Everyone else is sucking ZapWizards teet today, we might as well too. Personally I think its just a very well fit peice of carved wood, other than that what is the big deal? maybe I am missing something. I think its rather bland.

Be fair, it's a hella nice job! And I very much doubt either of you would have done so well.
No need for zap-bashing for zap-bashings-sake.
I like it a lot.

I think its a great job of carving.
Wood carving like this is a wonderful way to practice your skeels and if ya screw up... ya still got the plastic cover... :wiz:

I mean im not saying it looks bad or anything, he did a really good job on it as I am sure that was delicate as hell, just I dont think it really warrents every modding page on the internet going insane over it though.

I dont think it really warrents every modding page on the internet going insane over it though. You hit on a point that's fascinated me lately... whether its news coverage or the attention paid to certain "mods". Its never clear what's gonna take-off these days... a lost girl in Aruba or a wood cover for an iPod. :wiz:
I think it has to do with what people understand. More of "them" will understand an iPod cover than some of the whacked out complicated schtuff a "real mod" entails. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out a cute blonde gone missing after a night at the pub with three locals. <_<

Why not bring that up on Bit's thread about the topic, instead of here? It does a disservice to them posting here, especially if you would rather see other "mods" performed, you need to let them know what you want.
Personally, I think that's hot as hell. He did such a good job on it too B) I haven't exactly seen the modding scene flooded with iPod covers.

Its an eye catching mod, performed by one of the top modders and he's modded probably the most iconic product of this decade. No wonder its on all the front pages and imo it deserves to be.
I would far rather see that then a case skin stuck on an ipod.

It takes alot of skill to work with wood to that kind of accuracy, especially when you consider its only 2mm thick.

Totally agree, I think it's excellent work.

Or a case skin stuck to a case (http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2005/06/09/project_fear/1.html) (last page (http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2005/06/09/project_fear/12.html) - pics).

lol Plow if you read the forum thread on that feature you will see a few heated posts from me. ;-)
I like it, I don't think I would have one but it's certainly impressive work :magic:

Nailed it.
You guys' opinions are fine by me, but lets keep things on the not-so-nasty side, like it is now. If any of this goes ad-hom, I will lock this thread.
I strongly encourage you all to post your feelings on bit-tech as well.

I'm not to keen on it, although the work on it is amazing.
Looks a bit like those car radios that you used to get to match your dashboard in plush motors <_<
It's still a fantastic piece though ^_^
