I'm not so keen on the Suzi but the chops below appear to have been pilfered from my dreams while I slept...

I think we're going to need a drooling smiley at this rate!

Of the Hondas, again, nice but not my way inclined, even the CB Four - of all the original CB/4s I owned, they were all either hardtail or softail chops, never standard (bit like my PCs).

Another US bike mod master though - Arlen Ness (http://www.arlenness.com/) B)

[Edit] Couple of my fave production bikes were the Yamha V-max and now the new Harley V-rod (http://www.harley-davidson.com/PR/MOT/2004/04_template.asp?bmLocale=en_US&market=US&family=VRSC&modelSection=familypage) series.

Nice ride your client has Dutch. Clean lines. I'll bet he'll do well.
I like the subtle flames... hell, what am I saying, I like it all. It's not far removed from the rides that used to inspire me when I was in my early teens (and still do, to this day).

Next shot I wanna see is you smokin a fatty dutch ^_^
:wacko:I s'pose my Father in-law was trying to show that he's a hip-cat-daddy, one day when he and I were driving through Stockton. We drove by a large public park and he says, "That's where I rolled my first fatty, right over there."

I said, "No sheit, do you remember her name?"

To this day, it still makes me laugh. B)

Back to my "client"... ... At first I was surprised when they wanted ten garage stalls in the home I'm designing for them, three that are forty feet deep. After seeing all their toys, I'm beginning to wonder if they'll have enough room.

This is his "long ride" scooter. The other one is his "bar hopper".
Notice the dual electric kickstands (scopEDog would love to get his hands on the actuators, I'm sure) and hidden cables through the handlebars...
I still like the "bar hopper" best.

JIC for the peeps that missed the biker buildoffs on discovery channel:

http://media.dsc.discovery.com/fansites/bike/video/buildoff/buildoff.html

mnpctech
29th June 2004, 18:53
Yea, how Joe incorporated tank into frame. Chica's eye for detail is fav of mine, but Russell Mitchell would get the phone call if i had the "ching"

Is it just me, or do you also smell a Chopper build-off game in the future. Watching those turntable clips remind me of GranTurismo. People would eat it up too

dutchcedar
29th June 2004, 19:43
I gotta chime in here... my favorite bike of the whole build-off series was Mitchell's silver and black dragster with clip on bars. I liked his straight forward simplicity in the design and the lack of "bling-bling". It got me thinkin' hard about buildin' a bar hopper, but a '29 highboy on deuce rails is still my goal... after the house addition.

I think the best bike however, was the one that won the big prize, Hotch's lowrider. His attention to detail and that he did so much of it himself were the two things that stood out for me.

Of the whole series, it was most interesting to see the wide variety of builders and their own unique talents and personalities. It was by far my favorite series of television shows in a long arsed time.

I hope they do things like this more often... B) Hot Rod build-off?

No cable TV. I've kept up with these guys through the Biker mags.

I got the first 4 biker build-off episodes on DVD for father's day though. So I haven't seen anything past Indian Larry vs Billy Lane.

btw: I've seen Hotch's other builds. Flippin awesome. The headlight and handle bar design on this one flow sooooo nicely together.

Funny how nobodys mentioned Arlen's bike. Still doin the samething

Funny how nobodys mentioned Arlen's bike. Still doin the samething :mellow:Nothin' to see on the Arlen front besides a spiffy new 60,000 square foot showroom. I always enjoyed seeing his bikes and still do, but his offering to the build-off (and his son's) was lackluster at best.

Hehe, thought I'd have a browse around the 'Lads Lounge' !!
Great in here, lots of cool subjects.

My first ever experience of motorbikes was when I was 17 and I got asked out for a date with a boy who had made an exact replica of Peter Fonda's Stars & Stripes chopper from the "Easy Rider" movie.

Sadly, I have no photographs now...it was many moons ago! But I did really love that bike!

/me cries a little tear for my off the road beast :(

I miss my bike, pretty much every day i miss it, sometimes i really really miss it....

I have an old Yamaha Lc350 powervalve, looks like this (http://www.sportsbikerider.com/useruploads/production/SBR40_rd.jpg). The one pictured is not mine, but thats how it looked before i started had it. It used to belong to a mates boss. Now this bloke was about 3 foot tall and he made a snooker cue look fat (exagerated for the puropose of this story), he was also a MAD! and i mean really mad, like one pump short of a watercooling loop, south african fellow who happened to have once been in the south african motorcycle stunt team. Now before he sold the bike to me he made a few mods to the air filters and the usual stuff, but allways kept it looking stock. The most impressive, and mose rewarding mod in terms of performance was the pipes, It sounds like a stupid thing to do but he got the stock pipes, chopped em off at the end of the mufler 1/2 way down the length of the pipe and gutted the mufflers for free breathing, then welded them back on and painted etc. They looked great, and still had the BS approval stamp on them. Due to the age of the bike it was not a legal requirement anyway but that didnt stop the rozzers from looking for the stamps at the side of the road doing a spot check.

So anyway, this thing went like s**t of a greased shovel. Weelies were a piece of piss, soo easy infact they would end up being the downfall of the bike, and its rider (a handsome mysterious leather clad knight of the road ... ahem:unsure: ) .. in the future years. Power wheelies in 1st 2nd and 3rd were easily possible with a little weight manipulation, no cluch work at all :D :h34r:. until this one time ....

[fade to black]
[enters mystrious leatherclad knight of the road....:h34r:]

I was 21 .... it was may 23rd 1995, the day before my 22nd birthday. The weather was hot for the time of year, it was late afternoon after sitting outside sunbathing all day, my future wife and i were hot ... damn hot ... so i graciously offered to go out for ice cream. I don my lid, jacket and boots and head off to the supermarket popping a few wheelies on the way when traffic and road layout permit. I get to the shop, park the bike up next to the door and go in for the much needed supplies... buy the goodies and stash them in my rucksack. Now this is where stuff decides to go pear shaped.....

I get back on the bike and due to the new seasons weather etc, i cant resist to pull another wheelie.... no i NEED to pull another wheelie (they are addictive y'know ;) ). Now as it was scool leaving time by now there was lots of cars on the road. Not a good place or time for wheelies on the road, so i make my way round to a small, dissused section of the supermarket car park to satisfy my addiction. Well i pulled a stonker! i had it perfectly balenced, as you do, then accidently blip the tinyest blip on the throttle, imediately followed by missing the rear brake with my right foot... The bike hit the numberplate on the pavement and i lost my grip and fell off the back and started to cut "blowholes" for my knees. As my new "blowholes" were being cut i could watch the bike carry on down the road on its back wheel for a bit (god knows how that happened!) until the front came down with a huge bang. This caused the side stand to open upon which the bike fell ripping a hole in the frame where the side stand was once attached...

pulling myself and my bike together quickly and hoping nobody saw me i rushed off, out of the car park... a few hunderd yards down the road i notice a very strange sound comming from the rear, i look round and the rear mudguard was turned back on itself and was rubbing on the tyre and starting to melt withe the friction... so i yanked it out and carried on home. Parked the bike up in the guarage and explained my story to a dissapointed mum and future wife... It was suring this story telling that i started to realise that my right arm was quite sore.... so i go to casualty and they strap me up and tell me to come back the next day for x-rays etc. Well it turned out i had broken my arm in 2 places, once by the wrist and once by the elbow. I then spent all day, remember this was my 22nd birthday, in hospital getting plastered but not in the sence i had imagined 24 hours earlier.

After about 6 hours of waiting around and pain i finished at the hospital and went to the pub. The first coule of pints went down very well indeed, and it was time to relive myself if you know what i mean. So i go to the toilet, unbutton my jeans etc... well 30 mins later my best mate came to the bog to see if i was allright and rthere he found me trying to do up button flies with one hand. Let me tell you this is an impossible task... If only i had thought before i went in there lol. When my future wife came to meet us she brought me a pair of tracksuit bottoms so i could go to the toilet on my own ... the night continues with me drinking lots more. then, just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water i drop 3/4 of a pint of guiness in my plaster cast that i was set to be wearing for another 44 or so days! Needless to say, my arm got a little bit ripe in teh fragrence department.

The bike has been worked on since but i moved out of home, got married, moved house again, had a child and it still sits in my shed waiting for the day i can unleash my socket set on her again....

I miss her..... ill see if i can post a pic of when i had a racing fareing on it. No mirrors etc .... looked sweet, even if it was a different colour..

sorry for that ramble lol

well im just a wee 16 year old, and am stuck on my 1990 Yamaha DT50.... sure, its all i can really have when im 16, but ive got plans!

i'd really like to make a v-twin, or even a 4-pot (say vfr block) chopper at some stage.

To me a hot bike is the sort of thing that you want to ride forever, and dont get bored, (sounds like something else aswell... lol) and if a bike has that sort of ability, it is one helluva hot bike!

I personally prefer the lower, cleaner looking choppers, but also like the more daring yet subtle ones....

im also a fan of classic sportsbikes such as RD350 LC's (ypvs ftw!!!!)
as well as classic 1970's VFR400's :D

fivecheebs... give me your bike, i'll fix it :D lol i love yamaha rd's... they are lovely, and soooo powerful... dont ask how i know, its a long story :D Wow! kents just down the road from me :D hardcore!

hehe frodo ... get yer filthy hands off my bike ;-)

If you love RDs then your OK by me. I used to go to guilford quite alot in my youth with my bike. A good friend of mine used to run godolming motorcycles (i think it was the godolming one - tiny little shop pretty close to a roundabout. They used to have some cool old bikes in the window, inparticular a triton that i had my eyes on) who had an old LC (non powervalve) at one point. They are beasts if your not paying attention.

GD Browns :D hardcore gangsta's from the hood... lol ok thats too far!

:D i love gd browns, they mot'd my bike and all through it they were really cool bout stuff like my front tire was bald and my handlebars are twisted slightly... and i have no indicators :D lol

Godalming is alright, but my commute to college isnt too fun as its normally 8:00 ish, so i get all the idiots on the road, and i have to pull out onto a main road... just not fun and takes ages! lol

i havent been to guildford for a while now, but i think im going to ride in tomorrow to get some paint from halfords (god i hate the place, but i need clear laquer :() ballz!

**strokes fivecheebs rd350lc** muahahaha thanks :D lol

send me some pictures of her! want to see what sort of condition she's in. add me on msn if you got it (tff_frodo@...blalalala)

Tritons are lovely bikes, since i pass the shop atleast twice (sometimes 20 times) a day i generally see most of the bikes and wish i was 17 so i could ride something with a bit more poke!

LOL. My bike has no front indicators either. Its not a legal requirement for a bike of that age. Interestingly it doesnt have to comply with many exaust laws, so my modded free breathhing stock pipes are OK to use onthe road.

You wouldnt want to see pics of it in the state its in. Its been sitting still for 7 years, half repaired, and its not been started for about 9 years. She's gonna punish me when i do get around to giving her some TLC. She needs new engine gaskets, and some welding, and a new paint job and she'll be back to former glory. I cant see it happening for a while though :-(

This thread needs more pics! I just found it!

I'll have to post some pics of the bikes me and my g/f have. Nothing fancy, as neither of us can weld or fab, but I'm trying to learn. I'll get some pics tomorrow if the weather is nice and show off a bit. :)

As for the bikes on the first page, I like the first exile bike. I dig big fat tires, and that front one is like :o . Not a big fan of their handlebars tho. Too straight and angular to me, but then that's me. :) That cafe killer is pretty sweet tho. I'm really loving the powdercoat!

^^^ Zero_D, if you ever get to the west coast, visit the Arlen Ness shop... that's a real worthy visit. His display includes dozens of bikes that go back decades and have been kept in beautiful condition. Its like walking through a time machine... :thumb:

Here's a peek: http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1214&highlight=Arlen+Ness

Be sure to click on all the pics to get a sense of Ness' brilliance as a designer and fabricator... its clear when you keep in mind how long he's been doing it that he essentially wrote the book on building custom bikes.

Being that I enjoy the strange and bizarre when it comes to motorized creations, this little trike is still my favorite of the Ness creations...

Seen alot of Arlen's Bikes, rode an Arlen Ness Magna for a while.
I like Lanes stuff alot, I like him as a person too, not afraid to BS with ya and isnt all high and mighty
Anyone see the Indian Larry Tribute? and do you have a digital copy of it?

Dont get me wrong, I like OCC's stuff, but the attitude I got from them stunk
we were BSing for a while just talking bikes and stuff, when Paul came outside he took a look at his new 51 Merc Cruiser (which I wanted to steal) then turned to us and goes ok who wants what? I didn't blame him, about 5 minutes before he came outside there were like 20 people there with OCC shirts, pants, wallets, bandanas, e.t.c. and one kid with an OCC gas tank piggy bank, my friend and I were there with nothin and he turns to us and asks what do you want me to sign? we were like uhh nothing but we didnt wanna be assmonkeys so he goes but what about a picture with you? So he gave me his camera to take a pic (btw he isnt that big in person)

He has a store down the block from his shop, its huge filled with t shirts, bikes, mugs, bandanas, condoms, you name it. I bought a shirt with a very subtle logo because I remember at bike week 90% of the kids wore OCC shirts.

PS I know a guy who owns an OCC chopper, I wrenched on that bitch more often that he rode it!!! And it has like 500 miles on it!!!
