Ok, since we've had some rather large images posted here in the last few days that have seriously affected page loading times I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread with some links to FREE, yep, thats right FREE software for resizing those pics.

There isn't ANYTHING that thing can't read, plus it can do batch resize (Really handly)

well its simple easy to use and intergrated into the menus which is why i like it cause its just so easy, almost no effort involved and its free!which always helps^_^

Yeah, thats what makes it so simple in my eyes too. And it does have the ability to define custom dimensions if not a custom file size... http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/unsure.gif

well a good free image editor (that some people disslike) is gimp this also includes the ability to resize images its also avalable on any os (windows mac linux beos etc.)

Nice find with the power toys webpage fillip! Some of those will be really usefull and the truetype wizard has improved my monitor no end!

Can any of these programes be given a list og photos to size and size them with out the user stay aroung the computer.
I try to resize but I lazy some times. I use paint to resize my pics but its done one by one. I want some program that can do all at once.

Just started using irfanview after a recommendation from my draughtsman friend, it's very handy, powerfull and quick to use. I like it a lot.

I have a program I use called PhotoResize.exe. It's simple as hell and quick too. All you do is drag and drop your photo's over the .exe. Thats it! You can drop like 20 at a time and you specify the image size by renaming the .exe with the size. So if you want 640x480 images,... name it, "PhotoResize640.exe". Copy/ Paste so you have two .exe's, one for your large images and one for your thumbnails:) Example: "PhotoResize640.exe" and "PhotoResize160.exe". I uploaded it to my server for anyone who wants it. The .exe is small as hell in file size so it takes seconds to download.

Irfanview is also a good option to view images.
