Eek! Bad move.

Do NOT install this bbcode. Or anything that allows members to input information into an input variable like that. It allows members to copy cookies onto their own computer and log in as that member. How do I know this? It happened on my forum last week, and someone had access to our staff accounts and forums for weeks. http://images.vbulletin.com/images_vb3/smilies/smile.gif Luckily, this "hacker" was benign and did no damage.

Basically, allowing a member to input stuff using an input variable is not a good idea, as it brings up a XSS security vulnerability. Uninstalled it, sorry. :worried:

Shame, that. :sigh:
Let's see if this works

Yea that is a shame, i saw it earlier and it was cool.

I wonder how BT do it? they have a cool Black box with black text (i assume) and on mouse over it changes to white text

I do like the edit tag though, i see its already picked up some of my edits as i usually add the tag out of courtesy lol.

It'd be cooler if it did something like a quote and then ROT13'd it.

WOAH! MATCHING SMILIES!!!!

I can do that one... I just hadn't seen this one done.

Now I know why.

@Star - hehe, there's more where these came from. :naughty:

I'm gonna change the size of the smiliebox now but if I get time, we can have buttons for these tags too. :)

Actually, I was on about the dimensions of the 'more smilies' window that pops up when you click the 'More' link...

Some, like the quick reply and stuff, are built-in.

The edit boxes and so forth wouldn't take long to add back in and I'm pretty sure the smilies are safe...

On the X2 forum they had a spolier tag which formatted the enlosed text as black on a black background so you have to highlight it to reveal the contents.

E.g. http://www.egosoft.com/x2/forum/viewtopic.php?t=84522

edit: Oops, I think you're there already.

You'd have though that msgbox spolier scipt could have been written to parse the text safe before it popped it.

anyway to have OT and /OT for offtopic?

I could do it but since you're fiddling with it, I'll let you take care of it. no reason two different codes can't do the same thign for the sake of efficiency.

Don't post smilies in the OT boxes. They don't work. :sigh:Are you sure? because I just posted one in an "off topic" box and it worked - http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p=26467&postcount=23

:dremel: :mask:  :wiz:

^ working for you?

It wouldn't let me post more than 5-6 smilies though, is there a limit on the number of smilies per post? b'coz there never used to be...

Hmm. Mebbe it was something else I did.
Tricky to replicate but I think I added a smiley from the pop-up window, then dragged it to a different point in the text...
When I previewed, instead of the img, I got {img}images/smilies/wizard.gif{/img} (with square brackets).

I'd not long uploaded it though, so mebbe it was my cache or something. No matter. :)

Fill - yeah, there's a 10 img limit on posts to prevent smiliemania... used to be 5 but I couldn't stick to that. <_<

can we loose the limit for chop shop? sometimes updates are more than 10 images :)

Also, shall we move this thread into mods?

This doesn't seem to be an issue. If you lok at Defyants latest prject log he has upwards of 30 images in one post.

LOL. make that upwards of 50

Pug
3rd June 2005, 18:29
Defyant's cheating. :p
He's pasted 5 pics together. :D

I'd rather not change the restriction for Chop Shop. Pages can get pretty pic-heavy as it is for 56Kers.

Don't see why to move the thread... it's testing, after all.
[onTopic] ^^^ Yup, ignore earlier pic warning. :duh:

I take it it's only to prevent 10 smilies, not ten [img] tags, or is it some uber secret formula?

No. Ten images. Kills two birds with one stone:-
cuts down on smileys and makes people more selective with their photos (hopefully) instead of just dumping a memory card. :duh:

20 posts a page, 10 pics a post; we're still able to bring a 56Ker's browsing to a halt, as it is. :worried:
