Just as the title says I need a socket 939 mobo. I need something that will perform well and overclock when I decide to push it. I want to stay away from boards that have every color of the rainbow crammed onto the pcb since it will kill the inside of my firefighter case. As long as it doesn't cost me more than $500 throw out any board that you know is good.
Oh yea please don't give me a board that costs more than my whole watercooling setup:duh:

What's chipset did you have in mind? Right now the top contenders are either of the nForces (Ultra or SLI) or VIA's KT890. If you're still going for AGP, then it's just their AGP varients; the nForce 3 Ultra or the VIA K8T800 Pro.
If going the PCI-E nForce route, MSI's nForce 4 Ultra ($126) or SLI i($129) and are great boards all around. Chaintech's VNF4 nForce 4 Ultra is only $85, and I happen to think Chaintech is underrated as a mobo maker, since their quality is top notch. Both Soltek (SL-K890Pro) and Abit (AX8) have under $100 KT890 boards.
Still, you might want to offer a little more insight to what you're looking for anyhow.

Take a look at the MSI NF4 boards. Very respectable looking and performing boards from what i have heard. I would have gone for one if i didnt want the extra power of the DFI.

I knew I forget to mention something earlier this morning when I was making that post.
Preferrably PCI-E with an nforce4 chipset ultra if I can.

Asus A8N, not SLI.

I have one of the early-revision MSI nForce4 Ultra boards and it won't overclock very far with Winchester-core Athlon 64's. It's a known defect. I don't know whether they ever fixed that or not but today I'd go with one of the DFI LanParty nForce4 boards or an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (just for its fanless heatpipe northbridge cooler) instead.
Monarch (http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=80166&Category_Code=AMDC) offers some pretty neat X2 combo deals. An A8N-SLI Premium and X2 3800+ combo is very, very tempting.
