hi im looking to upgrade my comp. Im going for a socket 939 mobo. Basically i use my comp to play games so im looking for one of the best if not the best socket 939 mobo. Personally id rather have 1 gfx (X850XT rad) as ive heard this can OVERpower 2 6600GT's on SLI and i have always prefered radeons ¬_¬.
SO which board shall i go for? oh and i also want 2gb of ram if u have any reccomendations tell me :D

AFAIK, the two best 939 boards atm are the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and the MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum. Regarding the Asus board, if you only need 1 PCI-E slot then maybe the A8V-E

Dont forget the best OCing board in the World (DFI-NF4 SLI-DR, or the ULTRA-D)

I've heard a mix of positive and negative reviews about almost all DFI products which makes me more than a little sceptical about using them. I may have to try though if the current crop surpas the previous generations.

Seconded on the DFI, you really can't beat that board for overclocking atm :D It looks the part aswell (if you're into those sorts of colours) :)

If you plan on going down the OCing route use DFI. I have tried all 3 boards
MSI add a few problems keeping overclocked 939 (3200) stable @ 2.5ghz
With Asus/ DFI add no problems whats so ever But i prefer DFI anyway
As for graphics ATI all the way :p

Do you need low latency memory? The prices have dropped immensly, so buying the memory in 1gb sticks is easier than ever.
I'm going to buy a pair of Geil Value RAM sticks at 1gb each. The timings are: 3-3-3-6 @ 400, but might be able to run at 2.5-3-3-6. The cost should be in the 50 GBP mark. Some users reviews claim they can OC a little bit, but not a lot.
My second choice is a pair of Patriot Memory Systems RAM, for around 80GBP each, for 1gb sticks. These are 2-3-2-5 @ 400. Reduced timing and they fly, according to some reviews.
Corsair makes sone nice 2-3-2-6 @ 400 in 1gb sticks, but the specs claim that when used in an AMD system, they run at 2-3-3-6 @ 400. No idea on OC'ing.
Crucial makes their Ballistix RAM in DDR500 to DDR600 in all sizes. The DDR500 (and anything really) 1gb sticks are expensive -_- .
well i cant realy vouch for any DFI boards i have som weird issues with mine. (i have a Lanparty UT 915-P) some of the issues are: the worst support of acpi in linux i cant even turn my computer off i hvae to reboot and hit the power button while the bios are loading. another wierd issue is when i turn my computer off in windows it seems to always turn back on about 5 minutes after i turned it off. (got that get annoying when i turn my computer off and get in bed only to have my computer turn back on all by its self a few minutes later) and my finnal issue is my DFI board is realy awful at over clocking i can only get my 3ghz p4 to 3.17Ghz before it gets unbarably unstable and windows wont even boot and i water cool so heat isnt a problem.
realy i wish i never bought this DFI board but returning it or buying a new one isnt an option this late in the game.
anyways thanks for lissing to my ranting but my advice is to stay away from DFI boards like a plage.

I have recently bought a DFI ultra D. Its been running for 2 weeks, at stock speeds, with a venice 3000+ and 1GB Gskill TCCD ram (dual kit).
No quirks, no unexpected shutdowns, nothing to report.
I got the last few bits of my loop a day or 2 before i left for holiday, so i have to get the loop all running before i can try clocking it, I'm only on the stock HSF and its very warm in my loft where the rig lives. (the week before last, when it was really hot, the ambient temp was up to a max of 37 degrees C that i saw.)

Hold the power button down for 5 seconds.

I had that problem ages ago with an A7V-266E...
As I recall, it was caused by some obscure BIOS setting like 'Wake on USB' or something. Took me ages to find it. <_<
yeah the thing is tho i remember spacificly turning off all the "Wake on" settings.
