a noticeable gain in profromance over my 6600GT I am looking at 6800GTs and X800XLs but the 6800GTs are out of my mid $200 or below price range and the X800XLs tend to have very poor proformance with linux.

the card i want to go with must last for a long time and i would like to use my current GPU block on the new card so the same hole pattern would be nice but neather the 6800 nor the x800 have the same hole pattern as my 6600GT.

i must say this is the second thing i broke by screwing with my watercooling setup meaby i shouldent screw with my loop afterthis unless im moving to a new case.

please recomend me a new videocard witch gets no less than 60fps in doom3 in linux will work with my current waterblock and is cheep.

rma your card zero. Just slap the stock heatsink on it and file an rma.

yeah i have to find the rest of the pices to the heatsink... but for now i slapped the stock heatsink (well part of it) and ill take it down to a local computer shop and have them test it... im actualy thinking about getting a diffrent card a few possabilitys are the BFG 6600GT or a x800xt (biggest thing about the x800 is poor linux support) i think the bfg would be the better way to go (oh yeah i bought this card last fall and with the short 30 or 90 day warranty im out of luck.)

OEM video cards have a decent warranty, at least all the ones I've bought have try first at any rate, if you can get it RMA'd, you could sell it to some one to make up some of the cost for the new card.

i honestly have no idea about how long the waranty is look here this is all i know. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125156

That's a retail card. You need to realize that retail cards are warrantied by their manufacturer (Gigabyte in this case). Newegg only has a return policy if the card were to stop working withinh a month or so. You need to find the serial # stickers on the card, then go to Gigabyte's website and look for warranty info. If you can't find it, send them an email with all relevant info (they're excellent when it comes to warranties) and see what they say, then hopefully you can RMA the card. Most often, you don't even need the original packaing, just an anti static bag and a box that's properly wrapped.

Of course, since you did take off the stock heatsink, you could do the 'honorable' thing and suck up the loss.

Might sound silly but have you made sure that the card was fully pushed home in the AGP slot?
Some people can be reticent to give it the pressure needed (and some builds give a goddawful crunch when it does go home properly - scary stuff).

First time I ever built a computer I did that. Didn't push it in enough and nothing worked. :duh: I don't think the card was ever the same since :-(

Good call Pug. Especially w\ some boards AGP locks, they really do snap into place with quite a loud pop.

ok well my motherboard is still shorting out after leting it sit for a good 24 hours. ill rip it apart and try to find a short but i might have some bad bad issues somewhere and i hope i dont have to replace the mobo too i was just getting to like it (in a somethings are good others suck type way)

sorry im just pannicing i have no leeks and dont see any real shorts that i can see but its obvius something isnt right.

my panicing was unfounded the problem causing the motherboard to turn on and off rely quickly was the fact that the 24 pim motherboard connecter wasnt all the way pluged in.

oh and i ordered a BFG 6600GT witch should work well i can also put my gpu cooler on it although im not shure wheather my fittings wil fit over the heatsinks on the memory. i guess ill have to wait to find out.
