Hi,

What's the best thickness perspex for a window? The bolts I have are 10mm long and a bit of length will be wasted due to the washers I have.

Thanks in advance :magic:

3mm - 5mm will do fine, prob' 5mm since you have bolts double that length.

I've got a 5mm window but tbh I think 3mm would have been better, it makes the window quite heavy (so much that the sticky tape isn't holding it greatly :h34r: )

Yeah, it depends on what tolerences you've got in terms of how you're mounting it, how much you can afford for the perspex to sit proud from the side panel etc etc. Either is fone, it's just what fits your needs best.

take into account you've got 1 or 2mm (or 3 or 4 in my case) of metal to go through too.

Not if he uses the old 'stealth bolt' trick and Araldites them to the inside of the panel http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif

If in doubt get the gripfill out IE: no more nails

Based on my experience with it on the bathroom panels, I'd say use PVA - much more manageable & cleans up easier in the event of error. :thumb:

Stuper Glue it?! Either that or use that high toxin level glue used for sticking steel to peoples faces - First developed by NASA for a laugh, so thats where my tax's are going........?! Besides isnt perspex uber expensive I know an A1 sheet of 4mm Acrylic is £60.00 - About $100.00?! Thats not cheap!! About the equivilent to 2x Viewing windows?! Alternatively you could pin it?! Spot weld little "U" shaped slots onto case side then just slide into place, no bolts, nails glue or anything, nice and clean, only problem is exterior paint work would need sanding priming and painting again cause weld would colour the steel / ali (TIG welding is even harder!! So if you got an ali case, glue it!!)
