Interesting, though some of those cars shouldn't be anywhere near the top 100, while there are som that are absent too. <_<

Not neccessarily gay men, but at least those with small thingies...
Of course, if it's constantly caked in mud from driving through the bogs like an idiot, then all bets of homosexuality are off.

That's a fair point but seeing one over here in that state is a rare occurrence to say the least <_<

Ok now I have calmed down a bit (and I only read hte top 10)
Maclaren F1... the worlds greatest car of all time ?!!!!! Not a chance.
VW Gold GTI.... Ok in the top 100 but not top 10...
Jaguar E-type... now your talking but under a Golf  The F1 shouldnt even be alowed in the same room..
Mini... No argument here.. Definate top 10 contender...
Ford GT40... No argument here. Carroll Shelby himself blessed this one..
DB9.. Great car no argument on that but did they forget the DB5 ??
AC Cobra ......... :wub: As I grow older my prefference moves from the 427 to the 289.. More subtle somehow.. (not quite there yet though)
Porsche 911...... Fabulous car but not top 10 material..
Ferrari F40.. I mean come on.. Of all the Ferrari's in their history the F40  What about the Dino 206/246, the 275 GTB, the Daytona.:(
Land Rover Series 1... While I completely appreciate the landy for what it is would not be in my top 10. (just a personal thing)
Ok now to read on.
At least a "7" made the top 25 (just)
The 300SL only made 43  Behind the mark 1 \ 2 escort.... I love the early escorts but come on people WTF
The Toyota Prius  WTF is that about....
The D- Type only made 63rd BEHIND THE FU&^*NG FORD FOCUS>>>>>>>>
OK now its offically completely mad.
The 540K, Alfa 8C and type 79 are behind the CIVIC
knipex walks away before blows a blood vessel..............

The Ford Escort ?!?
I don't know what kind of history this car has in Europe, but stateside, this thing is a piece of junk!!!
Thanks for the link otherwise, it was nice to see some classics again.

I would assume that its a differnet escort.
Our escorts (early ones) were the rally cars of choice and their engines ruled the rally and kit car world for a long long time.

Indeed if you must by a 4x4 then buy a land rover defender :p What about my 4x4 Jeep Cherokee? I use it and abuse it... and barly wash it some times ^_^.

Oh and one more thing, you Brits and Europeans are so much more pasionate twords cars, but an average american(woman/man that doesnt have an instest for cars other than to get around or put 22" rims on them) would look at this list and calmly go "eh".... me on the other hand cant say anything because for one, I cant judge a car I havnt driven, or seen for that matter. So I look at this list and say "eh"

Oh I hear you there!
I must be living in a redneck part of Texas, because I commonly see people put oversized tires on their pickup trucks. My favorite is still the fella who put 30" plus tires, and was pulling a trailer!!!http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif
Then there's the family going to the local grocery store, where the truck sits so high, you almost need a ladder to get into it.http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/wacko.gif
I'd take a low-to-the-ground street car anytime, over anything like that! The only other vehicles I've ever considered otherwise, are the (original) Hummer and the Jeep Cherokee. ;)

i think i would dissagree with that. Imo the car culture is far more ingrained into the american psyche then over here. You have your hot rodding culture and your countries so damn big you need a car to get around.

true, but I guess your view would be the same as mine if you lived here. Just from all the Euro TV shows that I've seen, and movies, Europeans(Brittan's mostly) have a greatter passion for motoring. We have our hotrods and clubs and such, but the devotion that I see in some countries to thier cars is amazing.

Our escorts were built in the UK and Germany.
AFAIK a number of attempts were made to market cars from the eueopean market into the US but all failed.
Americans would have no interest in a 1300 or 1600cc escort that seats 4.

The silly exhaust thing is way out of hand in london. You keep seeing these knackered old cars with pipes about the size of a football sounding as if the engine is about to blow up.

i think i would dissagree with that. Imo the car culture is far more ingrained into the american psyche then over here. You have your hot rodding culture and your countries so damn big you need a car to get around. On that line, I think that European views on cars are different; ya'll seem to be a lot wiser on your choice of cars. I see "the-other-side-of-the-atlantic" as being more practical and/or smarter about your choices.
I'm also aware that the driving situation is different; licensing costs are much lower here, and so are the cars, and gas, so we're probably not as picky about what we drive: if it runs, good. if it runs faster, better. That's it.
In my little area of the US, people seem to revel in their pickup trucks, not because they need a vehicle to carry any kind of load, but because it's a status symbol. The reality however, is that these vehicles do not handle as well as a car. Also, because they are qualified as "trucks" (as opposed to "car"), there are some fundamental differences: first, the bumper sits at least 6 inches higher than a car, which puts the car at a disadvantage in a collision. Trucks are gas guzzlers (but no one seems to care)...
It's all oh so silly...

Im terribly disappointed with that list.. The F1 is certainly not the best car.. and quite a few of those cars are pretty pathetic (escourt, civic, prius) And personaly, i think that the Galladrio or the Mucielago.
Oh, and you europeans are much better at building cars than Us.. (yes.. im an American), for example, Porcshe (german), Ferrari (Italian), Vuaxhall (British? not sure), Lotus (somewhere in Europe), and Lamborgini (not sure.. either Italian or German)

they have some interesting choices and even cars i didnt even know existed.
the Lancia Delta Integrale for one is an interesting mix of uglyness and proformance that got anie place in the list.
now this is nice #64 the Datsun 240Z is a very fun car. my brother had one althought the exaust fumes that leeking in to the cab might put you in a coma the car turly was a fun one to drive and ride in.
anyways a nice poll for shure.

If you have ever played Sega Rally Zer0 the Intergrale was the small car in that. The other being a Toyota Celica iirc.
The Ford escort sold here is a vastly different beast to the one in the US. Various incarnations of it have domiated the world rallying scene such as the old RS Mexico, RS2000 and the awesome Escort Cosworth.

Heh, reminds me of my bro's Cosworth Cabrio (a one-off by Cosworth on commission to the guy my bro' bought it off). It was an M-plate when registered but he got it changed to B7 EKK (By 'eck!) :D
Same blue (or mebbe slightly darker), by the looks of it.
On which off-topic note - I'mma starting a new thread (http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?p=30177). ;)

I was gonna put most of those then realised that a fair few are now owned by foreign companies. E.g. Rolls Royce

If you follow ownership if gets a bit strange. Do you call a Volvo an American car? Or a Dodge a German one?

I think the point I meant to make was not so much ownership, since Aston Martin is apparently owned by Ford now, but rather where the cars are made. Taking Rolls Royce as the example again, the majority of components used in Rolls' now are made in Germany, not the UK. Thus you can hardly call the car British anymore, it's just the name that is.

Sure, but increasingly it's all getting mixed up with the same engines going into Volvos and Jags or for that matter Audis, Bentlys and Lamborghinis!

I know a lot of people with those cars, like my dad. He had an Audi Quattro, the Range Rover and, coincedentally, he and my girlfriend (not current) had (she still has) an Alfa Romeo Alfasud, although hers is in a very very trashy state. One of my good friends has a black NSX, another friend had an RX-7 (but it was totalled in a crash; wasn't his fault).
I do agree that some of the picks are screwy
