Ok
Over here I would be rated as a sort of knowledgeable guy when it comes to cars. No petrol head but I know a dipstick from a sparkplug.
But I understood only about 80% of what you just said.

Autocrossing and club racing ...fun around town. I bought a 95 Passat GLX, 2 months ago. This blows it away off the line. The Passat is my first VR6. Already got the Bilstein HDs and Neuspeed soft sports installed. Shoot me other VR6 performance recommendations based on your experience..Sounds like Autotech's p-chip is good deal

Lets see if I can translate this for those who are interested and at the same time let you kno what I dont understand.
2.0 block from A3 Golf GTI w/ original 1.8 head ported and polished.
Ok here. You took the block from a 2 ltr engine (the pistons cylinder crank etc. ie. the bits that go up and down and the bits that turn the up and down motion into round and round). You used the head from the 1.8 (valves and cam shafts)
Shrick 268 cam w/ adj cam sprocket, Timing advanced 8 degrees,
I assume this is a performance cam (stronger but the cam sprocket lost me. Advanced timing to give earlier spark.
Modified 16V ECU w/ custom programmed p-chip, balanced and blue printed fuel injection w/BOSCH factory modified euro-spec intake,
OK you have a non standard ECU program to enhance power but the balanced a blueprinted bit lost me.
Modified intake ???? I assume this is a software mod... Same with computers sotware aint my thing.
Modified airbox w/ custom intake duct, Custom made TRI-Y header, Techtonics hi-perf cat and mid-pipe (2.25") w/ stainless steel Scorpion muffler.
OK modified air intake for less restriction and custom intake manifold. (to allow the engine to breath in better)
Less restrictive cat so she can breath out as well as she breaths in and a stainless back box. How the stainless box help performance I dont know unless it also aids airflow but I assumed the cat would be the most restrictive part..
Custom built tranny w/ 394 ring pinion and VW Motorsport limited slip, Sachs sport clutch w/16V pressure plate, lightened flywheel.
Custom ratios on your gear box, I assume to give better acceleration (at the expence of top speed). WTF a w/ 394 ring pinion is I dont know.
A sports limited slip dif (helps cornering so you are not dragging one wheel) performace clutch with stronger pressure plate take the extra acceleration and use.
The lightened fly wheel to aid acceleration (but rougher idle). A fly wheel is big lump of metal mounted at the end of the crank to add inertia. This helps to keep the rotation smooth in between the indivudal bangs from the pistons (without this you would get a very jerky rotation or rough idle) The disadvantage is that when you accelerate all this weight works against you so by lightening it you help acceleration but get a rougher idle.

I followed most of it but the balanced and blueprinted thing - you lost me.
I've been contemplating ditching my 2 point slow (2.0L 8V) engine/tranny/trimmings combo for the same from something running a 1.8T. Custom exhaust sure, but that's no issue. I figure if I can do a same-engine-swap (1.8 to 1.8 in my previous 88 fox) then doing a 2.0 to 1.8 conversion on my 97 jetta shouldn't be too much worse if I can find the appropriate donor wreck, or better yet an new audi A3 donor wreck with the 2.0T engine/trany/computer/trimmings. My jetta is ugly as sin at the moment, the paint is fading and it doesn't matter how many times I rubbing compound or wax it, it always comes back to hazy in the end. And the wheels are ugly... god I'd kill for rims but keep spending my $$$ on mods ;)
Sweet wheels one way or another!

Older jettas were never my thing, most mildly build ones Ive ridden in were slow and handled horrid, they might have been old tired cars though. But its looks to be a well thought out setup.
What kind of suspension setup ya got?

sounds good bill. Sounds like a mean litle monster. But b4 you go modify the vr6 why dont you do a bit more modding to this.
I figure a large turbo from a cummings dodge vehicle should run very little money and you can tweak the collector on the turbo to gve you good boost at lower rpm's. YOu can then decrese compression ratio and reinforce the bottom of your mottor with custom machined flanges to keep the thing from shooting a piston. YOu could aslo reinforce the vavle train in the same manner. Get a nice high presure fuel pump and oversized injectors from a 3L or larger motor and adopt them to fit your setup. tweak the sprayer and make a custom exaut collector. That should net you about 300hp and matching tourque and a healthy 35psi or more if your feeling brave. Just make shure you rev limit that thing or else it will be like a granade.
Its always fun to tinker with engines, you seem pretty dam good at doing it too.

Using the 1.8 head w/ ABA 2.0 tall block gives more low end torque.. and ability to use earlier Bosch ignition and CIS injection system for more tunability.
I assume this is a performance cam (stronger but the cam sprocket lost me. Advanced timing to give earlier spark
You replace your timing belt pulley with this adj sprocket (http://www.greedspeed.com/prod_images/large/62.10.21.jpg), It allows you to advance the timing, changes power band to more low end torque, or retard it to increase high end (top speed)
OK you have a non standard ECU program to enhance power but the balanced a blueprinted bit lost me
Not just the program (performance chip), the ECU (knock sensor or knock box) itself has been modified. There was 2 knockbox variations in 86, Hella and Thriumph Adler. The T-Adlers have a more aggressive fuel map, but you had to unlock it :naughty: by grounding a couple of the wires
Balancing is making sure all of the parts have identical weight and rotataton for optimal performance.
Blueprinting measuring and maching all the engine parts to perfectly match the factory design blueprint.
I had the Fuel Distributor flow tested and balanced and blueprinted by a vw performance shop.
Modified intake ???? I assume this is a software mod... Same with computers sotware aint my thing.
OK modified air intake for less restriction and custom intake manifold. (to allow the engine to breath in better
I have a euro-spec (larger) throttle body thats been ported along with the manifold to match
Less restrictive cat so she can breath out as well as she breaths in and a stainless back box. How the stainless box help performance I dont know unless it also aids airflow but I assumed the cat would be the most restrictive part
The performance advantage of stainless steel over aluminum is debatable, but SS perforated cores won't rust and break down like aluminum. If you crack open any muffler, you'll see the pipes are perforated with round holes like this (http://www.vehiclefx.com/images/comingsoon/Exhaust_Magnaflow_xl_diag.JPG) Aluminum corrodes, breaks down over time and can clog up these holes. Stainless also gives you that Low Throaty sound.
Custom ratios on your gear box, I assume to give better acceleration (at the expence of top speed). WTF a w/ 394 ring pinion is I dont know
3.941 ring and pinion (http://sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/0205scc_projfocus02_zoom.jpg) Final drive ratio from VW Rabbit Diesel. Shorter 1st gear so I can pull out tree stumps ;-)
A sports limited slip dif (helps cornering so you are not dragging one wheel) performace clutch with stronger pressure plate take the extra acceleration and use.

I know that thing handles like a champ, i had Bilstein HDs and Neuspeed also. Although definitely not for daily use (like a dumb arse i had it for daily use..made for an interesting ride every time) but it is a very good suspension setup. I had a nice throaty dtm SS exhaust setup, and autotech chipped too (seems like i'm in good company :) ). I had a 97 gti vr6 and the only complaint i had is that the engine always seemed to give up after 5k rpm on almost every gear. I know its not a high rev engine, but it did get frustrating sometimes. Tons of low end torque though, chirp 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. I started shopping for an EIP turbo kit, but they quoted me 9k (something like 380hp, how the heck do you get that to the wheels safely?) and that turned me off a bit so i sold the car.
I was also using pirelli p7000 17's 215/40 front and rear(very noisey and bad in wet!). For me it rubbed a bit on the rear passenger tire (because the gas tank filler neck) but it wasn't so bad.
So it was a loud, bumpy ride that i couldn't drive in the wet...god i miss that car :D

I can dig some up... Ran in SM over last 2 years. I dropped out of last years season to concentrate on my business ...and still took first place!
Scroll down to SM catagory on this page (http://www.mnautox.com/points/2004/MOWOG%202004%20Series.htm)
Nowadays I try and get out to help Instruct when I can.
What are you doing Thursday, August 4th?
Open track session at Brainerd International Raceway (http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/MN/Brainerd.html)... $160 to bring your own and run on the track all day! Morning Classroom session for Novices... Best seat time you can buy  seriously consider taking a few days off.
That goes for any of you car nuts..

only down side to having lots of tourque and hp on a front weel drive car is that it will tourque steer like crazy especialy when launching and high speed cornering. But im shure you know that.
Oh I saw a similar 4cylinder car with similar mods I mentioned, only thing is that the car was a rwd mustang with a 4cylinder motor that the owner modified in a very similar way. He would burn rubber like no tomorrow and the car was completly junkyard part built. He ran 1/4mile drags at a little under 12seconds.
He had a very nice intercooler that he had made. He bought two identical intercoolers and actualy ripped the ends off and made and welded a shroud that made them work in paralel. Funny thing is when he consulted other turbo heads they toold him the setup would not work and he proved them completly wrong... Such is life.
