I get asked frequently how to do this mod.
This mod not only keeps dust out of your case, but makes cleaning your filters a snatch. Just remove your HD cage and go over filter face with vacuum nozzle.
Order alum mesh filters (http://www.mnpctech.com/Fanfilter.html) from mnpctech
A Dremel w/ cutting disc works best (Dremel disc #409, 420, 426)
or
mnpctech 1.5" reinforced discs (http://www.mnpctech.com/Discs.html)
BEFORE DOING ANY CUTTING, WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES!

Notice that I didn't cut out the entire alum frame. Its loses structural rigidty if you cut all the way.

Upper Fan Holder
Repeat Step 1 by cutting notchs into filter frame to clear fan holder tabs.
I used 10-5/8" Pan head screws to attach filter to fan.

Step 2
Use Dremel to cut out grill portions to allow Screw Heads to protrude. Doing this allows
fan holder to clip back into chassis.
